Hang Time (2019)
Genuinely funny- totally original -the perfect date film
This fresh, fun and genuinely funny creative team have done something you rarely find in formulaic Hollywood films - produced a feature that is as laughout-loud hilarious as it is unpredictable and poignant. And they made it seem effortless. Hats off to writer/director Casey Zilbert for helming this touching heart-break- recovery friends-to-the-end feelgooder. And set at a winery in summer in New Zealand!
Pour yourself a glass of the chill stuff and enjoy!
Things I Do for Money (2019)
Lock Stock meets The Commitments
Stunning soundtrack with insanely talented lead cast. Besides the wonderful cellists/lead actors, the bad ass Jamaican bingo granny and her murderous pals totally stole the show! A few slightly awkward early scenes were completely outweighed by the funny plot, clever editing, spirited writing and directing and galloping soundtrack that really brought it all together. Watch this film.
The Changeover (2017)
Magnetic, magical, brooding, terrifying - an absolute must-see
The Changeover has all the elements of a must-see classic, delivered in such an unusual, stylish and cinematic way that they take you completely by surprise. It had me on the edge of me seat at every turn, not just because of the powerful, unformulaic story-telling and jaw-dropping performances, but the sizzling sound-design, stunning visuals and heart-stopping climax(es). Miranda Harcourt and Stuart McKenzie have done Margaret Mahey's classic YA novel proud and shown the world that New Zealand film makers have that special something that needs to be seen to be believed.
