I'd like to see more of this guy's work
27 December 2008
I noticed a weird thing...in this film, Karel smiled only once. Karel, the bumbling, likable "killer" smiled when the old woman saw them dump the body in the frozen lake and it was hilarious. Yes, this movie was definitely Fargo. Who's idea was it for Andy to carry around his wife's ashes in an urn the whole movie? Fantastic. Steen's first film? Congratulations Steen! Some wonderful filming techniques! A great job of when the wife got smashed underneath the monument, a great job of having Andy disappear off the lake in the final scene, and countless others! I thought it was a totally kooky movie...please make sure you watch the director/writers comments after wards. The hot girl in the Hummer was a weird sub plot that was entirely not necessary but it gave me a chance to enjoy the dog and the weird gangster. This movie was just great.

Border Lost (2008)

Another Border Story. Okay okay.
27 December 2008
The intro was too long and drawn out. I liked the effects and the drama the producers created but I found myself saying..."all right all ready...let's get to it.". I was bored while we were still in the opening credits. When the movie finally started I was uncomfortable because the writing and acting was bush. And okay...it's another border story, we know. we know. I did love the settings., especially the final scene on a Mexican ranch...the personal stories about the characters got good in the middle but the acting was just poor. The best actor was the big fat Mexican 2nd in charge drug guy, he was GREAT. The rest of the actors were all poor...they make you think you could do a better job yourself. It could possibly be the script. But guess what? It's worth a view.

Thrills and Pills
17 December 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Any movie of a teen suicide is so sad to begin with, but this one was unbelievable. It still slays me how actors can cry like that when they're just acting. But in the end Jamie Bell and Glen Close talking about his best friend's (and her son's) suicide killed me. I particularly like Rory Culkin, I saw "Down In The Valley" with him and he was tremendously touching as the little brother in that...it's a classic "L.A. fruity" film, with people acting in that movie like NOBODY down here in the south would act. Many, many very funny scenes. The woman obsessed with making casseroles was a crack-up and the recurring vision of Jamie Bell seeing his best friend hanging was pretty frightening. Thrills and pills! You get it all. "L.A. Fruity".

Ghost Rock (2003)

This is an unbelievable "film".

I wondered throughout the whole movie if this thing could save itself. I sat stupefied through the entire movie, at how unbelievably god-awful this "film" was. It was so bad, I caught myself squirming with horrible discomfort at the pretentious lines and canned acting that I witnessed for a solid hour and 30 minutes. Amazement and disbelief. I am still just absolutely dumbfounded. I've never known Gary Bussey to be a superstar movie talent, but I've never known him to take a role as bad as this one, either. Even the opening titles had abhorrently cheesy fonts. It was doomed from the beginning. I've seen a few movies before but please let me go on record as saying this is the worst movie I have ever seen. I'll say it again, THE WORST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN.
