Binged in one go
12 February 2024
What started as a merely mediocre student-sitcom evolved to a very layered, superbly acted, well written, beautifully set piece of creativity which I dare to call: art!

It took me in more and more, every episode. And the plotline is totally authentic. Never -what could have been the case- I thought: Now I know it!

It was deeply funny, relatable, dramatic, moving and yes, I didn't stop watching... and saw all 14 episodes in one go.

The beauty of the two main characters helps also. They are so adorable, sweet, themselves. Breathtaking. I cried, laughed out loud and do hope I will see more of this team! Brilliant.

Spoiler BIG CONTINUITY MISTAKE
11 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
When Stella kills Chris there's no drop of blood on her clothes! When she comes home... her clothes are soaked in blood. Big... BIG mistake!

Ruins the whole plot for me. Sure, she 'did it' and ai even thought: good for you. But this stupid error ruins all thoughts! Pity.

It was a weird story. Both captivating and boring. Both truthful and unreal. The characters were not very likable, which makes it hard to process. And you know that it was going to end well for the suspect... so that's again not a good thing. But still I kept watching, cos something was okay with it.

Bit torn to both sides! Still, a 7!

Magical fantasy
5 January 2023
This short series is so beautifully made, so rich, so full of daring fantasy, charm and brilliant acting... it is a pleasure to see, listen and feel. All the details together form a story which could have been told or filmed, decades ago, in Tsjechoslovakia or Hungary. But this is meant as a HUGE compliment. I was moved so many times at so many moments and I never saw it coming.

The story is fresh, feels like a oldfashioned and yet modern fairytale and has it's own daring magic. The characters are never a cliché but filled with warmth and love, both from the writer as the people who realised them.

Watch it for yourself and enjoy!

35 times
11 May 2022
Yes, I think I've seen this movie more then 30 times. It is never enough, found new moments, insights, words, metaphors etc. Every time again. Michael Cunningham is a brilliant author, but what they did with the book here still moves me so deeply. They call it a 'womans-story'... well, then count me in (as a man) to be in their side. Expressive, tender, provocative, open, thrilling... I am a HUGE fan!

Overacted drama
13 March 2022
What started as an interesting and 'true' story, slowly turned into a highly overacted gossip-drama. And it lost my interest with every episode. Why didn't they tell the story in 5 or 6 episodes. Nine is way too long...

Made it
9 January 2022
I was about to stop watching, because I couldn't stand the situations she brought herself into, over and over again, but I made it to the end and I am blown away. On so many levels it is one of the catchiest warmest most disturbing heartbreakingly real series I have ever seen. So -into the moment- my rate is 10 out of 10. The acting, the story... it is all on next level brilliant. There is hope for everyone... and the journey will be cruel and tough but it is so worth it.

All addicts and abusers, keep believing and do it, now. Otherwise there will be no tomorrow!

A good puzzle
3 January 2022
When I read the reviews about this movie it strikes me most people need 'easy access' to a movie. This one really does not give that and I love it! It is an emotional puzzle and yes, there are flaws, but for miss Gyllenhaal's first one I have to compliment her not taking the easy path but puts together a dark, psychological story in which can relate several internal searches about ourselves of the past and the present. Acting is beautiful, scenery nice. I loved it!

Thrilling
17 November 2021
The movie is as bumpy as the life of Lady Day. Yes, it might be a bit out of focus every once in a while, yes... the cliches are used a bit too often, but the acting is very good and it took me by the balls. So, despite a story not told too coherent, cinematography sometimes dull sometimes effective or even good... I liked it. Wants me to listen to miss Holiday again. And I do hope there will be some nominations here and there for the actors!

The start is the best
4 November 2021
It all starts so promising: nice characters played by great actors (some are know, some unknown, some famous) so it kept me glued to the screen. But the further you go, the weider the story evolves. And at the end it is really too much and I do not believe it any more. Plotlines which are too bizar, characters who turn into cliches... no they lost me with every episode a little more. And then nice actors can't keep it together...

A beautiful journey
11 May 2021
My son and I were moved to tears, more then once, because the collage of ultra-short scenes, the round story-telling, the characters, the life... gives such richness and love and respect for humanity. I don't need a story to be told or a clear view or meaning. This was more then enough to travel along for a short two hours. Wonderful, peacefull, meaningful!

Chadwick is wow

What an actors. The story is mainly there to let them shine, to reach to our hearts and to tell a story meant to be listened to.

Mixed feelings
29 October 2020
Just finished season one. It ruined my somehow positive overall feeling. It feels forced and 'just killing for the sake of continuation' felt totally wrong. Don't know if I wanna see season two! Good acting, beautifully dressed etc. But it can't hide a script turning around too many plotlines. Pity

Magic

The way this story is told is nothing less then perfect. I have no words. Thank you for giving these guys the most beautiful recognition possible! I have been at so many places, in amazing moods and gasping for breath every once in a while... devastated, breathtaken, amazed, shocked, happy. A HUGE 10
