Aakhri Sach (2023)
Pathetic....
Overall, the fourth episode of the Disney+ Hotstar series is flat and dull. Tamannaah's constant startled expressions are getting monotonous. Anya is a poorly written character because even after 4 episodes, hardly any quality makes us interested in knowing her. Her personal tragedy is the biggest and worst distraction in the crime series...
The show has made the Rajawat family look like a side character in their own story. The series starts with their bodies hanging inside the house. But even after 4 long episodes, the makers refuse to tell us anything more than just the small fillers. With only 2 episodes left, I wonder how they will piece it all together. The Burari Death case of 2018 was so dense and had so much to uncover. So, the makers might overstuff everything in the last two episodes. But if they again add a random Anya plot to the story, we might get a half-baked story as it has been from the beginning.
Freddy (2022)
Kartik Aaryan the only peak in this chilling Story ...
What is best about Freddy is Kartik deftly showcasing the complicated psyche of an outcast, who is trying his best to fit into society. But there is only so much an artist can come up with, when the meat in the script is hollow with wafer-thin characters.
While Freddy's revenge idea has a quirky engagement factor, it isn't strong enough to allow the entire film to be carried on Kartik's histrionics.
What was needed more was the world-building of Freddy that can make us empathise with a murderous dentist. There are hints of Freddy's dark childhood, and we know there is a lot that is left unsaid.
But even as the credits roll, they really don't say anything, and we are left building the script on our own.
Going With 8 For Kartik Aaryans Performance 👍
Chup (2022)
Masterpiece !!!
R. Balki represents a brand in cinema that looks at the world around us in different dynamics. His stories are about the absurdity in the normal and the gaze that makes it absurd in the first place. Be it Cheeni Kum, Paa, Shamitabh, or Ki & Ka. Even when they don't land where they are supposed to, they kick-start a conversation and a constructive one to take the thinking of its viewer a step ahead. If not anything, one must appreciate his gest to be original and bring to us some fresh content.
The filmmaker with his co-writers Raja Sen (a celebrated film critic) and Rishi Virmani now enters the what if?.. zone and creates a story that delves into virgin lands and one that is so delicate that one wrong step and the entire castle crashes down in a blink. There is an actor-filmmaker who was shunned back in the time (Dutt), a self-proclaimed successor plans to take revenge for the wrong done to his idol, and for that, he kills the clan responsible. You know the thin line I am talking about now.
But Balki doesn't fear to go to the most absurd of the turns and create a story that is so immersive that you start to ignore the little flaws. In their writing, the three shape the movie as an ode, a love letter to cinema, and one of its biggest legends Guru Dutt, a man not celebrated enough when alive. There is also angst that fuels not just the protagonist, but the viewer as well. There's a fan who seeks justice and knows no court will grant him that and takes the law into his hands.
Now, this fan is not an aimless, jobless youth who just gets on to it, but a man who has lived abuse and childhood of trauma himself. He lives with not one but two personalities and his head is a constant box of convoluted voices. In his most difficult times, cinema gave him hope and specifically Guru Dutt. So if the world insults his refuge, it is his insult. Look at it like yourself and confess the number of times you took refuge under the colorful umbrella of cinema. Can you hear anything bad about those films easily? The makers give that same emotion a wild take and it works just right. Balki wins the show when he decides to give an epilogue in the last 10 minutes and bring two lives a full circle.
Chup is about a legend whose cinema spoke of the world and what it consists of, good bad, and ugly. So does Balki's writing that tries to capture it all. But while all of it works, there are also convenient steps that he takes to jump to the next scenes. You can see how everything is served easily nearby so the script can progress towards the more lucrative conflict and that is indeed a problem.
Also, the writers do try to bring in fresh romance around flowers but are also real to the time it is set in. The girlfriend tells the boyfriend that she cannot have s*x on a certain day because she has her periods. It's a blink-and-miss scene but talks about the authentic approach in volumes. But this same love story is supremely ignored in the second half only to bring it back by the end. And that does serve has a roadblock.
And Last....
Chup comes from a team that immensely loves cinema and everything it represents, you must surrender to an idea that is untouched and brilliant. With some minor flaws, you should not miss watching his ode which is more than just a movie about a killer on loose.
Drishyam 2 (2022)
Visuals Can Be Deceptive !! Drishyam 2 Packs A Punch ...
