What Keeps You Alive (2018)
Check your expectations
1. Don't watch the trailer beforehand.
2. Emotionally, it makes sense why Julie does what she does. Something, I think, some <4 star reviewers might not have understood.
3. Listen after the screen goes black at the end.
Jeepers Creepers 3 (2017)
Good cop drama if it wasn't for the oversized bat with questionable sartorial taste
Everybody else already said that this is a really bad addition to the JC franchise - pastiche acting & lame dialogue, weird story line placement, disappointing CGI, too many plot lines with no clear structure of the story etc.
Additionally, I would like to point out that this is an utter sausage fest. It only just passes the Bechdel test because two of the three female characters talk about not having enough money to buy hay - for a male horse, though... To top it off, there is also a damsel in distress that needs saving. How is it possible to make a movie in 2017 and still use female characters only as props? This is even more emphasised by the outlandish behaviour of all of the male leads. (Plural, since the director could apparently not commit to one.) There were so many scenes where the actors seemed to have forgotten how to "human" and act and behave according to what the story required (e.g. a threat of danger should make characters run to their cars like they mean it and express believable urgency or fear; if you have a clear line to take a shot at the villain, you shoot at the villain and don't just soulfully stare into their eyes). I sometimes got the impression the director would have preferred to shoot a comical remake of Platoon instead of JP3. At least then the slow-mo battle action, over-the-top heroism and macho one-liners wouldn't have felt so out of place.
And we still don't know more about the Creeper! He got so much screen time but no backstory to speak off and in the end, I was sick of seeing so much off him and would have preferred for him to keep lurking in the shadows instead. More of the Creeper doesn't make for a creepier movie.
My heart is weeping for all the wasted potential and the two hours of my life that I just wasted.
