The Exorcist: Believer (2023)
How to spoil what could've been!
This movie is actually scary and really exciting for a little over an hour, then the movie completely derails. This production could actually have been a really good movie. Had the film delivered at the end what it did for over an hour I would have given it an 8. I was excited for Linda Blair to be in this film, what a disappointment! The main characters are two children who are possessed. Why they became possessed is quite interesting, but is left without a deeper exploration. The film otherwise lacks a strong character in the form of a fearless or determined priest like Father Merrin in the first film. Instead, the team behind the film has lost itself in focusing on diversity instead of a sustainable story throughout the film. One can wonder if it is children who wrote the script after the first hour of the film.
House of the Dragon: The Lord of the Tides (2022)
Daemon Targaryen is the true king!
This episode starts with the time machine again. Once again we will jump in time. The worst part is that it feels unnatural and contrived. Perhaps a narration or something similar would be used, which creates a natural feeling for the time jump. Otherwise, the episode is entertaining and Damien continues to impress. The tension builds between the children and it is clear that we will have new time jumps in the future. Aemond who lost his eye has become slightly creepy in his performance and is increasingly reminiscent of Damien. The episode builds tension but never reaches a climax of its own. Anyway, this episode deserves a higher rating than the last episodes. I don't really understand the complaints about the actors, they are consistently of the same quality as in Game of thrones.
House of the Dragon: Driftmark (2022)
Miguel Sapochnik should be fired!!!
Miguel Sapochnik should be fired from HBO before he ruins House of the dragon like he ruined Game of thrones. These dark, blurry images are so annoying that you want to smash the TV. I gave this episode a 5 out of 10. If it wasn't for the dark visuals, the episode would have gotten at least a 7 out of 10. I was really annoyed at first when they jumped in time last episode, here we go again I thought and got ptsd thinking about the time jump in game of thrones. The two Latest episodes are really about to show that they have learned nothing, Miguel Sapochnik should be fired from HBO before he ruins HotD like he ruined GoT. These dark, blurry images are so annoying that you want to smash the TV. I gave this episode a 5 out of 10. If it wasn't for the dark visuals, the episode would have gotten at least a 7 out of 10. I was really annoyed at first when they jumped in time, here we go again I thought and got ptsd thinking about the time jump in game of thrones. The two latest episodes are really about to show that they have learned nothing, disastrous! I hope that HBO really sincerely and honestly considers the criticism of the disastrous moments that made Game of thrones the disastrous abominable series that the final season became. Anyone who had involvement in the murder of game of thrones should never again be allowed to come near an HBO production.
House of the Dragon: The Princess and the Queen (2022)
Somewhat dissapointed...
This episode surprised me, and not in a good way. Involuntarily I drew comparisons to the fast forward in the last season of GoT. Jumping 10 years into the future feels completely pointless when the young girls who played the queen & princess were such talented actors. I will certainly get used to the fact that we are 10 years in the future, while I think HBO wasted at least 1 more season of exciting plots that could have reflected the 10 years we now missed. Otherwise, this episode was slow, confusing and difficult to digest. I really hope that the new actors grow in their roles and that we are treated to the same intriguing tension as in the previous episodes.
Cobra Kai (2018)
Just better and better with each season!
I'm now in my 5th season and I'm totally perplexed that there are still people in Hollywood who know how to produce top class entertainment. I absolutely love this series and how it corrects its own flaws over the course of the story. The series is light at heart and contains everything it needs to be just entertaining. Tears, laughter, excitement and at the same time a real family adventure. Cobra Kai is probably the best produced series in this modern confused time we live in. The series has the effect a Hollywood production should have, it makes us disappear into another world and we avoid grim reminders of the reality we live in. Their reality becomes ours, and it is impossible not to watch all the episodes right after each other. The series is packed with easter eggs to the films and all the characters are completely complete and complement each other phenomenally. Only love to everyone involved in this project!
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Adrift (2022)
This episode feels like an extension of the first episode.
Progress is slow and the story is still thin. The political messages are delivered with the same intensity and the provokation is equal to the first episode. Galadriel is now established to be a real "Mary Sue" and loses credibility in the character, this is not Galadriel from Lord of the rings, this is a political message machine telling that this series is first and foremost for lbtq and neo feminists. I am not a Tolkien fanatic but it is clear to me that this series is not produced for followers of Tolkien. For my own part, the series is experienced as something I will still continue to watch. But just like last week, the acting is weak and the storyline is not sustainable. Some scenes are so ridiculous that you sit and get angry. But if you can swallow the thin story and the political messages, we can probably hang around until episode 3. It was fun to see a comeback from Lenny Henry, I didn't even think he was alive anymore. Our male Elf is uncomfortably similar to Don Lemmon on CNN, the connection is inevitable, hahaha. We'll give it a chance to improve until next week.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: A Shadow of the Past (2022)
Not as bad as expected!
