Strawinsky and the Mysterious House (2012)
Delightful, really delightful
Saw that this was being being streamed for free with Amazon Prime and decided to give it a watch. Obviously, I was intending to watch it ironically and was expecting a steaming pile of trash but really was pleasantly surprised. We are introduced to the central protagonists in the opening five minutes and immediately we are thrust into the "mysterious house."
Fantastic creatures are to be found within each with their own SURPRISINGLY WELL-MADE AND SANG SONGS! Did I mention that they're catchy and well get stuck in your head. Speaking of the sound of this film, the voice acting is quite impressive given the budget of this film. The rest of the film is honestly respectably animated, especially the backgrounds. It's only the character models that look subpar and out of sync, but that can be forgiven due to the aforementioned voice acting.
It concludes rather quickly and I found myself striving for a longer story. While a full feature length film might have been too long, another 15 minutes to give it a 45 minute run time would have been greatly appreciated. Alas, there is no point in crying over spilled milk.
The true message of this film also seems to have flown completely over many of these reviewers' heads! The film immediately establishes the wisdom and fun that is held within many books before warning about the despicable elements to be found in some of them. Given that this is a children's film that is completely understandable given the increasing amount of the crude stories that are being disguised as "children" or "teen" books.
There are no true villains here (other than the rat king who represents Satan) and everyone is redeemed at the end giving this film a true "happy ending."
Silent Screams (2015)
Incredibly adequate low-budget horror flick with great acting *spoiler free*
Many of the low reviews that surround this movie are purely based on the fact that they disregard the low budget of merely $154,000. They judge this movie as though it is another hundred-million movie when this could not be farther from the truth. This movie is sub-par in regards to the special effects, but other than that this movie is quite great. It is not scary in the sense that it gives you a fright, but I found myself increasingly creeped out as the story progressed.
The story was quite elaborate and interesting and it required for the watcher to pay close attention as not much background is given. The acting is unconventional, yet phenomenal, as you feel as though you are there yourself with the casual lines, taunts and delivery.
The script is very natural as well, as it gives you the impression that you are watching a "feature-length YouTube vlog" as someone else put it. If you are looking for an interesting story with talented actors, then this is the movie for you. Personally, I'd have given it a 7.5/10, but I gave it a 10 to help balance the unforgivably low total rating.
Legacy (2020)
Incredibly underrated fast-paced action film with few shortcomings
All of the other reviews regarding this movie have one fatal flaw, and that is they completely disregard the movie's low-budget. Not everyone has a 100 million + budget to develop an action movie for the big screen, and this one is obviously not one of those. The story here is fast-paced, the script is slightly above-par and the acting is phenomenal. "Boranovic" in this movie is an especially impactful character that undergoes a lot of development and strain throughout the course of this movie. I would recommend this movie to any action fans who aren't too picky with the special effects.
Bill Nye Saves the World (2017)
Most of it is good
This show is not as good as Bill Nye the science guy, but then again that show was gold. Some episodes can be very educational and scientific, but then again "The Sexual Spectrum," was obviously all propaganda. This show is like an on and off relationship. But Bill Nye rules, so i'm going to give it an 8.
