Tedious, with no salt
25 December 2019
I knew there is a catch somewhere in this movie after I reached the first 10 minutes of so. The film ends, and the catch didn't come. So it's good movie in tricking the audience, wasting their time, forcing to listen to (a lots of) farts, and watching a dozen of drunken, hallucinating and pissing scenes; all for not a thing.

Perhaps the writer/director/staff tried to produce a movie that mimics some of the classic writings in a more or less modern way. They have absolutely failed. Some of the angry and tedious speeches, which are about 3/4's of the movie, are actually so funny and colorless. And the actors almost laughed while making such speeches which supposed to reflect great pain and anger.

Don't care even if ratings and reviewing gave it 12 stars out of 10, this movie is a failure. 2/10

Too Slow, Too Unreal
9 December 2019
If there is a prefect loser in this movie, it is the story.

I think this movie is very confusing because the whole story is based on a certain phenomenon, happening due to a certain cause and the story almost ends when that phenomenon ends. Nevertheless, no one (and nothing) in the movie explained why that cause makes such phenomenon. The drama part of the story is even much worse and it was treated with exactly the same bizarre and unprofessional way, but there is not even a clue why the drama ended like the way it did. Simply put: it is a meaningless struggle between a father and a son both of which suffer from severe degree of social phobia. One dies no body knows why and the other lives to think abut it.

Space action? The graphics were good during the entire movie, no doubt; but most of the situations where action is made were so silly which again drags the conclusion that the story is uniquely bad.

So and so
12 November 2019
In some of its parts the movie is quite interesting, but great part of it is just boring when it tries to repeat old questions with the exact old answers. Should this movie in its current form (i.e. in its present form of story / directing / acting) be good enough to induce some debate, or add some idea to another? Absolutely no. So it is not that bad, but not that good either.

Deep. But...
3 November 2019
The story is the main thing that needs a review here. Other features of the movie (effects / costumes / music / directing) are insignificant - or less than that.

The story is deep in fact. It says at the end that, some people are beyond repair. Such people are rather ready to even break the system than to fix themselves in an acceptable manner. This is the only reason that made this movie to deserve 3 stars, not one.

Avoid.

Extraordinary Beautiful
29 October 2019
This is a Comedy/Drama masterpiece. It is this kind of movies that makes one eager to look for and keep watching movies in this category for its wealth in absolutely every detail. To mention at first, there is a rich comedy here coined with one state-of-the-art story. In my opinion this is even richer than "The Hateful Eight" simply because there are multiple stories joined within one movie. Each of the six stories is good enough to be a film by it's own if treated in a similar way to the majority of nonsensical comedy/drama movies these days. Each of these stories could by itself drive the audience to the charm of the American wild-west, in an unconstrained way.

Beside the story, and of course the acting of all those superstars, it is also easy for anyone to like the customs, music, and scenery; and the final recipe made by the giant directors and writers -the Coen Brothers- is no less than perfect masterpiece. Bravo!

Super Boring
29 October 2019
I don't know how I managed to complete 2h+ of this pile of lazy film. Is it a classical boring hide and seek? Is it just another boring criminal drama? Or is it just a boring, boring drama flavored with boring crime story? If someone cuts 2/3rds of the movie it will still tell the same story. But doing so will remove this movie from the boring genre to another one, so no one did that, and here it is: A Glorious Boring Movie. Avoid unless you have an extra time to waste.

A Good Watch
28 October 2019
Solid movie that tells about a wicked idea, and it reminds me about the classic horror movies where the characters know about the coming bloody trap and they still fall for it. The time manipulation between past and present made the movie so confusing, and that added an extra flavor for the horror scenes.

It's quite enjoyable.

Excellent Movie
26 October 2019
If someone wants to get entertained, a god option usually is to watch a movie. And usually a good movie is the one which attracts the audience from start to end. Movies attraction comes from many things, good acting, great story, good directing/production .. etc.

Transcendence got all the attraction a sci-fi movie can get nd it deserves better ratings that's for sure. One can blow other people's heads with his "wobbling scientific critique" about the story. The sadly thing, in funny way, is that most scientific critiques are not scientific at all. So I tell myself that's why brilliant sci-fi movies are always getting underrated while childish ones get overrated.

But who cares? 10/10.

Yawn...
25 October 2019
Lovely. It makes me yawn 3 times each minute. 5-10 minutes of this masterpiece, it drags me straight to bed. If someone decided to waste more of his money on this and makes a continuation (Part II) of it, I will certainly make sure not to watch it. Never again.

