Boat Story (2023)
9/10
Hilariously written, incredibly acted - forget the poor ratings!

Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this show - it was very well done, I have absolutely no idea where the bad reviews are coming from. Either they have no taste/sense of humor or are being paid to bash this show and the BBC. All you have to do is to see what else the producers have produced to realize how talented they are and that they turn out quality shows.

Give this show a whirl - we enjoyed it from the very first episode. Quality actors that you'll recognize and a very original premise (to me anyway). The narrator did a wonderful job and really added to the show. We've recently enjoyed Shogun, Tokyo Vice, Riley, The Long Shadow, A Gentleman in Moscow - this show is very different from all of them, but is right up there with them as far as quality (maybe not Shogun - that was spectacular.)

I actually like it more than the British version
29 October 2021
And that's coming from someone who prefers British (almost) anything vs American version (including podcasts - has anyone heard British Scandal? If not, you've got to give it a try!). I sampled the British version right before this version came out, and it just didn't do it for me, even though I loved the wife character as a midwife on Call the Midwife (another fabulous show). I'm not saying that the British version is bad, and I'm not a huge fan of comedy shows anymore, but I was pleasantly surprised with how well this show is done; it's definitely worth 30 mins of your time weekly for a chuckle or two.

Very fast-paced and funny, well done!

I was cautiously looking forward to this series due to sometimes finding Anna Paquin's acting pretty wooden, especially in Alias Grace and Bellevue, I was afraid her role in True Blood was a fluke, but have been pleasantly surprised with how much I've enjoyed this show. As others have said my only disappointment is the shortness of the season at only six episodes - please double for next season, and definitely renew it! It's like a cross between Devil Wears Prada and an updated, funnier Sex In The City - watch it, you won't be disappointed!!

The best episode in quite a while!
21 January 2019
I had long recorded SNL each week but finally took it off my DVR list in December, the skits had just gotten so idiotic (other than the Trump skits, he provides endless material) that I couldn't take it any longer. I went ahead and recorded yesterday's episode when I heard it was being hosted by Rachel Brosnahan and Greta Van Fleet were musical guests - two of my absolute favorites. Imagine my delight when I watched the show this morning - the skits were all very timely, absolutely on point and funny/entertaining! The Barbie intern skit was the only one I could have done without, although Rachel's character raised it above the usual idiocy. I don't know if they have new writers or what's the cause of the improved material, I certainly hope they keep it up!

Dirty John (2018–2020)

Very entertaining, but extremely alarming depiction of real events.

First, anyone giving this miniseries a low rating and calling Connie Britton's character "dumb" or "stupid" has obviously never been in or been close to anyone in an emotionally/physically/psychologically abusive relationship. If they had, they would understand that, unfortunately, situations like this do happen, and much more frequently than would be expected. They also would understand how difficult it can be to extract yourself from abusive relationships, even if the abused realizes how bad the relationship/situation is. While I read the published story, I have not heard the podcast, which is supposed to be fantastic. The tv show is pretty faithful to the published story, although some of the characters (primarily her two daughters) are a little exaggerated for tv purposes. While I, like most viewers, feel frustrated with Connie Britton's character due to her repeated poor choices, I easily can see that she is a very sweet, giving, compassionate person who is naive and too trusting of others due to the way she was raised and her own honesty - she simply can't fathom that anyone could be so malicious and dishonest because it isn't in her character makeup. If you've been "around" in the real world at all, you'll quickly realize that most people highly suspicious of others tend to disbelieve so easily due to their own tendency towards dishonesty and deception, as well as low self esteem.

After saying all of that, we (my husband and I) find this show very entertaining and extremely well done. Both Eric Bana and Connie Britton are excellent in their portrayals of their characters, and I would figuratively "kill" to have Connie's character decorate our house - she has exceptional (decorating) taste!

Intelligent, humorous view of today's screwy world.
5 July 2018
W. Kamau Bell provides an intelligent, humorous and extremely accurate view of the insanity spreading in today's world. If you're looking for a break from the constant dismal developments as well as more than a few laughs, this show will not disappoint.

What a gift!

I was somewhat familiar with the content of this show, but was blown away and brought to both laughter and tears by the raw, brutal truths and experiences related in this hour. Anyone that dismisses Hannah and calls this show a "rant" is exactly who needs to hear this material the most but, unfortunately, is too small of a person to hear and validate others and "connect" with people that might be different from themselves. I am in awe of Hannah, she is incredibly strong and a much needed voice in today's world.

Have really enjoyed this show
28 June 2018
I've really warmed up to this show, particularly the characters and their relationships. Nicola Walker is one of my favorite actresses, the rest of the cast do a favorable job as well. This isn't the deepest show ever, but it's enjoyable and well done. I'm already looking forward to next season!

Excellent, griping drama!!

Don't listen to the idiots that are giving this series poor ratings - obviously they are being paid or have some other motivation, whether it's political or as mundane as ratings, they are incorrect. We (my husband and I) have always enjoyed Benedict Cumberbatch in whatever we've seen him in, but this role takes him to Emmy level and beyond. He is brilliant in this role, everyone else draws humanitarian compassion for their character's pain and mistakes, excellent performances and casting all around.

Informative, Arresting Documentary
2 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Very interesting and informative. As more of this information comes out, hopefully the Orange one as well as his accomplices in the GOP and campaign team will be held responsible for their actions, despite a large portion of the party going all out to hide it and discredit the special counsel and justice department.
