Jonathan & Jesus (2024– )

Playing Jesus comes with great responsibility
6 January 2024
Watching this documentary, it is evident how seriously Jonathan Roumie takes the role of Jesus in the series, The Chosen. His journey from basic obscurity to growing fame is another layer of pressure on him. He is open and vulnerable, humble and caring - just the kind of person one would hope for in the portrayal of Jesus Christ. It seems evident that God orchestrated a divine collaboration between Jonathan and Dallas Jenkins (who had his own desert to walk through before he reached the point of surrender. I know The Chosen fans will love this documentary and I think it would be interesting to others as well. Looking forward to the continuing story. Well done!

Refreshing Family Entertainment
10 September 2022
This series is based on the life of actor, screenwriter, producer Josh Sondquist. You can hear his story on the podcast "What's Your Limp" hosted by Jordan Walker Ross.). It is the story of a young boy who lost his lower leg and foot to cancer and his adventures of transitioning to public school after having been homeschooled until 6th (?) grade. It depicts friendship and family relationships in a poignant and sometimes humorous way.

Young Josh has an optimism and even confidence that are often challenged. This show depicts the challenges of a disability and how it impacts not only his life, but also the lives of his family members. If you have young children, this would be a great springboard for opening discussions about disabilities. This goodness in this show is a throwback to TV of long ago where there is no snark or edge, but still manages to entertain with high value.

If you don't have young children but enjoy wholesome entertainment, this show is appealing to "kids of all ages". I highly recommend it.

A step back into the past.

This series is set during the 1930's and 1940's which was my parents' generation. I have always enjoyed this peak in the past as seen through the day to day life of this family based on the writer's (Earl Hamner's) real family. It's a classic!

A personal Jesus
23 July 2020
This series portrays the disciples and Jesus in a new way. Give the luxury of time, they are able to really let you see how the disciples and Jesus might have interacted with each other. The back stories are plausible and scripture is interwoven in a way that makes it all seamless. Each episode touches the heart. It is a great drama series but has light moments of laughter and joy. I can relate to every character, although the two that have had the greatest impact (for me) were Jesus and Nicodemus. I invite you to watch it. Don't quit with the first few episodes where time is spent introducing characters. Episodes 6, 7 and 8 are the most powerful. Enjoy!
