Good Newwz (2019)
Barely qualifies as a comedy
Only last 30 minutes from the movie are watchable....Diljith & Kiara screentime was reduced...Akshay's scene with Kiara, where he was laughing like crazy, looks nothing but, a forced attempt to make the scene comic but it was clear that Akshay was trying too hard to fake his laughter. Age reflects on both Akshay and Kareena. Basically everything KJo is associated with is now turning into Kalank.
Bala (2019)
Just be yourself
First of all, I'm totally amazed by scripts chosen by Ayushmann Khurana. A new age actor who doesn't do typical bollywood films.
It's a great film. Society judges you by how you look. Character of Yami was beautifully written. A girl who only knows how to look good nothing else. Character of a person doesn't matter, only skin tone should be fair. Bhumi did a great job too.
During second half, when Bala proposes Nitika on roof, I thought it was going to be a typical Bollywood film type climax but director did a terrific job.
In a world, full of cheesy KJO or Srk/Salman movies, Ayushmann Khurana is a breeze of fresh air.
Saaho (2019)
Prefer watching YouTube Ads over this movie
Mighty Prabhas is back after heroics of Baahubali....He can dodge millions of bullets and kill thousands with just a knife...He is immortal and invincible...Shraddha was rehearsing for role in ABCD 3 movie....They are performing together in mutiple songs....Everything in movie is good except acting, story, screenplay, music and VFX...Best part of the movie was when Shraddha was hit by bulllet but she still survived later....People who voted 10 stars should be stripped of the voting rights and nationality immediately
Super 30 (2019)
Too much glorification to handle
First of all, with all due respect to Mr. Anand Kumar - I want to say that this movie is not even close to a biopic. I couldn't even believe that it is based on true events.
There are many things that raised my eyebrows during course of movie which I want to highlight.
1- In reality, Mr.Anand Kumar simultaneously works at Ramanujan Classes & Super 30 but in movie, rift between Excellence Caoching &Super 30is shown just to glorify Anand's image.Nothing is wrong in working for a sum of money.
2- When Anand goes penniless, he sells everything in the house but still kept the maid in house, whom he brought into his home for his mother's help during his financially stable days
3- When Super30 students are uncomfortable in English, Anand tell them to perform a play outside Excellence Coaching for 30 mins. I mean seriously and then they sing a song like NO NO NO NO.....
4- Anand may have faced several attacks in his real life but in the movie it is depicted as if Thanos is coming to snatch infinity stone from Anand. All students gather and fight with goons with actual guns and bullets with just the help of physics.
5- Students without any formal education are able to design Gobar Gas Plant and 3D projector for their hostel
6- Romantic angle were deliberately added. There was no need for that. Songs are really bad except first one. Hristhik Roshan, Pankaj Tripathi and Amit Sadh are total miscast for the movie.
Kabir Singh (2019)
Kabir Singh is epitome of intensity
Kabir Singh is an emotion. People who went through relationships can relate to this character. Shahid and Kiara had done justice to their roles. Supporting cast has done their part extremely well too. Great adaption of Arjun Reddy. To hell with all the pseudo-feminists, who are coming with terms like toxic masculinity for criticism of the movie.
De De Pyaar De (2019)
Forgot to Laugh
There is a partner swapping competition going on throughout the movie. Ajay looks too old for these kind of roles. Rakul tries to prove her mettle in the industry. Tabu was on the point. Can't believe that an actor like Jimmy Shergill still get very few lines. Ajay's son was decent but his daughter was irritating. I had a hard time to digest this script as comedy, irrespective of its box office collection.
Kalank (2019)
Epidemic
Movie is very slow paced and full of songs. Actually it is a song compilation, which has lines in between those countless songs. I feel, I was extremely lucky enough to survive through 1st half of the movie. During the intermission, I had a choice either to leave the theater or suffer through another half of the movie. I think I've made the right choice to leave theater midway.
Gold (2018)
GOLD has turned the theater into a Hockey Stadium
A story that will make your chest swell with pride.
Ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar (Tapan Das), Amit Sadh (Raghubir Pratap Singh), Kunal Kapoor (Samrat), Vineet Kumar Singh (Imtiaz), Sunny Kaushal (Himmat) & Mouni Roy has done a terrific job.
Emotions of Tapan Das, Attitude of RP Singh - The Prince, Dedication of Himmat, Sportsmanship of Imtiaz, Patriotism of Samrat....All together are the perfect ingredients for the movie....
The best moment for me personally was when everyone in theater was on their feet when the National anthem of India played on the screen as Independent India marked their final victory in London Olympics 1949 with GOLD....Kudos to Team GOLD!!!
Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran (2018)
At the end of the movie, my chest swells with proud
In Recent times, there is a debate going over most of India News channels about nationalism, patriotism etc...Few people have an objection on playing National Anthem before the start of any movie..Can't you give 52 seconds to the country...Movie highlights the vision of Nuclear India and attempt of other countries to stop India from being a nuclear power...At the end of the movie, I was proud to be an Indian....
Sanju (2018)
Ranbir Kapoor is terrific but not the movie...