Men In Black? Amateur In Black!
25 October 2019
The title is misleading and unfortunate. Misleading because this is not Men In Black, and it is not Men and Women In Black, too. It would be perfectly entertaining to replace an actor with an actress in an action movie, but that's not the point at all. The point is, one needs to find an "actress" to replace an actor.. Putting an amateur girl in this role and calling it MIB? No.

Unfortunate because this movie is nothing less than a pure insult to the wonderful entertainment we watched in the previous MIB movies.

In total this movie's successfully transformed the earlier MIB movies into the 5 y.o. cartoon level.

Queen of Nonsense
25 October 2019
.. and show-offs. Long time ago I started to think it can become a habit for some actors to show off in all their movies. After watching this total waste of time (and effort, and money for sure) I know now that my earlier thoughts are correct.

What a boring pure nonsense, queen of nothing.

Original in Everything!
23 October 2019
While watching I realized that this movie had in fact the original ideas behind many modern sci-fi and action movies. Such ideas is not limited to the twin-earth story itself (simulated later by Another Earth 2011 and other movies/series), but also includes many other things, like situations, customs and gadgets...etc.

Directing was somewhat over-exaggerating in visual parts and took less care about how the film ends. Lastly the miniatures used in this movie were not that convincing, but taking into account the year of production one has to admire the effort behind it.

Perfect, But Not To The End
30 September 2019
Everyone likes movies with stories that develop through time and guide the audience to make the ultimate conclusions by themselves. Such movies sort of make an active conversation with the audience, developing their critical thinking toward a specific point - the catch of the story.

The story in this movie took that path and it was brilliant from the beginning to about the end of the movie, but then, an unfortunate deficiency took over and ruined every thing. Every effort made through this movie went away like a faint squeak in a windy day, just because of the last few (2 to 3) minutes!

The writer/or the director seemed to have incorrectly relied too much upon the sense of drama accumulated in the audience, and used that in the worst form possible. I do not recall such a professional story with such a total messed-up ending. If this movie ended just 2 minutes earlier, I'd have given it 8 or 9/10.

Two Seasons?
12 September 2019
The first season of The terror was a set of 10 amazing episodes. It was very entertaining and flawless, truly deserves a high rating, 9+/10.

Season 2? It has nothing to do with season 1. Just another supernatural series filmed with the help of a lots of tomato juice. Best rating for season 2 is no more than 5/10 - given that some people do like to watch tomato-juice-aided supernatural stuff; but I'd give it 3.

And this is very unfair to rate both seasons with one vote.

If someone does not watch this movie to the last minute, he'll end up in confusion because the "plot" completes and clarifies itself right there. Good movie.

The Fourth in a RAW?
22 August 2019
I was so disappointed to watch N.Cage's "Mandy", "211" and "Between Worlds". Very ugly movies telling nothing about anything. And Now This... It is even a waste of keyboard strokes. Ignore. Avoid. Not good.

Epic, Unique
9 August 2019
It's one of a kind. At one hand each of those stories is unique in a way it fits for a dependent movie, and they are joined in the series of the events at the other hand. The duplicity of actors in all of these stories adds a very special taste to the whole movie. One Big Bravo!

The Expanse (2015–2022)

Marvelous, Epic, A Must-See
5 July 2019
The Expanse is an original sci-fi series that certainly deserves to be on top of the category. The charm of The Expanse is composed by numerous good factors, too many to be mentioned in such a short-intended review. But the key points can be quickly highlighted. Loving sci-fi movies I can say the story is magnificent in all aspects, telling so detailed and complex events about a future struggle going on between three or four major parts in the main plot, while other temporary parts were introduced and terminated in almost every episode. The story keeps reminding me about Homer's Iliad in many ways, especially those asking about ultimate ideas of morality behind wars. It almost replicates the complexity of the GOT series in more than a fashion. I think most of the story is acceptable regarding physics laws. The directing was a brilliancy! Not only succeeded in maintaining the excitement / action / moderate drama to go along with the science fiction through all episodes, but also avoiding time-wasting and boring chatters, and continuously aiming the audience toward the events. Most of all, there was a special and quite interesting attention paid for fine details that caught my eyes, about acute little conditions of used gadgets, weary cloths, old scaffolding, used doors and so on. These details were numerous, and to pay that attention to make them has put the series very convincing. Of course nothing less than perfection was expected from two great sci-fi writers and directors, Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. The level of special effects and the music in this series deserve a reward.

