Wild Bill (2019)
I'm ready for more!
It looks at first glance like your typical murder-a-week crime drama. But there is always a twist, often personal or cultural between the characters, that keeps it from being mundane. As an American, I'm taken in by the locale right off. My interest is sustained by the characters more so than the plot, but each episode has been entertaining.
We're given glimpses into the characters' backgrounds, and each is quirky without being a caricature. I can't always make sense of Bill Hixon's motivations, but he's neither a wholly good guy nor bad guy. The complexity of the characters has just barely begun to evolve in season 1. I want to see these characters develop.
Bronwyn James is fantastic as Muriel.I would watch the series just to see her!
Shrill (2019)
It's my story! Very relatable for anyone who doesn't have a perfect body
This will resonate with a wide audience of women, and I hope it also enlightens some men. It's an accurate depiction of body shaming and addressing It's effects, set in Portlandia. Off-center and quirky humor. It's uplifting. Aidy Bryant is great as Annie, and the rest of the cast just as strong. These characters are real people, not trite stereotypes. I look forward to season 2!
