Redemption (2022)
What?
A mother who hasn't seen or heard from her daughter in 20 years, and has also changed her name, suddenly gets a call alerting her to the news of her death
How did the police trace the mother, and her mobile number? Did I miss something here? The daughter's children don't know their grandmother, so I'm baffled
as to how they tracked her down. I lost any interest right there. Following that she moves to Ireland to concentrate on her grandchildren, one who is of course
very stroppy, and takes a lower ranked job with the new force in Dublin to be with them. It may develop into a good watch, but not for me.
Mayflies (2022)
Powerful TV
Searching for something to occupy a couple of hours viewing one night, I stumbled upon this gem. It is without doubt one of the best shows I have witnessed in a long long time. Brilliant and brave, the acting is outstanding, and whilst dealing with the end of life for a much loved mate, it has moments of glorious youth, and boyhood humour along the way. It is a must see for anybody who remembers how great TV drama once was. The interaction between two inseperable mates will leave you in tears, unless you are made of stone, Best viewed over two nights, unless you want to end up totally exhausted and out of tissues.
The Kindness of Strangers (2019)
Pleasantly surprised
Came across this movie completely by chance one night on Prime video, and thoroughly enjoyed it. A slow starter that just gets better and better as we are pulled into a Mums world of love for her boys. Fleeing an abusive marriage, and out of concern for her family, she is dependant on help from strangers, most of whom have things happening in their lives too. A brilliant movie, filled with sadness and laughter, that pulls you into a world of helplessness and desperation, but always with that glimmer of hope that someone will finally be the person making it alright. It takes you on an emotional ride, but has glorious moments of comedy thrown in to lighten the darkness.
The Tourist (2022)
The new Fargo?
Love this mini series. A touch of the crazy, ridiculous, and laugh out loud with a cast of weird and wonderful characters reminiscent of the early Fargo TV series. Strange happenings all around, and of course lots of graphic violence.
Love it!
Your Honor (2020)
Garbage
I tried to like this show because of Brian Cranston, but sadly after 2 episodes I've decided that it is just not worth watching any more .It starts off with an almighty collision with a motor bike, that strangely leaves very little damage to the rust bucket of a car. That same car is driven around for some distance, but it's not until the car is leaving the police pound that a vital piece of evidence just happens to fall off the car. Amazing that! The number of coincidences of being in the right place at the right time for things to happen is beyond belief, as somebody has mentioned when the Judge walks into the police station just as the parents of the boy killed are there receiving the news of his demise. There are just too many oddballs happenings to make it believable, and I'm no longer interested in it. It is sad that today we have very few good strong shows worth our time, and not insulting to our intelligence
Tiger King (2020)
No Thanks
I have only been able to watch one episode of this doco, and that was enough to put me off watching further. The mere fact
there were so many animals in capture for this guys 'amusement' park, and for his entertainment, was disgusting.
Whilst tigers and lions are wonderful creatures, this is not their normal habitat, and to exploit them in this way for self gain
and notoriety is shameful..
The Trip to Italy (2014)
What was I thinking?
My wife and I wanted to see this mainly because we love Italy. Well, dear oh dear, what a let down. The movie was so boring that I literally fell asleep, and to my wife's disgust actually started snoring!!
After a prod or two I did manage to come out of my slumber, and we both endured the rest of this painful movie until its conclusion, just in case it improved. Sadly it did not.
Probably the worst movie I've ever sat through
Downton Abbey (2019)
Just OK
Having been a fan of the series, I expected a little bit more from the movie. Yes all the usual gang are at their best, but the storyline is weak, and much ado about nothing.
The Split (2018)
Slow to start.......
Really enjoying this series. Whilst I found it a bit plodding to start with, the whole storyline picked up from there and I found it a very enjoyable watch so far
