The Cookout (2004)
There was not one dull moment!
This movie was recommended by a friend of the family, who happened to think this movie was outright hilarious, mainly because of Queen Latifah. I thought the same.
I would recommend this movie to anyone who can handle African American jokes (surely that are not meant to be offensive) and loves comedy! I would NOT recommend this to anyone who takes life too seriously, or who has no sense of humor.
My favorite part is when Todd's cousin is at the gate telling The Cop (Queen Latifah) off!! Haha, that was definitely a memorable moment.
Some other slapstick moments are when the chefs are preparing the cookout meal and when Meagan Good is elated about getting this mansion.
This will be worth the while, so please do watch it!
Catch That Kid (2004)
Catch anything but this movie
Hardly worth 2 stars. My favorite part in the movie was the ending.
I watched it just yesterday and let me tell you, I wish I hadn't. Now I have nightmares of go-karts (which I have no idea why they used). This movie was as pointless as, i don't know, watching informative videos on motherhood when you're a father. basically, this was a wanna-be Cody Banks with a touch of Spy Kids, and and can't you imagine how horrible that would be? adults- do not even hope for a moment of laughter. the humor is unbearbly forced and stupid and I'd rather watch Jim Carrey attempt a horror movie (haha, that is a good idea).
please, spend your money on something else.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
Hilarious, witty, and worth seeing
This is a terrific movie. In fact, one of the best I have ever seen.
Johnny Depp looks and acts like a true "Willy Wonka", and the little boy, Charlie, is portrayed perfectly. They are a great match.
The only possible thing that could've made this movie better was using many different Oompa-Loompas instead of using the same Oompa-Loompa the whole time. I understand this is difficult to do.
The animation is magnificent, from the room where everything is edible to the glass elevator which smashes into Charlie's home.
My favorite line in the movie is "Everything in this room is edible. Even I am edible. But that would be cannibalism, children, and it is frowned upon in most societies." I know I don't have Depp's quote word-for-word, but it was something like that. I just couldn't stop laughing.
Johnny Depp (Willy Wonka) has kind of a sweet, lightness to him that makes you giggle just about every time you see him in this movie. He looks absolutely NOTHING like the Johnny we know. The make-up artist in this movie is incredible.
This is a great movie which is about as close to perfect as you can get. Though very different from Gene Weilder's (sp?) version, the movie is very true to the book and, of course, worth every penny.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
Truly ah-mazing
Absolutely terrific. Voldemort looked incredibly evil but at the same time, wonderfully magical.
I must say, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) has come a long way. Not only has he matured as an actor, but his expressions and his variating tones were AWESOME.
Emma Watson (Hermoine) has always been an amazing actress. I think she is the best person to play Hermione. I couldn't see anyone else playing the role as well as she does.
Rupert Grint (Ron), well, in this movie he's more HILARIOUS then ever!!! His dim-witted remarks and scared appearance give him charisma.
The adult actors are great, as you know. But some how the children outdo them. The feeling you get when the child actors are speaking is exactly what J.K. Rowling was aiming for
A terrific movie, but if you do not like the sight of blood, do not see it.
