Mask (1985)
Inspirational movie but change of actress
I saw this when I was a kid and it helped me understand to not make fun of anyone in life and particular school. Wonder what would happen if we showed it today's kids. The story follows close to the real story but my only issue is why Cheer? She wasn't even an actress and according to the other actors and director she was not easy or professional to work with. It's clear the acting scenes were not so good and Cheer only had one emotional face throughout the movie. Look just because they are good at singing doesn't make them good at acting. Imagine Brittany spears or Taylor Swift acting. Would be a really horrible thing to watch. Just think at the time there were some better options.
Christmas Collision (2021)
How can this pass Amazon Film Team
These movies are suppose to make you feel good, not make you never wish to watch another movie again. The beginning of this is spiraling nightmare of bad writing, acting, and cinematic workers. The lighting and sound on some scenes was like a high school film crew do this. Then the acting from the main characters was about the worst I've seen. Almost so that if I see these actors in the cast for future movies I won't watch. But back to my headline title. How did this pass? It's almost like the scene in Elf, where James Caan meets with his boss about two pages missing. His boss says how did you miss two pages, then says it doesn't matter because the book still sucked. Amazon can't do this or they will not compete with hallmark on these Christmas movies. Sorry, I just feel so bad my wife and I started to watch. I got to go watch another film to help me sleep.
Haunted Mansion (2023)
Seems a little dragged out
The ride at Disney is the best, but the two movies have been pretty bad, which makes me think it can't be done. The haunted mansion at Disney is mild scary but entertaining and seems the first movie with Eddie was entertaining and not scary and this one too scary. Now I'm not saying this was scary movie type scary but more of a darker point of view. The main character did not sell the role that well either, just seems like he did it for the money and hated making this movie. Divito and the Priest character were not necessarily needed and the story seemed to drag on. I actually think Eddies was better but hope that one day they find a better representation of the haunted mansion.
The Contractor (2022)
Nice attempt to Tom Clancy style but no
This just happened to kill a 2 hour spot I had while watching the baby and I would have rather watched the babies shows. Chris Pine actually does a good job and there were other good actors in this, but the movie lacked creativity. We all knew the mission would go south and that Kiefer was a bad guy from the beginning. It had a great premise though by having a highly decorated sergeant who needs money, and the lengths he will go through to save his family, but not enough time to make that a good story. This could have been a series of carefully planned. Also, Military does not make a habit of just canning decorated personnel and take all benefits from them, plus the other civilian jobs would have been great. He also, would have gotten disability. Overall, it just lacked in action and explanation of overall characters.
Ahsoka (2023)
Like watching a live action cartoon with poor writing
Maybe it's just me but these series shows verses movies are like watching a long movie, but with lots of boring content in between. Maybe the comics and animated series people find this show interesting but a gen x person like me that grew up with Jedi kicking but and fight scenes regularly to make you stay interested in the movie, find this just hard to watch. Just finished 5th episode and actually wanted it to just end as the story line made me want to clip my nails and do my taxes. As I said in my title I hope I can change this to say it ended well just like Boba Fett did but there needs to be a large character appear to help Asoka because Anikin is about one step up from having Jar Jar save the day. Bring Mando or Luke and maybe make this thing more interesting.
Update: Just completed 6, and I do like the Grand Admiral but the Sabine character is terrible. Not the actual actor but the character is dishonorable to the Jedi and Mandalorians. She just hands over the map that will likely bring back this Admiral guy that could destroy everyone she knows, all to save her friend? Come on, that's just sad. So, it's hard for me to care if this character lives or dies, let alone follow a story line with her. She's a traitor and horrible selfish person that needs to be killed before she does more harm.
End: This was just a waste of time to get excited to watch this. All that happened is a trade off for good guys and bad guys. Ashoka, Wonder Robin, (Sabine) for grand admiral and goofy Jedi. The only good thing is the ending of this as I can start to watch another show on Tuesday. It leaves a cliff hanger, when we don't even know if this show will return. Only positive is maybe grand admiral and Mandi get to battle it out. Leave Ashoka and Robin on the planet and write them off Star Wars.
Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
Good live action with lots of running and good camera views
I did not know this was a part one until opening credits so hopefully the other comes out soon because me I'd like to finish the story. Tom runs, a lot, in this and the story was a bit hard to catch in the beginning but later came together nicely. AI of course being the main enemy so that's going to be a good story line. Tom was good as always and the other actors did a great job in the action scenes. I thought the white widow was a good guy? Have to go back and watch some old ones. This was a good action film and glad someone like Tom keeps live action films alive, so tired of CGI craziness these days.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)
Very good CGI in the beginning
The beginning had some amazing CGI of Harrison, and it lasted a good amount of time. After that the movies was decent and better than the last one. Good to see some characters back and it sort of felt more like Temple of Doom in the way it was done. Some scenes were cheesy, like the Tuk Tuk driving scenes, but the rest were decent and fun to watch. The only wish was the female character seemed a bit annoying and thought maybe they would kill her off because she was too evil in the beginning. The purpose of traveling back in time I did not understand as much but it was cool to see the Roman battles. However I'm pretty sure the time line would have changed when a WW2 plane crashes on the beaches during the Roman wars. Technology would have been advanced a tad bit. Plus, I always find it interesting in movies that depict the Nazis that we seem to forget Italy was also part of that?? Just saying, they weren't exactly saints in WW2. The movie was good and worth seeing I. The theater.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023)
Somewhat funny and stuck to characters from game
I played DND some with my brothers and once when I was a teenager and found it to be fun. Wish today more people played for the imagination part of the brain to be used more than TikTok videos. The characters I thought were strong and didn't think I'd like the wizard character because I didn't in the Pokémon movie, but he was ok in this. I can see the Captain Kirk role helped Pine get this job because you could see a little comedy from Kirk in this movie. Overall it was worth watching and thought the story was good. I see however it did not do that well at the box office so probably just a 1 hot wonder and not more to be seen in this adventure in my lifetime.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
Got half way through and stopped
The last three Marvel movies I've watched just seem to not have any excitement to them. Dr Strange, this one, and black panther were all hard to watch to the end, and in this case I didn't make it. Black panther I fast forwarded through most of it. I agree with the previous comments, just doesn't seem like a hero is being present in these. Fortunately I watched all these on Disney+ so I didn't waste a theater visit. Maybe it's time to retire marvel and save the production movie for later. The movies are just damaging the image of what was good movies. Was good to see Bill in this but even that can't revive this franchise at the moment.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
I don't know what I watched
My wife is Chinese and I am American, and we both just watched what I thought would be an interesting movie being an Oscar winner for 7. However, this winning solidifies that Eternal Sunshine on a spotless mind should have won to all those years ago. There were parts my wife fell asleep, parts that made me laugh, and even parts that were jackass the movie strange. It was hard to follow with language going in and out, and with action sequences it made me a little sick, but it's what Hollywood and todays society want, kindness and love. Except, the world doesn't work that way in parts of it. I honestly am just happy Jamie and Goonies guy got an Oscar, but I have to go watch something else or I will have bad dreams tonight.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
It's Zamunda meets 21st century
The first black panther movie was ok for me, except for the Wakanda itself. I like the comic book character and think that he was a great addition to the marvel movies. This movie should have continued with the black panther despite the death of the lead character. His family even requested it and the studio should have agreed, because this movie was not any good. Story pelt weak and long and drawn out. The princess is a good character but not the lead, which is why they needed a black panther character. Not to say it needed to be a male role but just someone with a commanding presence. As for Wakanda itself, I have always had a problem why it had to be in Africa and not on some remote island, like Wonder Woman. To have a society that is superiors with technology, wealth, medical, and weapons be in a continent that has such a bad history of poverty and genocide just seems far from reality and selfish. It's not as if they discovered the metal, it was from an asteroid. Not sure they should continue this character now, even in Avenger movies as it lost a lot of credit from this mess.
Lucifer (2016)
Update: Entertaining show just unreal professional positions
The show is great concept and always like the biblical history, not sure of accuracy thanks to Roman Church and man, but still good. Good story lines and the characters are good, just not sure a lieutenant of the LPD would be that great looking and young but hey that's Hollywood. I also, love how when they show driving scenes that they never seem to stop at traffic lights, ha. Have you been to LA? You can't drive 20 feet without stopping. In second season and like the story line and look forward to seeing more. Also, got me to do my history in Genesis and reading about the sons of god and the battles.
Update: finished watching the whole thing. Good stories but towards the end it seemed like it was reaching to finish the season 6. I did not care for the end however. It's not explained well enough as to why Lucifer could not work in hell and visit earth occasionally? Especially since Hell is faster in time, (1 week in hell is like a minute on earth). He could go between before so why did Rory say he could not? That story sucks for Chloe as she is left to raise two children because 1 husband died and another disappeared to Hell. Just seemed poor in a way to end as not every movie or series needs to have a tragic ending these days.
Ghosts (2021)
Much better than British version
I first watched these and then watched the British version and this one is much easier to follow. The British one was funny but hard to understand the actors and it seems so dark. I love this one and the characters, plus it's cool to see visiting and new ghosts. The story of how each one dies can make many episodes and great interactions. Almost feel sorry for Jay because he can't see the ghosts but his character does a great job at seeming clueless when Sam talks to the ghosts. Defiantly holes in story line when understanding how the ghosts move around but funny how they make fun of it. Also funny to see the headless guy appear occasionally and the basement people. Good show and one of my favorites in a long time.
Werewolf by Night (2022)
What was this?
This is one of the films that you must be a comic book fan or old classic monster movies. Black in White was good to see but I sort of don't understand this movie, as to who the characters were or their purpose. What if all the hunters killed each other and only one survives, isn't that less to kill monsters in the future. Why not just have them play a card game to get the stone. The mother was also strange as hell and weird werewolf for 2022. Just seems Marvel is sticking things on a wall and see if it sticks. It's not the worse movie or short film I have seen but be prepared to step back in the past of monster classic film because that is what this is.
