Churchill (2021)
Content great, editing horrendous
Sadly, this could have been a great series. The transitions, which are many and often, feels and plays like an amateur screensaver or DIY anniversary celebration video for your parents or grandparents.
At times, the video scenes the director and videographer recreates literally will make you dizzy. For example, episode one's running scene when Churchill's father is on his death bed.
What a terrible waste of a good script.
Mob Town (2019)
An old uncle mob story brought to the screen.
Nice movie of a story your elder uncle may have told you, brought to the screen. Unnecessary love sub plot (not gonna tell you how it turns out cause honestly, I'm not sure myself.) Goofy side deputy, lacking the antics of Barney Fife and more of a aloof 5th grade science teacher. I'm giving it a five stars because I like uncle stories. I honestly think this movie was only made so someone with an antique car collection could have a movie they were in. I spent most of this movie thinking about how much David Arquette is aging/morphing into James Cromwell. ;)
Active Measures (2018)
Insightful
Thought the movie was a good primer showcasing Putin's active measures post cold war.
The volume of interviews of persons well connected to Putin's active measures, in government and the intelligence community, brought credibility to the documentary.
The movie makes you think about the new wave of active measures in the age of the computer and social media, not just political, but how it could be used in consumer markets as well as religious.
Must watch, even for the skeptic.
Movie production: Various quotes on the screen could've stayed up longer so you wouldn't have to pause and read them.
