Summerland: Into My Life (2004)
John Berg as Max
This is my favorite role that John Berg ever played. He grew his hair long, became the woolly Max Bennett and he was wonderfully wacky as the crazy producer Max. Although the part was short - I thought it reflected the wonderful person he was. Like Max, John was wildly creative, fun, and full of new ideas. John's passion for life really showed through his portrayal of Max. He looked and came across completely naturally in the role - in fact, I think he felt at home in the role. John's love for life (yes, I realize the irony of this statement since he took his life) shone as he played this part. He had been a hippie in real life, and his portrayal of Max used his past to bring the character to life. As I started out - this role, above all, was a GREAT demonstration of John's gift to bring bits of his life into the characters he played.
Danny Deckchair (2003)
Great little comedy - full of surprises and joyful turns
Danny Deckchair is a great little comedy. It's one of those films that you see by accident and then you have to see again. It's a fresh premise - being lifted away by balloons and the comedic twists the follow. Rhys Ifan is fantastic as Danny. Rhys demonstrates a range of emotions as Danny becomes the person he is truly is inside. While appearing goofy, Danny is also eminently lovable. While appearing unskilled in the ways of love, Danny will win your heart as he takes you with him on his journey that all starts with an accidental balloon ride - when his deckchair takes off with him. I recommend this film to anyone of any age.
