The Phenomenon (2020)
Astonishing!
This is the best documentary on UFOs I have ever seen in my 69 years of my life! (born 1954)! Amazing history and my heroes like Dr. Vallee are a delight to see. Haunting & very provocative, ,most famous cases are covered since the 1940s and it will make you wonder about things you never thought about before considering the UFO mysteries. I had read about many of these events over the decades but seeing witnesses and locations and testimonies leave me stunned. I strongly recommend it and wish it it was required viewing in schools. Very well produced, written & directed. I hope Fox Productions make more programs like this one!
Tree Line (2012)
Engrossing mystery!
Where did this film come from? I saw it on TUBI thinking it was a horror film but became completely addicted by the mysterious plot and characters! Very realistic, and some nice surprises between the two lead characters. Turned out to be a heartwarming film and I totally enjoyed it, especially considering the ethnic background of the detective Davi. I've recommended it to several friends. The acting is low key and believable, it's like a docudrama and has a pleasant and satisfying ending. I'm surprised it hasn't had other reviews, or if it was widely distributed in the cinema. Nice locations too, up in woodsy Alberta, Canada.
The Wolf of Snow Hollow (2020)
Great mystery/thriller
I've enjoyed this film several times on cable and finally ordered the DVD. It's a rather well-done mystery with supernatural overtones. The acting is great and I really enjoy Jim Cummings ...yes, as others have mentioned there are flaws (the woman killed in the parking lot had her arm ripped off, but only her missing head is mentioned; a tiny town wouldn't have so many cops, and so on). And it's great to see Robert Forster in his last film. Very atmospheric and fast moving suspense! I also enjoyed the alcohol dramas, and the scenes of the murders with the presence of the "wolf" are rather creepy! I do have questions about whether the Jim Cummings character is dead or alive at the end, and hopefully will find the answer in the reviews.
The Birds (1963)
End of the human race?
I've loved this movie since I was a kid and have lived for 40 years near Bodega Bay. I went to the 50th anniversary of the film and had a great chat with Veronica Cartwright who is wonderful. One flaw in the film (Evan Hunter wanted this) was the ambiguous ending. It could have been helped if the short story by Daphne du Maurier was followed: that the bird attacks were beginning to be world-wide. This could have been done simply, at the end, when Mitch is starting the car in the garage to escape and puts on the radio. The newscaster could have mentioned that bird attacks were occurring world-wide. This would have been a dire ending rather than a confusing one.
