Spiderhead (2022)

Interesting concept, poor execution!
12 August 2022
The concept of the movie is an interesting and intriguing one! However the way they lay everything out on the canvas for this movie is lackluster and borderline boring. They could have done so much more with this!

All in all I think it is an above average flick despite the poor execution because of the awesome concept. The acting is quite solid (excluding a few more minor characters) but everything feels to cartoonish and at times to quick to really be taken seriously and taken in, in a proper fashion.

I would give this movie a watch, but I would also be warned that in doing so you have to prepare yourself for a bit of a let down!

Intersting premise!
30 July 2022
I must say that all in all I thouroughly enjoyed this movie. There are way more good bits then there are bad ones, and towards the end there were quite a few REALLY good bits that made me completely sold on the experience as a whole.

This is a time travel movie, a pretty decent one at that, because of the base premise it presents. They could've done a way better job with this though as they are a little too caught up in unorthodox ways to display the future tech (atleast imo). Also the Star Wars fan servicing is to a point which I found it was starting to get seriously annoying. Since the weapons copied over wouldn't be weapons of choice if this were actually a true to life story.

The movie tries its best to be an emotional home run but gets to this way to early at the start. A character we are just introduced to goes through something very dramatic, and they play it up like we are supposed to be sad about this although we know nothing about the person in question.

Other oddball scenechoices makes the minds behind this movie look rather scatterbrained, atleast to me. However I guess in a way it adds to the "charm" if you could even call it that. I think the movie would've done better without any of this charm though. Or atleast it could've done without the bigger part of it.

All in all this is a weak 8 for me. Was considering leaving a seven and calling it a strong seven, however I feel as if though this deserves a boost in rating from it's current one, and I have no issues in putting this into the weak 8 category.

Watched and enjoyed.

Not nearly as bad as the rating
25 July 2022
This is a pretty bad movie for sure, but it's not outragously bad and actually quite an okay watch.

Some funny moments here and there, simple and cliché plot. Just don't go in expecting anything else than that.

Great Horror
24 July 2022
Finally, a breath of fresh air. An actual unsettling and scary found footage flick. This movie actually got under my skin and I was uncomfortable throughout. Absolutely exactly what I am looking for in a horror movie!

The Tribe (1999–2003)

Very, very good.
6 August 2020
The concept of The Tribe is brilliant! The whole atmosphere really is what does the work in this show. I remember watching it growing up and loving it, decided to go back and rewatch, not suprised that I found the acting heavily subpar, but very suprised that it was as enjoyable as all those years ago.

This is a brilliant show and although every season is worth a watch, I very much love season 1. It is brilliant!

Here is how I would rate each season and why:

Season 1. 10/10. Brilliant concept, beautiful execution! Season 2. 9/10. The Tribe takes a more "real" approach, and becomes more than what it was in season 1, however many episodes are filled with too much filler. Season 3. 7/10. The Tribe at it's worse, too much filler, some might actually get bored with the show here, but stick with it. Season 4. 10/10. Completely new concept, absolutely lovely execution! Season 5. 10/10. This series ends of very well! Although I would've loved there to be another season the way it ends is appropriate and will leave you with tears in your eyes after ~260 episodes!

All in all, a must watch.

Starts of well, gets very lost towards the end!
6 August 2020
The plotline starts of super promising, almost to the point where you feel like you are going to watch something AAA class. But then all of a sudden everything slows down, almost enough to make you loose interest and for way too long.

Then everything goes off the rails and happens all at once. Interesting concept, too many missed opurtunities, but still a better than decent movie.

Pitch Black (2000)

Mixed feelings, interesting flick.

This movie is actually very entertaining. Although when watching through it I found myself very intrigued in hindsight the movie was quite shallow.

Don't let that discourage you though, I have given the movie the rating of 7 for a reason. Vin Diesel is perfectly casted for his role and the mysterious man he plays really makes the film alot more interesting.

The movie feels like an episode of Doctor Who, without the Doctor. I think it could very much pass as one. The movie is very Sci-Fi but still remains quite down to earth. It's sort of a double edged blade in that sense.

All in all I really wanted more from the movie. There isn't really much at all to it. The things it does, it does really well. But there are also alot of things it does not do which it really should.

However flawed it may be in some aspects I'd recommend you give it a watch, you most likely will not regret it.

The Discovery (I) (2017)

More than you might think
23 February 2020
I think the big influx of low ratings are not to be trusted. Watching this movie was work. There is really alot of blanks you need to fill in. The ending although sudden is quite beautiful in itself.

I think this title deserves a better rating but not a full 10/10 score because it is quite "shallow" for a movie that sets out to be deep. Theres alot of different directions the movie could have gone in and it would need very much for there to be a deep dive in some of the key areas of the movie. I think it would not have hurt if the movie was an hour longer.

Interesting concept, good execution, but untapped potential to be sure. Acting in my opinion was above avarage and the storyline was always interesting enough to keep you guessing. More like a fever dream rather than a full length movie, but an eyeopener to be sure.

Atypical (2017–2021)
10/10
Beautiful and raw
4 November 2018
The way Atypical just pours itself all over you is incredible. This is the first show I binged front to back when the first season came out. The second season I watched over a couple of days.

The way you get to know Sam and his family is incredible. The writer and director show a real image of autism and the difficulties and incertainties behind it.

Sam is someone you feel as if you know by the time you have finished watching.

Paige is the perfect storm to roll Sams way and is displayed beautifully on screen.

Zahid is one of the best "comedy relief" characters I have ever seen. He really brightens up the screen and is written magnificently.

Even though you laugh your way through some parts of this series it is indeed very dark. Elsa's wrapped mind is something you learn to appriciate as much as reflect over.

Doug's hardships throughout season two is hard and real to watch. This series is so real.

I cannot tell you more without spoiling anything other than go and watch this. You will be doing yourself a big favour. And don't just lazy-watch this, take part in the story and believe me you will fall in love.

Disney's, to date most underated movie
4 November 2018
To say that one of "The lion king" movies is disney's most underated movies might seem odd to you, but I really do think it is.

This movie really concludes everything that is left unsolved from the first movie. At the end of the first movie peace is restored but the outcasts are still left to suffer, this is resolved in "The lion king II: Simba's Pride"

This movie is all about teaching the watcher to be openminded and allow for second chances. The way this is written gives me chills, it's the most whole movie I have ever seen.

This is my favourite movie not only because I grew up watching it but also because I still feel the way I did watching it the first time when I watch it now, even though I've watched it some 200+ times.

Simply a masterpiece. This truly is disney's most underrated movie.

Solid
4 November 2018
This movie puts us immediatly into the action and the action never really siezes, but something about this movie makes the countless fighting scenes actually quite interesting to watch. The storybuilding is somewhat loose, but it really is a solid movie.

I think a 7 is the appropriate score for this movie as it's alot better than many violence oriantated movies. I thuroughly enjoyed it.

Breathtakingly simple, breathtakingly brilliant
13 November 2017
Coming into this movie I didn't have any high expectations, I watched this with a friend who's really into the whole parkour thing. But throughout the movie I found myself captured with the narration and feel of it all. We are presented with professional parkour team Storror and their adventures as they embark on a journey throughout Asia to find, so called, parkour locations. In the movie we get insight in these daredevils minds but also get to take part of the uncertainties and the overcoming of them. We follow the group through many different locations, and your ears and eyes are treated with amazing sound and filming. On a very limited budget I would say this is one of the most impressive works there is.

I strongly recommend you watch this, to get a more detailed description of just what it means to be in a movement such as Roof Culture, and perhaps also to be inspired, because I sure was.