A Boring Drama
5 July 2019
Why do we give a movie the "Sci-fi" category? I don't know after watching Solis. Too much idiocy in the story, too much drama, and the music is a nightmare. This movie could have some potentials to be one of the best, but it didn't get there, not even "half-the-way."

4 Reasons Why The Story Is Absurd
9 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Pushing the Earth into a path to reach Proxima Centauri? Because the Sun is dying?

1- The remaining lifetime of the Sun (after which the Sun will expand then die) is roughly 5 billion years. FIVE Billion years, not 300 years. This underestimation is 1 to a tenth of a million.

2- The distance to Proxima Centauri is about 4.3 light years, that is about 40 thousand billion kilometers. To reach this distance within 2500 years, The Earth needs to travel with a constant speed of at least 300 thousand meters per second. 300 thousands m/s for 2500 years!

3- Earth mass is roughly 6 million billion billion kg, and to move this with speed 300 km/s for 2500 years then humanity will need a total energy of 5.4e+35 Joules. Suppose the Sun converts total amount of energy ~ 3.6e+22 J/s. This means: Humanity will need the full energy of The Sun, produced within 476000 years (476305 years to be exact) to achieve this mission.

4- As for the other disastrous idea of igniting Jupiter atmosphere, one can only say one thing loud and clear: HaHaaaaa...

From A To Z, The Story Is A Complete Nonsense! It is a pure insult for sci-fi audience. The story would have been more convincing if the mission was about taking a colossal space ark with great number of humans into that course, in the most far future of the Earth. The Daedalus Starship would be an excellent example. I'd love to watch a movie about Daedalus!

Anyway, the effects in this movie were good (hence I rated 6/10), although they're mostly the Chinese duplicates of "2012", "Gravity" and "The Day After Tomorrow" movies.

The First (2018)

Another Disappointment
5 June 2019
The first episode start was brilliant, caught my attention almost from start to end because the events were indicative, fast, interesting. The second episode was a little bit boring for the "science fiction" part started to drop drastically while the "extremely boring classic drama" part started to raise.

OK I told myself it is just a bump in the road and there are still six whole episodes filled with developing events in the "sci-fi" part.

I was wrong.

The last episode had a little bit of excitement, and even there, the attention was stupidly driven from the action part to the drama part and that was a very bad move from the director! So Stupid move.

Thus more than three quarters of the whole series was about soft feelings and how to protect one's heart from getting broke while maintaining the good-state of others' heart conditions.

A drama/sci-fi? I believe it should be classified as Drama/Boring Drama/ Even More Boring Drama. What A Huge Disappointment.

Boring. More Boring
4 June 2019
This -by the way- is the Movie, not the Series. Why is it dead boring? First because if one divides the story into 20 parts, then 17 parts are filmed in the bedrooms, 1 in the doorway to the bedroom, 1 in the street, and 1 in the forest. Where is the wild west there? Mr. SpongeBob SquarePants only knows. Second, everyone would expect a little bit different English language (or slang) than today in the American west during the late of the 1800's, but surely no one expects that language to be "Shakespearian" in the heaviest theatrical mode. Third, conversations take forever and ever and ever. And here is the conclusion of this review, it is a 17/20 parts of bedrooms diluted conversations. Boring.

Strangely Stupid
26 May 2019
I don't know from where to start, the cold acting or the extremely weak plot, or the bad casting, or the unpleasant story...

In my opinion, a Sci-Fi movie should have some cornerstone to be built upon, and a goal to be reached (or not reached) at the end. Both should have something to relate with science, in an imaginary or real way. That's why it is called a Science Fiction.

This movie is almost a derived documentary about what-if silly situations, not science, and not fiction. The movie is way overrated. 2/10 fits it good.

High Life (2018)

Should be Called: Low Life
27 April 2019
The story has missed the point of normal sense by like a 100 miles, and acting is the farthest from being professional.

This review is not a spoiler, even when I mention that the audience will watch in here every possible filthy and stinking condition a human can have, with the worst possible directing and acting. When it comes to how the crew dealt with the utterly bad story, I find none of them really understood or even tried to understand -hence to convince others- what this story is really about. When it comes to directing, there seems to be no directing at all. As for the visuals or music or other effects, the level here is exactly at sea level, that is, Zero.

I really waned to find a single good point in the entire movie to give a balanced opinion, compared with horror-adventure-drama categories I mean; but there is none in fact.

A perfect waste of time.
