Interpol Calling: Mr. George (1960)
A guide to money laundering
The extortioner has $280,000 burning a hole in his suitcase and the smug Interpol man is ahead of him from country to country. Amusing paen to the super cops whose European reach stretches everywhere except Iceland.
John Welsh and Edward Cast have speaking but uncredited roles.
Efficient direction and photography.
The Vise: The Last Chapter (1959)
Perfect murder?
Not an unusual problem for the murderer. The perfect crime with its tricky plot just draws attention to the killer and not just the person in the frame. Enjoyably swift with familiar faces. Pity Jennifer Jayne wasn't in it more, sleuthing rather than just given instructions.
Story by Brian Clemens.
The Vise: The Missing Hours (1957)
Each clue a winner
What does the murder accused remember? A taxi, a scream, a door knocker, a hat and a glass circle. Each clue leads somewhere. The perpetrator has a pistol, as everyone had in 50s thrillers, to hand to wave at the police for some 'excitement' at the end. Screenplay by Brian Clemens, possibly written while his egg boiled.