I had very low expectations for this series, I was pleasantly surprised. However, the story doesn't feel really supportive. The story feels like it could have been written by a teenager and feels childish and thin in several places. Although there are less political messages than expected, it is enough to make you feel sick in slightly different parts of the film. The actors haven't really impressed after the first episode and they leave room for wishing more. Visually, the film is really impressive. Looking forward to the next episode's impressions. I would have given the rating higher if Galadriel had been more believable and if I had avoided all the political messages. If Hollywood wants higher ratings for their films, they have to raise the employment requirements for those who work with the story.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Better than expected!
Although the series is better than expected, it does not live up to Peter Jackson's declaration of love for Tolkien. There is no reason to hate this series, it is lavish and beautiful and makes a powerful impression at regular intervals. What drags my rating down is the story and the many political messages I could do without. The story is incredibly thin and downright embarrassing in between. If the storywriter is a Tolkien fan, he or she is a maximum of 12 years old.
Now I had indeed worked at night but I had to rewind several times because I fell asleep. The series is otherwise visually impressive and some dialogues are really interesting when they reveal some things that can be connected to the Jackson trilogy. The actors are better than i expected after all the trailers. However, Lord of the rings stands in the shadow of "House of dragons", which is of much higher quality, story-wise anyway. I will give future episodes a chance to change my mind, but so far it works for me, nothing more than that, but it works.
House of the Dragon: The Rogue Prince (2022)
A tense build up episode
The second episode slows down the pace but builds on the tension. We don't see Daemon as much and his character is perceived even darker than in episode 1. Matt Smith does an amazing job portraying this character, I'm not just convinced, I'm blown away. But in this episode, a 15-year-old is also transformed into something convincing and believable. Princess Rhaenys Targaryen provides a hair-raising experience and reminds us of an early Daenerys Targaryen. The plot thickens and the tension rises for next week's episode. After 2 episodes into the series it is at least as good as GoT. If they disappoint us like Season 8 did, then HBO will never get a cent from me ever again!
I have a new favorite show again. Please HBO, restore my faith in the movie industry, restore it for us all!
Superman (1978)
I am probably bias, but this is one of the best part of my childhood!
As a 7 year old in Sweden this was the first non animated movie I watched in a movie theater. The movie had its premiere in my city in the summer. The same year I watched Star wars in the theater in the autumn. No need saying that 1979 was a very special year in my childhood. This is why I am biased. 1980 my father went on a trip to the US just before x-mas and came home with an x-wing toy, a luke skywalker and Darth Vader figure. Also a superman 3-d mug, a superman cape, and a superman figure. This was the bestest x-mas eveeer!!! So watching superman the movie is like travelling to my childhood. This is feelgood memories. To me, this is fantastic storytelling, by no one else than Mario Puzo. The man who gave us The Godfather. The effects may not be like the effects of 2022. But atleast movies had no woke agenda and the stories spoke to your heart and your inner child, and still do! The actors were actors and created unforgetable characters for us to never forget. Gene Hackman, Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, Ned Beatty and Marlon Brando. When I am feeling the urge to relive my childhood, this is one of the movies I watch.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Almost believible...
After watching the first two episodes I'm really mad at 2 things. They have done a last jedi on obiwan. They gave him the luke treatment. Instead of pushing him against the complacent and somewhat arrogant jedi that alec guiness played, they has instead made him an old man without self-esteem and self-confidence, embarrassing! Inquisitor Reva is another "mary sue". I am so disipointed. Things that we know wader kept secret, Reva suddenly knows. And that 10 years after Anakin became Vader. Otherwise, the environments are Star Wars, and the quality feels above average. Leia's wit is also something they have succeeded with. If it had not been for kenobis grumpy anxiety and Reva's credibility as an inquisitor, I would have given the series 9 out of 10. Had Grand Inquisitor been in more episodes with a bigger role, it could probably have been 10 out of 10. F ** k Disney !!!!
Ophelia (2018)
historically incorrect!!!!
This is a total flopp. After just a few minutes there are a variety of people of color like Asiens and African. It is very unlikely that you would find anything else than white people in Denmark at the end of the 1500. With other words This is sci-fi and not drama. It would be interesting to see a movie about Malcolm X, where Malcolm X is played by Bruce Willis. Or Why not a historical drama about Nelson Mandela, I would love to see Kenneth Brannagh as Nelson Mandela 😂
For Your Eyes Only (1981)
This is what an adventure movie should be, timeless classic!
