This film was on prime so I put it on to entertain a child. It did it's job, but there are numerous other family movies of both the live action and animated variety. I liked Jack Black's performance, though he's playing himself basically. I liked his chemistry with his neighbour. The main child actor's performance is kind of annoying. The story was pretty simplistic and easy to understand, which is a positive for a kids film I guess. I actually found this kind of boring, and I think the child I was trying to entertain felt a little bored too, though to a much lesser extent. If you want a family film marketed as a "kids horror" watch Monster House, if you want a live action family film, watch Night at the Museum or Paddington and if you want a Jack Black film there's School of Rock. Overall a pretty mediocre film.

Could have been better
14 July 2020
I love the idea of a female organised criminals and like most of the actresses playing the leads so I thought I would enjoy this film immensely even though I haven't seen the original. Well I did like the film, the acting was OK and I was never bored, but I think they could have done more. It could have been better. The cinematography and music was bland, apart from this one organ track that niggles it's way into your ears in a really annoying way. I feel like there were a lot of characters I couldn't keep track of. I also think that they could have had more chemistry with each other.

Better than the Big Bang Theory

The humour works really well. The characters are consistently funny, and they actually get punished for being bad people. Mat Berry was particularly funny in this one, although he doesn't outshine the main trio. It also has the correct amount of episodes, though I think the conclusion was lacklustre. It doesn't overstay it's welcome. It's really absurd at points which I like.

I enjoyed the ride, even if I didn't know who was driving

Damn this film is trippy, in the best way. I love how disorientated both the main character and the audience become throughout the film. It makes the viewer unaware of what is real and what is an illusion, and does this whilst not being pretentious like some other experimental films. I enjoyed the experience very much. The music and the animation work really well. The camera angles are really interesting. I can't wait to see Kon's other works.

Both humorous and heartbreaking

Really liked it, the emotional core of the film is very touching and the relationships between the characters work really well, the satire of nazi Germany as seen through the eyes of a child was very funny to me and his gradual disillusionment was believable.

A beautiful film

Whilst the writing could be seen as a bit odd, I think the themes of family, the vibrant animation and the characters make up for it. I cry basically every time I see it and I think that shows how well it can effect people emotionally.

A classic of the genre

I love zombie movies and this one is one my favourites. It's unique, fun and over the top. It has relationships at its core which I really like. Also character mourn, which isn't as common as it should be in post apocalyptic media which adds to the realism.

Heartbreaking

Brilliant casting, acting, editing, camera and lighting. The film was so good that not only do I cry every time I see it, it prompted me to read the book.

An enthralling mystery-thriller, with brilliant performances especially by its leads.

Scary
14 July 2020
I'm pretty easily frightened so I found this film very scary. It's engaging the whole way through, although some scenes transition from fear to humour too quickly for my liking. One other thing to note is that the premise falls apart the more you think about it after the movie is over. Great music, acting and camerawork as well.

Weird, but cool
14 July 2020
Great acting, music, cinematography and production design. Although I think some of the jokes flew over my head I still found it very funny. It's definitely a weird film, it has a lot of sex scenes which might make some people uncomfortable and it's long, but I don't regret buying this one.

Pretty good
14 July 2020
It's a generally enjoyable film with great animation as expected from Pixar. Both the land of the living and the land of the dead are really visually interesting. I also like the homage to Latin American music. I just prefer other Pixar or Disney movies to this one, just preference. It's also kind of predictable.

Watch with good sound system
14 July 2020
I really like this film. I enjoy how real and grounded everything feels like it's happening in real time. The sound design is just splendid with singular tones being used instead of music which amps up tension. I also like the perspectives of the different players in this sequence and how they aren't "characters" as such. The only reason I didn't give this film 5 stars is because I've seen it twice, once in the cinema and once at home and the experience at home is inferior because of the sound mixing that works so well in cinemas and wasn't reworked for home release, so I would recommend a good sound system before watching this film.