Opening scene of the movie is quite bad, in which a writer gets beaten up for comparing Sanju with Gandhi. Talent of Anushka Sharma is wasted as she is playing a writer. The actress who was portraying Priya Dutt was not given any lines. Ranbir Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Vicky Kaushal are three pillars of the movie. Jim Sarbh was also good as a drug peddler but not so convincing as a builder. Hirani approaches with a sympathetic tone towards Sanju by overusing words like terrorist, failure etc.
Few cliches in the movies were justifying keeping of AK-56 by rape threats to his sisters or mob attack. Mumbai Police will be there in case of any mob attack. He could've applied for licensed pistol rather than illegal occupation of assault rifle. Also It took 15 years for Kamli (Sanju's BFF) to figure out that news headline has a question mark on it.
Many things were kept hidden for example- linkups with Bollywood actresses such as Madhuri Dixit, frustrated Sunil Dutt approached Bal Thackeray for Sanju's bail etc.
Producer and Director of the movie are good friends with Dutt so they justified Dutt's wrongdoings. Moreover the movie too long. I feel justifying wrong will never be right. Dutt has a tainted past and he is himself responsible for it. I wish he will do good in his future endeavors and live his rest of life as a responsible citizen.
Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018)
Break your Best Friend's wedding just to maintain your BRO CODE!!
According to the movie's perspective, marriage will break the bro-code between besties Sonu and Titu. The two chaddi buddies aren't lovers but they are emotional soul mates. Director Luv Ranjan goes a step further - the entire film is about a friend trying to break up his best friend's marriage because he believes that the woman his friend is marrying is a fraud. Sonu has no proof that Sweety is problematic. He says, it's just a feeling. She is, in his words, too good to be true.
The actors - Kartik Aaryan, Sunny Singh and Nushrat Bharucha - try to make this juvenile bromance versus romance drama convincing. Nushrat is saddled with an underwritten character. Kartik works hard to make Sonu likeable but it's an uphill climb. Sunny is the best among the three - he has an easy, unassuming presence. I just wish his character had more spine.
In once scene, Sweety tells Sonu that dosti aur ladki mein hamesha ladki jeetti hai. But in the Luv Ranjan's universe, women don't stand a chance.
Guest iin London (2017)
This sequel disappoints..
Firstly it is not a comedy film. Karthik Aryan is a decent actor known for his comic timing but he was widely underutilized by the director. Paresh Rawal, Tanvi Azmi & Sanjay Mishra all three are great bunch of actors but the script of the movie is very weak. Moreover, random jokes on fart, neighbors (Pakistan)etc. were not appropriate. Climax questions logic of the movie. Waste of money even if you like brainless comedy films..
Raees (2017)
Weak plot saved by SRK and Nawaz...
This movie is strictly for SRK fans. I am rating this movie as a neutral cinema lover, as all SRK fans rated it 10. First of all, this is SRK's best performance since Don 2. There are many plot holes if you apply minimal logic and script was also very weak. Nawaz as inspector and SRK as Raees saved this movie. Mahira Khan's role could have been played by any Bollywood actress. Nothing felt special about her performance.
Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017)
Most underrated film of 2017
This movie was pure delight. Rajkumar Rao proved again why he is considered most talented Indian actor. Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon were also performed well as per their roles in the movie. Pankaj Tripathi and Seema Bhargava both are critically acclaimed actors and despite being in movie for very low screen time, they entertained a lot.
Bãhubali 2: The Conclusion (2017)
Not greatest movie of Indian cinema but most over-hyped one...
Firstly I want to make clear that I don't have any hate towards South Indians.
The first edition of the movie was way more better than this. But second edition is intolerable in terms of acting abilities and VFXs/Graphics/Action sequences. I understand it's fiction but still no-one can fight with 10,00,000 people with help of bulls and axes.
If you talk about individual performances then it was completely Rana Daggubati & Prabhas show. Ramya Krishnan is a senior and popular actress but she can't speak a single dialogue without opening her eyes wide. There was a character named Kumara Varma who can't fight but when Baahubali gave him his weapon, he started fighting like a gladiator.
Action sequences are completely blown out of proportion. If you look at climax scene, audience laughed on that particular scene in theaters. Baahubali should not be called as Greatest Indian Film Ever rather it should be Greatest South Indian Film Ever.
Most fans argue that it was visually grand but I agree but where was the plot? Movies like Dhoom 3, Chennai Express and Kick have also done great business widely but these were awful movies. Movies should not be judged on their business.
Baadshaho (2017)
A Major Disappointment of year 2017!!!
This movie doesn't live up to acting abilities of Ajay Devgn,Emraan Hashmi & Sanjay Mishra. Director Milan Luthria narrated a half cooked story with most ambiguous climax scene I've ever imagined. Illeana D'Cruz & Esha Gupta are terrible actresses. They proved me right once again. That's why both of them were mostly signed in multi-starer movies. Vidyut Jambval was average but underutilized not only as an actor but also as a stunts-man. Even Sharad Kelkar's performance was better than Emran Hashmi's because Hashmi's character didn't get as many lines as expected.
Ajay Devgn barely speaks in the movie and repeats "Char din" dialogue monotonously every time, when he appears on screen. If you people are genuine fans of Emraan & Ajay then please don't promote this awful dish disguised as a feature film. That sandstorm scene in the end was like the last nail in the coffin...
