Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022)
Really incredible
So in the first act I was like this is easily a 6 and by the second act it really started to connect with me and was a solid 8 but the third act just really got a hold of me and didn't let go.
It's very rare I give out a 10 to a film or movie but this was so amazing, beautiful and emotional that I really feel like this is a classic that will always be amazing.
At its core it's a father and son story about lose, hardship and acceptance. A much better telling of the classic story then Disney's and whatever that abomination that Tom hanks did. Is a little more dark, more grim but it's real and the stop motion is amazingly smooth.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (2022)
Holiday Classic
Lot of fun, lite and simple and very enjoyable with a very sweet ending. Was a lot of fun seeing more of Mantis and Dax and Cosmo was fun.
And really don't need to see the other films to get it, helps but stand alone just enough to work.
I would say a perfect christmas holiday movie presenting values like LOVE, CARE, AFFECTION towards our loved ones,
the extent to which we could go for them ,and many more. This SPECIAL was amazing. The call backs were great.
It is only 44 minutes but the pacing is great and never fells long.
And since when did IMBD required an essay for simple reviews now.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Very silly
Very silly and over the top in story and visuals. Movie moves at a brisk pace but slows down at the romantic moments.
I think it tries to be a RomCom at moments but with lots of action.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
It's pretty
The acting is ok if not wooden and campy. The story is mundane so far.
The show itself is beautiful and sets and location is movie quality for sure, just it's all boring. Could feel the time go by on the 1st episode and the 2nd was just as boring.
Candy (2022)
Is fine
The acting was on point, everyone was believable, the setting was great if not a little to dark.
The show itself jumps around a lot with little telling you what the time line is and the trial itself was short and rushed. The show spends a lot of time building up to the murder and then speeds ahead to the end, also leaves a lot of detail untold and just jumps around too much.
Catwoman: Hunted (2022)
Anime take on Catwoman
The voice acting is good, story is meh. It really felt like it took a lot of inspiration from Lupin the 3rd. But DC just doesn't really translate well over to anime, imo.
Music score is nice if your into jazz the animations itself is fine. CGI does kinda stand out.
Death on the Nile (2022)
Loved it but was an hour too long
For real, could easily cut the first act and the story would still make sense. Beautiful film, amazing sound and music, well acted. Just way to long, the first half you could really feel the minutes but once it finally got going it reeled me in til the end.
Alice's Wonderland Bakery (2022)
Strawberry shortcake knock off
It's a colorful kids show and that's about it. Cheap knock off of Strawberry Shortcake with little else going for it. I will see it look good and a lot of money went into it but it's dull and boring. Some kids may like the cooking part but mine did not.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Falls flat
I see what they tried to do and how clever they tired to be but no matter how you sugar coat it, it's a cash grab. To me it was the worst one of all the matrix stuff, adds nothing to the saga and if anything it insulting to everything that came before it.
Is pretty and top line of cgi and effects but the story and acting is subpar.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
A good conclusion
If Tom Holland really wants to step away from Spider-Man then this was really a great way. The 3rd Tom holland Spider-Man wraps up in a great way leaving it open to either continue the saga or to leave it at a stopping point.
The movie itself is a slow burner with lots of fan service served just right. Everyone did great, the score was great, the visuals were great. Only thing for me was that it was a slow burner and the 2nd act dragged on. And really I could have waited for stearming( my moive theater choices are slim and out dated with compact seating ).
Cowboy Bebop (2021)
Completely miss understands what Cowboy Bepop is about.
Great acting, music is good. That's it really, the wigs and writing is not great and they did Julia and Vicious dirty, even made Faye less enjoyable and Changed Jett's background for the sake of change. Ham fisted attempt that I wish was never made.
The Green Knight (2021)
Meh
Very pretentious and disjointed. I did enjoy the music and setting, camera work for most of it did give it a mythological feel. The story was cute, but went on longer then it should have.
What If...? (2021)
Very impressive
Love the feel and look of it so far, and now I want a Captain Carter movie.
Really has a Amazing Tales feel to it, well written and voice acting is great.
Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)
Very pretty
Absolutely Gorgeous animation. Great voice acting. Very much a kids movie and sometimes tries to be a adult one. If I was to sum it all up, My little Pony and Boss Baby with a little of Rapunzel is what it is all around.
Tom and Jerry (2021)
Pointless and dated
Something that would have been made in the 80's. Kids movie that focused too much on the humans. Young kids will like it but won't be a long time favorite of anyone's, forgettable but Chloë Grace Moretz was fine and did her best in this live action film.
The Little Things (2021)
Not a psychological thriller
Not a psychological thriller and an hour too long. All star cast but boring and slow moving with a disappointing ending. Was billed as a crime thriller but was none of those things.
The Last of Us: Part II (2020)
Video game that wants to be a movie.
Game is very pretty, and very short. The story hits all the troupes for a Oscar bait film. Game play and such is meh, it's the same as the first.
But the real kicker is that it's not fun or enjoyable. Game play diffidently took a back seat in favor of a cinematic game experience.
On short: better to watch then to play it.
