Yesterday (2019)
Danny Boyle never dissapoints...
Yes, there have been multiple "rockstar" movies released this year.
Just keep in mind they are all different genres of music.
If your not a certain fan of the styles that have been released the last 12 odd months, then don't watch them!
I loved it.
The Dead Don't Die (2019)
You really need to be...
A Jim Jarmusch fan to enjoy it!
Or at the very least a G.A.Romero fan.
As an admirer of both directors I for one thought that it's a great "zombie flick"...
nice and subtle with Jim's dry humour..!
The Dig (2018)
'tis feckin good!
BRILLIANTLY executed all around.
Direction, acting, editing, story line... I have no idea why some people didn't like the ending, I thought it was perfect.
Watch it and judge for yourself.
Pet Sematary (2019)
church...
As a massive fan of the novel and a fan of the original flick, I've got to say this remake is a bit loose, however (and I quote)...
All of the changes from the novel were driven by the desire to find a new angle on a familiar story. "When you're making an adaptation, you want to do as much new, fresh things that you can because there's already an existing movie," said Kölsch. "But at the same time, you want to make sure that you're staying true to the essence of the book so that people still feel like they're getting Stephen King's Pet Sematary.

Exceptionally well shot and executed.
If you're a King fan (then you know his works never stay true on the big screen) you will enjoy this!
Sometimes... dead is better.
City of Lies (2018)
east v's west
I'm more a hip hop fan than a rap fan, but the 2pac/biggie unsolved case has always interested me.
Exceptionally well executed film all round.
The Best of Enemies (2019)
When oceans collide
Amazing movie about the truth behind racism in the south in the early 70's.
Fantastic casting, acting, directing, soundtrack, everything!
I'm looking forward to watching it again.
Brightburn (2019)
begging for a sequel
Movies like this have been done a thousand times.
If you stop comparing it to all the movies you have already seen and just sit back and enjoy the ride, well then
Recovery (2019)
Quite possibly...
... The worst movie ever made.
How How How did this snoozefest score so highly?!
Watching paint dry is far more entertaining and horrifying..!
Captain Marvel (2019)
sheesh
I made it about half an hour in before I just had to leave.
Painful
They say "thank you Stan"... I say 'sorry Mr Lee'
Avengement (2019)
If you like brawler films...
... This is right up your street.
I do, and I did.
Us (2019)
I can sum this up with two words...
... in repetition
Good
Bad
Good
Bad
Good
Bad
Good
bad...
Pretty much in that sequence.
6 for the production value alone.
Shed of the Dead (2019)
'You're Higness' meets 'Shawn of the dead'
Yes, re-hashed cinema, however a pretty good watch if you're in the mood.
The Kid (2019)
Damn fine acting all round...
I'm not the biggest "western" fan, but it was very well shot, directed and everybody played their part exceptionally well.
Highly recommended.
Ballad in Blood (2016)
Good old fashioned T&A horror!
Reminds me of the schlock B grades i used to watch as a teenager...Don't expect any Oscar nominations, but well worth a watch when the wife is gone and you have pizza and beer...!
Greta (2018)
sheesh
First half... good.
Second half... just awful.
Well shot! Well directed, acted... it just seems the director quit and they got a college student to to finish it.
Mirrors (2008)
Bland
Againt Aja's other work, it's a pass...
(The very end is pretty sweet however)
The Collector (2009)
better than expected
Judge for yourself................... **************
The Upside (2017)
Absolutely flawless
Happy tears all throughout, beginning to end... Can't recommend this enough.
(this is the first movie I have EVER given a perfect score)
You're Next (2011)
meh
4/10 at best...........................................
Lords of Chaos (2018)
Watch it and decide for yourself...
I love all genre of music, Can't say I'm a huge fan of death/black/speed/grind/etc metal but I do remember hearing about these guys years ago and I admit I did walk in blindfolded only to research the facts afterwards.
My humble opinion is, everyone poo poo'ing this movie is an angst person that probably loves the fiction over the fact or visa versa. "What have you done lately"
The direction is good, the acting, the story and yes, it is quite visually graphic at times, but if you do some research then you will understand the necessity.
Far from the best movie, however a very well made insight into a tragic event that never needed to happen.
Serenity (2019)
Just... woeful
I don't even know where to begin...
A crack addict tried to re write INTERSTELLAR?
I'm just going to leave it there... really not worth much more of my time after wasting 2 hours on this steaming pile.
2 *'s only because it was actually shot and produced pretty well.
But seriously, eessshhhhh.
Aquaman (2018)
frickin sharks have fricken lasers...
This is hands down a solid reason DC should just roll over and leave it to Marvel.
Don't get me wrong, I grew up reading both sides of comic books and then some, but this is just mostly painful I'm afraid.
Loose plot, loose acting (at best) loose story line and don't even get me started on the amount of goofs.
Way too long for what it really is.
It actually does have some minor good points, for me at least, some of the movie really does hold itself together pretty well!
But for the most part, I've pretty much forgotten I've watched it already.
The Grinch (2018)
Good old fashioned fun..!
I found it to pay homage to the Warner bros days of old!
Is it super cheesy and ultra PG?
yes.
However I honestly enjoyed it!
The animation is on point as always, the script kept me involved and the characters a delight.
Illumination, you've pulled it off once again.
Bumblebee (2018)
Absolute cabbage...
Did a 12 year old make this and post it on you tube then FOX found it, sold the rights to whoever production co and then...
Yeah...
don't bother.
Unless you're 11 and have no reference.
King of Thieves (2018)
Swing and a miss...
+ good casting, direction, script.
- try's way too hard to be a mashup of oceans 11 and snatch.
