American Horror Story: Great Again (2017)
Season 7, not so Lucky
If this is the Final season of the American Horror Story series, I will be sadly disappointed because I have a great idea for Season 8. If the producers of this otherwise great series truly want their fans to experience unprecedented Horror, make them watch Season 7 "Cult" again and again, a la Clockwork Orange. The original story lines of AHS included Ghosts, Vampires, Serial Killers, and Witches, just to name a few. Each was familiar, yet unique, and every season gave us a new version of what we all expected, and Wanted to watch. This year, the production decided to offer up its own opinion by making it a political statement on peoples inattention to what is happening around them in their ordinary lives. This is NOT what the series is supposed to be. If the producers want to make a statement on the current social and political climate in America, then by all means do so, as you are entitled to free speech. However, please provide your opinions in a different venue, and restore AHS to its proper intention, to entertain its audience in traditional ways.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Happy, Happy
So Far I am very pleased with the first 2 episodes of what promises to be a great new series! I'm also glad that a 10 year hiatus was necessary to make the new producers realize that although the same in genre, change was an integral component in what will hopefully be a successful series. Maintaining a theme of equality in race, and gender, that Star Trek has always held in the highest regard, has not become a victim of social or political pressures. The characters are strong. The plot lines are strong, but most importantly, Discovery manages to reinvigorate the message sent out by the Original series while still serving the primary purpose of series television, to entertain! Thanks and keep up the good work.
American Horror Story: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (2017)
Not what I was hoping for
It seems a shame that such a great series for so many years has decided to use their ratings to make a political statement. Not being American, I have no right to comment on the current political climate, however, I do feel that I can make a review of what should be entertainment? Which I believe is meant to distract us from the realities of the real world, otherwise, make a documentary. I have loved this show for at least the first 5 of the past seven seasons, because it was entertainment of the surreal without having any other purpose but to give me a wonderful distraction. I love Sarah Paulson, but I'm not sure if I can sit through another season of incessant wailing and blubbering. I'm very sure that both She and Evan Peters are capable of so much more. If There is to be a season eight, I implore you to go back to the formula that made you so special in the first place! Thanks