A bit overrated
14 July 2020
It was ok. What else would you expect from a modern Marvel flick. I liked how the camera was dynamic during the bits where Peter is swinging through the city. But I have no attachment to the comic so I'm not going be soft on this film, it's ok, alright, not bad but not the best and not something that will stick in your mind for a long time.

An enjoyable ride

A unique and fun take on the heist film. The sound takes the spotlight as the sound mixing, music choices and sound editing are all brilliant. The general edit of the film is also great, as expected from an Edgar Wright film, the story is also intriguing and the characters are likeable.

My favourite superhero film
14 July 2020
A subversive and emotional take on the superhero genre. It's probably one of the only superhero films that I actually thoroughly enjoy and will watch multiple times. A film suitable for both fans of the genre, those sick of the genre and just those looking for a good film. It's actually reminiscent of western films, which are referenced throughout the feature. It's long and bloody which might put some people off, but if you have the time, give it a watch.

One to remember
14 July 2020
Get Out is great thriller, I wouldn't call it a horror as it wasn't really scary to me, and I thought the aim was more to tell an interesting story, which it did. The oppressive atmosphere and varied characters really makes this film one to remember.

A little overrated
14 July 2020
There are some very commendable aspects of this film that result in it having a lot of awards and praise. Whilst I agree that some parts are good, the music, costuming and camerawork are great, but I can't help feeling like the film is a bit overrated. I personally didn't enjoy the opening sequence even though everyone else seemed to. Also the journeys the main duo take are kind of predictable, it's also not a film that amazingly memorable after a period of time.

There are better Marvel flicks
14 July 2020
I find it hard to care about this film. It's a direct sequel to Age of Ultron, the worst Avengers movie, and whilst this movie is definitely better than AOU but it's premise is odd to me, like how would the government enforce their regulations on super humans? Do they answer this question? I don't remember because I got bored, and usually Marvel movies are at least entertaining. I also thought that the conflict between the avengers was kind of dumb. But then again I'm not a Marvel Stan and never have been.

There are better Pixars
14 July 2020
It a nice, safe family film, and there's nothing wrong with that, it just didn't gel with me. I might me too old, but I enjoy other kids films just fine so I'm unsure as to why I didn't enjoy this film more. It might be that I found the protagonist annoying, I also didn't find some of jokes very funny. The animation and world design is good, but that's expected of Pixar, there's just something about this film that makes just OK.

Pretty funny, good music
14 July 2020
One of the better Marvel movies. I enjoyed the varied characters and constantly changing setting. I also thought that this film was well paced, though I didn't really care about the conflict of the story. I liked the song choices although some of them felt like they were forced in for no reason. I also liked the jokes.

What did you expect?
14 July 2020
It was fine. It's not especially unique for Marvel to present a fish out of water story, though Steve Rodger is rather likeable because we know his backstory, found it hard to care about Black Widow and Falcon. Maybe there should be a Black Widow movie so I can understand why she's relevant but I guess I've lost the point. It's kind of a let down after the original Avengers.

Love the way this film flows
14 July 2020
I like this film. The camerawork and colours are nice, as expected from a Wes Anderson movie, and the extremely styled nature of the movie makes the stilted dialogue and weird characters not feel out of place. That is an issue I have with some of his works. It's fun, give it a go if you are new to his filmography.

Another DiCaprio film
14 July 2020
It's got an interesting story that is framed and paced well. They do a copious amount of drugs in this film and that might bother some people, it also feels like their bad behaviour is being rewarded throughout the film but as a an audience observing a number of unlikable characters it's quite interesting. The editing is also nice.

Better than what followed
14 July 2020
A fun, action packed superhero romp that you can watch with the family. I really enjoyed the ways the main cast interacted with each other, I also liked the humour and the action sequences. It's not the most inventive film, plot wise but it's a good time and a lot better than some of the films that followed.
