Sort Your Life Out (2021)
One thing bugs me about this show...
I love this show. It's so satisfying to watch and all the hosts are fun. But in almost every episode, they say that getting rid of clothes will mean you have less laundry to do. This makes no sense! You wash one outfit a day, whether you have 1000 shirts or 5. The only ways to have less laundry to do are to wear things more than once or to send your laundry out.
Other than that, this show is cute. I like that they don't spend a ton of money making the houses look over-the-top. Just normal changes that anyone could do in their own home. And I like peeking into how other families live and get along with each other.
The Great British Bake Off: Cake Week (2023)
Accusing GBBO of racism is unwarranted
In reply to the person who put a spoiler in the title of their review, there are at least two other people of color among the contestants, as well as a new host who is Black, and at least two past winners were people of color as well. The person who went home did dismally in two rounds and admitted this. They can't be protected just because they're not white. They have to perform well, and this person didn't. So what if they did well in the technical? The judges said everyone did. GBBO has a long history of putting all sorts of underrepresented groups in the show.
There are usually a few dumpster fires in week one, but the animal cake round was incredible. I think this cast is amazingly talented and I can't wait to see what they make this season!
Virgin River (2019)
Step right up and spin the wheel of TV tropes!
The writers certainly do:
1. Character discovers she's pregnant after a breakup
2. It's twins!
3. Character does something rash and life-changing after a breakup, then gets back together with the ex
4. Small town that can't keep secrets, except when they're huge, like a murder
5. Incredibly, openly evil bad guys who are ignored by law enforcement
6. Dirty cop
7. Another dirty cop
8. Rich guy who's pure evil and no one but the viewer notices
9. Abandoned baby on a doorstep
10. Person suddenly dies of advanced cancer while looking and acting completely normal. Dies after a perfect, happy day
11. Amnesia (in two characters!)
12. Bad guy with the heart of gold. Gets killed as soon as we find out he's innocent. I'm only on 4.01 so maybe he's not actually dead...
13. Super annoying character that everyone loves, for some reason
14. Hot, nice cougar lady who can't find a relationship
15. Totally annoying lady who instantly finds a relationship with a mega-wealthy man who wants to raise someone else's twins without even sharing custody and getting an occasional break
16. Curmudgeonly doctor
17. Character discovers a relative they never knew existed
18. Exposition constantly performed by characters on the telephone
19. Misunderstandings that could be easily solved by a simple conversation, which no one thinks to have
20. Lizzie's eyebrows
It's a total trainwreck and yes, I'm watching every single episode.