The movie starts with one of the coolest Bond intros, followed by a soundtrack that is timeless, by Sheena Easton. The movie takes you from the mediteranian to the alps. Skiing, motorcycles in high speed pursuit, assassins, agents, beautiful women, car chases, witty humor, freedom fighters, rock climbing, heroes and villians. Not to mention the fantastic underwater scenes. This movie has it all. According to me there are only two Bond movies that deserve the highest grade, this is one of them!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 16: The Rescue (2020)
Tangible memories...
This episode was intense. When I felt that our heroes was totally screwed, I was given a trip to a memory. In my memory I am 11 years old and for the third time in my life I get to see Luke Skywalker after the famous crawl. It was 1983 and the movie was "return of the jedi". Star wars had become my religion and it was one of the best days in my life. All the feelings and memories from that time became clear and present 1 minute after our heroes watches an x-wing passing their windows. When the green lightsaber lit up, I cried. Thank you Favreu!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 15: The Believer (2020)
Best filler so far!
This episode is a real setup for the final episode. You can feel the thunder that is coming. The dreamteam is setup and I just hope to see Cara Dune in her own show. She is the most interesting new charachter yet. I want to see her background story. Just love Gina Carano!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 14: The Tragedy (2020)
Are you kidding me?
I was ready to be a little disapointed this episode. After the kicks i got from the last episode i wasn't ready to believe they could keep me up in the clouds, but they did. Feloni and Favreu really know Star Wars, they now shown who should be at the wheels of this vessel!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 13: The Jedi (2020)
When you thougt it couldn't get better...
This was the best episode so far. This almost brought tears to my eyes. Revealing the name of baby Yoda got me ready for an expandetion I can't wait to see. And now for the best, Ashoka!! Totally loves her, totally believable. No way they could top this!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 12: The Siege (2020)
That star wars feeling!
This episode took me back to the feeling from the original trilogy. I do not want to spoil anything here, just want to say EPIC!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 11: The Heiress (2020)
Back on track!
Yes, finally a cross refrence to Clone wars, fantastik. Bo Katan, dark saber and story developing, yeah! Can't wait for next episode...
The Mandalorian: Chapter 10: The Passenger (2020)
Scary...?
Creepy episode that gave me a homage feeling to aliens and return of the king. Now lets get back on track with the story!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 9: The Marshal (2020)
Love for Olyphant!
The first thing I want to point out is that Olyphant should have been the Mandalorian, not Pascal! But a great episode. Big kudos to Feloni and Favreu.
Carambola (1974)
Italian spaghetti western comedy at it´s peak!
First time I saw this movie was 1980, I was 8 years old and I loved it. I just saw it again and the movie was just as great as when I was 8. The slapstick humor era might be over but in this movie they just got it right. At it´s moment the movie is totally ridiculous, but in a very charming way. If you like Terence Hill and Bud Spencer you gonna like this movie. Antonio Cantafora and Paul Smith (Midnight express) are very entertaining copies of Bud and Terence. If you like this you should also watch "Convoy Buddies" or the italian title "Simone e Matteo: Un gioco da ragazzi", totally hilarious. This movie is a classic like Django, Companeros, Trinity, Nobody and the man with no name movies.
Alien³ (1992)
A big disappointment
After the two first hits Alien and Aliens, the standard should be very clearing. The film lacks imagination and is not the least innovative in its effects. This is the Alien movies "Last Jedi" but is still better than "Last Jedi". The end is so bad that it would have been better to be waterboarded! Still it is one of the Alien movies and need to be watched in an Alien marathon!
The Lion King (2019)
The magic is gone!
This is an example of that Disney needs to bring in the money that Ryan Johnson lost them on "The last Jedi". The original Lion king movie always bring me to tears and then to joy. It is an emtional journey. This movie just made me empty inside. Mu eleven years old who grew up with the animated version and loved it called this a "Nature documentary". he said "Dad, this was more for you grown ups".
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
Exellent movie, stunning effects, but dishonours star wars!
The movie in istself is fantastic but when you follow up on the original characters like Luke, Leia and Han you have to do it honourable. This is where JJ totally blew it. Leia's character gave a week impression and killing of Han without Luke and Leia's pressence was thin, very thin! And when it comes to Luke Skywalker WTF! His entrence in the movie should have been when the lightsaber was shaking in the snow. The lightsaber should have gone into luke's hand, what an entrence it would have been. Instead we only got to see him for a few seconds in the end, WTF! Besides that I loved the new characters even though Kathleen Kennedy's political correctness had a very uncomfartable pressence in the movie. This movie would have made it to 10 in MY rating if it weren't for the listed failures and for the fact that this movie is a remake of A new hope. Disney plays it safe where they should been taking risks. And they take risks where they should play it safe.
