Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire (2023)
There's no character building so you don't care what happens.
The Pros:
- there is a lot to look at
- you'll enjoy a few good action scenes scattered throughout
- eveyone has watched this sci-fi plot before so it's easy to follow
The Cons
- Too many characters with no development so you don't care what happens to them
- Too many pointless/gratuitous scenes.
- Charlie's ridiculous accent.
The bones of a great epic are here but they just aren't fleshed out. The film would have been better served spending less time on world building and more time investing in character development. The Star Wars similarities would have been less obvious then.
Maybe Part 2 will solve these problems.
Queen of the Universe (2021)
A really fun watch!
This was a totally fun series to watch! All of the talent and production of your regular singing competitions with some really great personalities. That yodeler from Canada made me PROUD! The judges panel is perfect. I didn't think I could love Trixie more than I already did. Can't wait for the next season.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond (2020)
World Beyond Terrible
There are only two likeable characters. Everyone else is a terrible person so most viewers won't care if any one of them gets killed off. However, it's unlikely anyone will die in the next season because NOTHING happens in this show. Nothing. No plot. No tension. Just ten episodes of watching horribly cast actors trying to act through exaggerated head shaking and mouth breathing. It's painful.
The only reason I continue to hate-watch this show is because it will likely tie into the upcoming TWD films.
UPDATED Season 2 REVIEW: Dropped it from 2 stars to just ONE. The acting of the Bennett sisters is beyond terrible - I really hope they're not included in the upcoming TWD films.
The Queen's Gambit (2020)
Great entertainment!
Well written, well paced, well styled and well acted. Enjoyable from the first episode and saddened when it came to its conclusion. I never knew watching chess could be so tense.
Love and Monsters (2020)
Most fun movie of 2020
I went into this film with zero expectations. It is, by far, the most fun film of 2020. Well paced, funny, sweet and a little sad when it needed to be. It's set up for a sequel and I really hope there is one. Totally worth the watch!
