The Black Whip (1956)
MST3K worthy
Opening theme is the ONLY reason I retain knowledge of this film. By award winner Raoul Kraushaar, it's a good theme wasted. Opening & first scene after credits offers promise. Rest is like a kid tying a shoe for the first time. Marlowe's no Paul Newman, but even his acting was sub par-his stumbling b4 his flashback is laughable. Paul Richards' 'Man w the Whip' was a villain deserving of a better plot. If I got a recording of the theme, I'd never search 4 this movie again.
Stagecoach West: The Root of Evil (1961)
One of my favorite episodes of this series
I mean no disrespect to the previous reviewer, but there are a few things missed in your review. The first time I saw this ep, I felt like u, a bit too much, hard 2 follow plot. But the more times I watch, the more I appreciate the writing & the show. John Dehner's character was pretending to be from Scotland, as he states in his intro(not critical 2 the plot, but u might tolerate his accent more). The rest of the ep is akin to It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, but serious. The young lady who gets it was actually as greedy & willing 2 kill as her 'fiance' & the 'Major'(u don't keep your rank after you've been in military prison, right?) The only good character was Philip Carey's wife, who was ignorant of not only her husband's sinister past, but of his true intention of their marriage.
