After Everything (2023)
It's hard to write this ...
The After movies have been some of my favourite Romance films in a very long time. Along with others, I have followed along Hessa's journey for 4 years. While some movies in the set are better than the other, this one should have been one of best as it is the long awaited finale.
As a fan of both Hero and Josephine, I can't help feel but let down for myself and for them.
The majority of the movie focuses on Hardin with some random side character that was NEVER mentioned before, not even once. I don't care if she was in the book or not, she was never mentioned in the films. Why am I supposed to care about her and the fact that Hardin bought her a house? Like...Okay? That character made no sense to the story. It would have been better if the Portugal portion was shortened and focused 100% on Hardin finding himself WITHOUT this random lady.
When he gets home to Landon's wedding, we have like 10-15 mins of screen time with our leading lady, Tessa, and that's it. It ended abruptly. They could have easily made a 2 hour movie that had more time with Hessa instead of this 1 hour 25 min rushed mess. It's such a slap in the face to the characters and actors. The movie started, I blinked, then it was over. I literally said out loud "that's it?...". I would have loved to have seen THEIR wedding and more of them at the end with their kids in the time jump. Or somewhere along the way had a conversation about her miscarriage.
Overall, it was nice to see Hessa again. It's just very sad that this movie was a huge disappointment after waiting 4 years to see the end. Maybe I'll try reading the books to see if we were given a better ending in those.
A Town Called Malice (2023)
Silly quirky 80s show
I'll start off by saying I don't think this show deserves the low 6.6 rating. I think it should be at least at 7-8. Yes it starts off slow but gradually gets more and more exciting but I think that's usually how series tend to go. I've watched series where the first 1-3 seasons aren't that great but the rest are.
Initially went into this to see Daniel Sharman as I thought he was the main actor. Turns out he isn't but I ended up staying cause I really like the show. I think it's a lot of fun, there's some suspense, yes it's a little corny sometimes and the acting is OTT but I think that's the point. It adds to it being based in the 80s.
The last 3 episodes were the best in the season and I can't wait for another season.
Expend4bles (2023)
Not as bad as the reviews
Not sure why this has such a low rating. I really enjoyed the movie and thought it was great seeing Meghan Fox play a semi-main character again. Only thing I can really see why people aren't liking it is because a lot of the original cast aren't in it (saying this because that's the reason my mom gave when I asked her why she gave it a low rating). I thought the movie was exciting and action packed like the other three and it was awesome seeing 2 badass women put into the cast instead of just a testosterone fest. The twist at the end was a little predictable but nothing short of amazing. I originally gave it a 10/10 but nothing is perfect so 8/10 will do. Definitely not lower than a 6 like it's rating suggests.
Beautiful Disaster (2023)
Loved it
I'm unsure why people gave this such low ratings. I thought this movie was hilarious. I genuinely enjoyed the movie so much I watched it twice within 24 hours. It may be because I never read the books so I had no expectations...but I thought the acting was fine and the movie itself was great. Gave it an 8 because I didn't like the poker side story. If this was a "boy meets girl and they try to stay friends and become lovers" type of movie on its own I would have given it a higher rating. Maybe if I read the books it would have lowered my rating but as someone coming into this without any knowledge of it already I found it to be a well made movie. I also enjoy cheesy movies so maybe that's why. Either way, it doesn't deserve the low ratings.
Breaking Surface (2020)
Reviews aren't accurate
I ignored all the reviews on this movie and went with the Rotten Tomatoes score of 100%. Normally I trust rotten tomatoes and not viewer reviews. I'm glad I went with the rotten tomatoes score, I loved this movie. I feel bad for the people who hated it.