Wednesday (2022)
Good series and characters are great!
Wednesday was never my favorite from the original on the Adams but she was well played by Christina when the movies came out so I began intrigued to watch this series. Glad I did as I like the director out on this, has a school for misfits like other movies, which always makes people feel relatable to characters. Good to see band and uncle fester, my favorite, show up. The rest of the Adams characters were good, except not so much Gomez, I like the actor, but doesn't fit the role. Gomez was a Vincent Price type swag guy and you can't get that from this character. Wednesday and others are good at the school and shame Ricci had to be bad and not return but it was still nice to see her in the series. More to come I hope as mysteries can go on and on, so curious which characters return.
Smile (2022)
Needed better ending
The movie starts out ok with the creepy patient smile, best smile of the movie in my opinion, but the rest of the movie is low budget run around. Honestly a great ending would have been maybe have the lady kill herself, thinking no one was watching but the nephew happens to see it and carry's on the curse. Sort of making it like when the main character saw her mom die and the sister didn't help. Kind of have a two part message in the ending. The final death was just not as good, burning yourself alive in front of a detective that sees death scenes all the time just seems pretty low but that's just my 545 words.
Andor (2022)
TV has changed
TV has changed the way I have to view these shows because you can have one good show and several bad ones. This show has so many shows that nothing happens and entertainment value is low, but then it leads into something good. It is interesting to see the behind the scenes actions of the empire, the day to day operations, outside of the normal known empire with space wizards, but one can't ignore the emperor and Vader, so I believe they should be scene in this show. Add some entertainment value to show we are still watching Star Wars. Also, what happened to Yoda during this time? Seems both this show and Obi One just dismiss Yoda's existence.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
What was with the ending?
5th wall breaks I know we're funny on Deadpool, but this took things too far. The show is good and the main character is funny, some bad cgi bill views but overall not bad for tv series. I did like the characters being added in later and I am sure Marvel fanatics loved it too. Just the last episode really was disappointing and even if they just let the characters fight in the end it would have been better than the Kevin robot scene and SheHulk breaking several 5th walls and wondering off set and jumping around. Just really strange ending for me and overall disappointing series finale to make it to another season two. Not sure they should renew.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)
What was that???
Reading the reviews about Johnny Depp, not being in it are sad, but the least of the problems with this film. What happened to the "Beasts"? It's in the title and all we got was a glittering dear? Then story lines not adding up, and I am sure even the actors were like, this is crap when reading the script. I honestly paid Redbox a $1.99 for this and feel like I should get a return. The actors were good and I actually like the one who replace Depp, just the direction and story board was terrible.
Sad as I like this series but think it has come to an end.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
So good to see real action
This might have been better than the first, but Goose was awesome in the first and missed. Story line good, fighter scenes were awesome! I'm sure some green screens but that's real camera cinematography and actors having to do things with amazing pilots. I'd see again and in my top 10 of movies to see in theater of all time.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
It began slow but great ending
I'm not a comic book person and never once looked at a Star Wars one, but the characters I like and glad to see in this. Sand People are pretty cool after watching this and the show got a pick me up with Mando and Grogu coming into show and joining. The last episode was great and not sure how the bad reviews showed up unless they did not see final three. Maybe no romance in a series finally or todays issues being thrown into every movie, series, or play. Good to see.
The A-Team (2010)
If you were not alive in the 80's then don't bother
Watching this the first time just doesn't do it, but a few more times and I really come to like this movie. You need to be from the 80's to understand the dynamics of each character. The cast I thought was great except maybe BA, and I know. Quantin Jackson is a bad ass but BA needed to be a bigger built person, as Mr. T was in the 80's, now not so much. Murdock was spot on, and my favorite in this movie. I thought the storyline was good and cool action scenes. This was a good movie and I had to buy it being an A-Team fan.
Uncharted (2022)
Like a National Treasure meets Indiana 4
Love how all this artifacts are beneath a city untouched and even in a night club. Did Mark just take a paycheck and say WTF was that. Twist Ana turns so many times its hard to keep up with who is who and good or bad.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Very Strange Movie.
I don't know if I liked it or not? Very weird ideas and lots of visual effects. Still, no one has answered what happen to the Time Stone? This movie had a Lord of The Rings feel to it. Plus why doesn't Scarlet go marry and have some real kids? She never had kids so get busy woman, your attractive. Just overall it was too much and not sure why movies try for the WOW factor in intro of other characters. Fantastic 4 and X - Men? Seriously that's weird.
Don't think I'd buy this one.
Moonfall (2022)
Entertaining during a flight but way off course
I like the ability we have to shoot movies in space, but make them somewhat believable. Good lord, an astronaut seeing this, would think this was an Airplane style comedy of space travel. Again, entertaining and got me through a 5 hour flight.