The sequel begins where the first part ends - with the murder case of Samir Deshmukh, son of IG Meera Deshmukh (Tabu), closed as 'unresolved'. The new top cop in town (Akshaye Khanna) reopens the file much to the agony of Vijay Salgaongar (Ajay Devgn) and his family who inadvertently gets embroiled in the case. The real hero of 'Driysham 2' is the cleverly written plot (Joseph), and the twists and turns incorporated at the right times before a befitting climax, which may not be as novel or notorious as in part one, but is nevertheless equally captivating due to its ingenuity. The suspense is heightened by some good acting by the entire cast which is easily relatable. One can feel their tribulations and trauma as the Salgoankar family go through another extended and excruciating round of police investigation as well as close scrutiny by their neighbours.
Repeated close-up shots of the leading characters and effective use of slow motion scenes add extra impact to an intense plot which ebbs and flows right through.
In the seven-year gap since 'Driysham', Vijay Salgoankar, the 'Chauthi Fail Aam Aadmi' and a complete Family Man, has moved on from being a cable operator to a theatre owner and a potential producer of a film while Meera Deskmukh is now retired but still in the hunt to find the killers of her only son Samir.
Akshaye Khanna as the new police chief enters the scene from where he left off in Sridevi-starrer Mom, all the mannerisms included. His role and that of Saurabh Shukla as a writer, is a welcome addition to a tightly knitted star cast and adds a new element of suspense. Shukla as expected blends with his character despite limited time and space. Khanna, on the other hand, is suave and sensitive as a police chief hell bent on solving a complex murder case.
You will enjoy 'Driysham 2' better if you watch it without any needless distractions, like, for example, wasting time on finding faults in it.
Smile (2022)
Wowsome Smile !!!!!
SMILE :)
Smile is the best movie I've seen this year and the scariest. It had a terrific story where the twists added up and had hardly any restraint. The story deals with a psychiatrist at the hospital who's recent patient has plagues of family members and friends staring hideously at her to the point where she can't control her moods. The faces usually smilie and soon it consumes her to the point of suicide. She then researches this demonic situation to something more horrific. There were a few abrupt scenes that I would've like more of a scene before it cuts to the next, but it was honestly disturbing and unexpected in its timing of scares. The story has similar themes of Insidious or Conjuring or The Entity, but with surprises in terms of the villian as well as the journey the lead character is suffering through.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007)
Priyadarshan+AK= Dhamakedar Combo.... Its a masterpiece for me....
It is not actually a comedy movie at all! It is a absolutely a different type of work gifted to us by the talented director. We all know that Priyadarshan is a master of comedy, he knows how to make people laugh anyhow. But if you are thinking this movie to be a comedy, you are mistaken. This is a good drama, thriller and 'get a clearer picture later' kind of a movie. I will not claim it to be a mystery since there is not anything confusing. All of the actors were just fantastic, but Akshay Kumar could do better. I would have appreciated more presence of the Rajpal Yadav. This movie surely deserves to be in your collection. Long Live PRIYADARSHAN !
The Batman (2022)
When u expect 2 much .... Let 👎👎👎
Wasn't a fan of Emo Batman. Sorry Robert Pattinson. Film was just a bit bleh and felt like it was trying too hard to emulate Christopher Nolan and David Fincher. In the end, the mystery was a bit meh and not worth the three hours of what was mostly a run-of-the-mill Superhero film lacking much excitement or thrill. The Riddler was a bit lame too. Forgotten most of the movie and characters already. Underwhelming. Too long.
Churuli (2021)
Total waste of time, its ridiculous ❌
Reviews are misleading
Its utterly ridiculous
The story is just 3 or 4 min
And the end 5 6 min, thats all
There's no clarification what happened in between (which i think is utter nonsense)
Instead of making this 1 hour 55 minute film
It would have been done and dusted in just 10 min short film, i feel i have wasted my 2 hour only to find out the ending has nothing special but the 2 3 minutes of starting where a woman told the story of churuli the spiral.
Total bakwas.
Minnal Murali (2021)
Hats off to the team !!! Bravo 👏
The 1st indian superhero movie
Which i liked it
Appreciate their work from the bottom of my heart...
Basically its the story that shines, the pacing with slight of the characters is actually blended good, that is reason why an Indian superhero is born.plus the VFX/ cinematography is top notch.
Great one guys.
Get Out (2017)
Intelligent Solid And Impressive !!
Something different here. It's quite a fun and entertaining watch as racial satire meets Stepford Wives. When a black man goes to the burbs to meet his gf's white family he gets more than he bargained for. Something seems strange about all the black folks there. Sometimes the dialog is hard to catch unless you concentrate. It all comes together quite nicely and the cast is good.
