Extra Ordinary (II) (2019)

Different and uncompromisingly silly

An Irish comedy with Will Forte sounded odd to me at first, but it worked out very well. Sometimes American actors seem out of place in European films and that kind of movie often make me cringe. But here Will Forte just seemed like he belonged in this movie and I can't imagine it without him.

The movie was pretty well-made I have to say. I am someone who is very picky with a lot of things and visually I didn't find really anything to complain about. The supernatural element of the movie was mainly done in a subtle way and not over the top with obnoxious CGI, which I appreciated and the movie looked pretty good overall.

The story was pretty interesting and funny at the same time. It didn't take itself too seriously which is something that far too often happen with comedies these days, that they'll sort of pause the comedy to try to make something serious for a moment. Here I felt pretty much everything that happened was very silly. I liked very much all the supernatural ideas that were explored and the very silly way that it was done.

A perfect comedy I would've rated 10/10. This was a funny movie that I really enjoyed and made me smile a lot, but it wasn't packed with jokes. There were definitely moments where there was room for more.

However I'm definitely going to tell friends and family about it and keep my eyes open for more Irish movies I might enjoy.

This episode had no special theme, it was just pure 100% always sunny. This is a future classic episode.

One of the most anticlimactic stories ever
4 August 2018
This movie keeps making promises that something is about to come along and make up for all the awfulness, but it does not. I know this is not a high budget film but no amount of money could make the basic idea not suck. I predicted the ending quite early and was disappointed to see that I was right. It really is a waste of time and the scariest part of it was that Stephen King would spend his time and energy writing on such a dumb concept.

Very well made, with better voices I would have given it 10 stars

I was very pleasantly surprised by this film. With the years of the unique style of the animated movies deteriorating into some sort of tacky Disney-rippoff and the general awfulness of the live-action films, I expected the worst. I thought a 3d version would resemble every DreamWorks or Pixar movie that I can't stand, but found instead a unique style which was faithful to the Comics. The movie overall was faithful, well made and funny, not to mention beautiful enough to make someone who is not a fan of CGI love it. However the voices in English do not have the charisma of the iconic characters they are attached to. Nevertheless, I still loved it and I am glad that Asterix and Obelix are still alive to entertain new generations.
