Brittany Runs a Marathon (2019)
A breath of fresh air!
I enjoyed this movie very much. The writing is sharp. The diversity of the actors makes it even better. The setting is NYC. I would recommend this movie, especially for those having difficulty with self-image and self-esteem.
Mamma Mia! (2008)
Not too bad!
The music is fine, except Pierce Brosnan's singing. (He knew it wasn't good.) It pretty much follows the play, which works better for this piece. However, ABBA lovers may enjoy it. Meryl Streep shines, as always!
A Kid Like Jake (2018)
I loved this movie!
I thought this story was very appropriate for this point in time. Children are dealing with gender issues. This movie gives us a look into the lives of a couple trying to come to terms with their 4 year old son preferring clothing and play mostly associated with the opposite gender. Jim Parsons does a great job as a counselor and caring father. Claire Danes makes us feel her anguish as the attentive mother. Both parents struggle to accept their child for who "they" are. Can they?
Crown for Christmas (2015)
Royal version of "The Sound of Music"
The writers definitely borrowed a few ideas from the iconic movie! Overall enjoyable, but unoriginal!
