Not epic, not engaging
20 April 2024
I haven't reviewed in a while and although this film is already ranking so low I still needed to get my thoughts out. I've liked other Snyder productions but Rebel Moon Part I was bad and part II was even worse. The first installment left such little impressions that I completely forgot there'd be a second part.

Well, I thought, why not see it through to the end? (And I sure hope this is the end of rebel moon) There is no engaging story, there are so many plot holes/nonsensical scenes and/or dialogues.

Most of all, I never cared. I was never made to care for the protagonists, the village, the "heroes" and I was never made to feel fear, anger or dislike for the antagonists.

A few good special effects (outnumbered by many poor ones) and the slow motion scenes were painful. The score was boring and predictable.

I feel bad for a couple of actors who I assume tried their best. With such a poor script and such poor direction I'm not sure how they could've done anything different.

I surely hope this is the last of rebel moon. Netflix should spend its money on more quality productions.

This was not an epic story, just an epic fail.

Thanks to the author, Brie, cast and crew

What an amazing show. I've throughly enjoyed the drama and the romance aspects of it. The added bonus of a comedic element rounds this show off to a ten for me.

The writing, staging, music, casting and acting is superb. I really felt connected to the story, was engaged throughout.

The shocking twist that comes early almost made me give up on the show but I'm glad I got past it and saw this beautiful story unfold.

It doesn't shy away from the social issues of misogyny, sexism and racism but instead tackles it gracefully and without concern for, necessary, discomfort.

The last episode had me in tears, wishing for more but satisfied with what was delivered. A must watch, and a must rewatch in a year or so. Beautiful.

Possibly the worst ST episode ever
5 August 2023
I was fresh with excitement after last weeks crossover episode. Boy was I let down. How on earth did producers, studio and actors feel like this would work? I can't believe it. An hour of intolerable singing. Sure the first song had a catchy beat but when I realized it was going to be the entire episode I started doing other stuff and just had it on in tue background.

With only one episode left I hope there is time to rescue this roller coaster of a season. I love the show but it's making it more and more of a struggle to do so.

It's just my opinion. Still, I'd rather have inconsistent Star Trek than none at all.

Good cgi but not much else
31 March 2023
The story is of course pretty much identical to the first one. I half suspected that and therefore wasn't too pressed about waiting for the sequel. But something's got to change for the next, third, installment.

The cgi was good, but like with the first movie it is overdone in a way that makes me as a viewer not really feel at home. It's too colorful, too fantastical and just too much. It's be nice with a break now and then. Not everything has to shine, glow and sparkle every single second.

It's 2023 and much has changed and evolved with cgi. Thus, the story has to be better. Avatar can't ride on cgi alone.

I'm not Maori but feel offended how parts of their culture was appropriated in the film. Cameron and company must do better if they want to build a believable alien world.

I enjoyed parts of it but it left much to be desired unfortunately. I get why these films are successful but it is mind boggling that they reach such astronomical box office numbers.

I really hope the next installments are more interesting.

Not too bad
22 August 2022
I feast on the tears of the haters. Dear lord on the negative comments haha. I thought the casting was good, the music great (actually prefer this theme over GOT). The first episode had good pacing to move the story to where it needed to be but I would've preferred a more obvious cliffhanger as to keep us engaged. I'm excited to see where it goes and will update review once season is done.

Wow. Intense but with heart

What a great show. I want a second season but the show's impact might be ruined with more of the good stuff. Ayo who plays Syd was the breakout star but all casting fantastic.

Refreshing show with a genuine story.

Pretty good after a while
13 August 2022
This show, judging by the comments, is not for homophobes or racists. Gaiman himself stands by it, yet hardcore "fans" are going ballistic. A shame.

I like the story and most of the casting. For Dream himself, not so sure (what's with the hairdo?).

I liked some of the side stories best (the diner, and Death).

It'll be interesting to see where it goes in season two.

Had its ups and downs
7 August 2022
Took a few episodes, then I got into it. Season 2 was not great though and season 3 did a little better. Great casting but stories not especially engaging too often. The last episode was fantastic.

Sad that we don't get more
27 July 2022
It seems the streaming giants are all competing for the big ticket shows like Stranger Things, Lord of the rings stuff and game of thrones stuff. I like those types of shoes too but I also appreciate something deeper, slower and meaningful.

Night Sky was well executed and well acted. An engaging story and engaging theme. It's a pity it didn't make the cut for a second season. Netflix did it with the OA and here we go again...

Why the low score? Great show!
13 July 2022
Well acted, fantastic music and good story. Love that we get a little bit of culture and color to the marvel franchise. Some seem frustrated but for all the wrong reasons.

The last spider man and Dr Strange were terrible and ms Marvel is one way for marvel universe to evolve and still be exciting.

Great film
27 June 2022
The acting, score and cinematography is stellar. Story wise it's also really good. It is one of those rare films where I wanted the story to continue. It perfectly balanced the intersectionality of identity, culture, heritage and family. This is cinema done well and I look forward to seeing the main leads in upcoming projects.

Season slow but nice end
6 May 2022
This season could've been edited down to six episodes with a higher pace and left more time to explore the present time line, not just tease next season. Despite this, I enjoyed the finale. The reunions and the good byes were nice and well directed and well played. As far as the series goes, I hope they up the pace slightly for season 3 while maintains some nostalgia.

Iffy about Oscar as the correct casting choice, music so so, story confusing. Not enough to really real me in but I'll keep watching. Might be a spectacular series but so far not intriguing.

Why Patrick, why?
29 March 2022
A long time fan of Patrick Wilson. Usually he does interesting stuff. This movie is inane. Somewhere between 2012 and Sharknado in quality. Story, effects, science behind it. All nonsensical. A real snooze fest. It's so bad it's almost entertaining. Almost. Sometimes it seems like a long ad for Kaspersky and Lexus so maybe it's not a terrible film but the greatest commercial ever shot?

Season 2 is wow!
27 March 2022
Season one was good (rated 7) Season two is flat out spectacular and I have to rate the series a 9 now, averaged because I'd like to give season 2 a point above 10. Acting, sets, costumes, music, writing is wonderful. I wish some would stop comparing to the books. Why would you even watch it if you're looking for it to be exactly like the books? Doesn't that seem like a dull prospect?

The chemistry between Kate and Anthony is palpable and so much stronger acted and interesting than between Daphne and the duke in season 1.

Entertaining enough but not great
14 March 2022
I had decent hopes, not great ones, and was still disappointed. Effects and acting great but what's up with the story? It dragged on and wasn't luring me in. The character departure before the team up and final battle was a little sad but overall I wasn't invested. I love Tom Holland's spider man. Therefore, the story not doing the character and the marvel universe justice makes me sad.

Bridget Everett is great. The show is great.

A nice change of pace. It's cute, funny, charming, sad and dramatic. All elements are there but in perfect bite sized portions. I am not familiar with small town USA but it seems like it also is a love letter to such places, not necessarily a true to life representation, which is totally fine.

I wish for many more episodes but would understand and agree with it being a one or two season story to not overdo it.

Watched it in four minutes. Glad I didn't spend a dime...
29 January 2022
I fast forwarded to any action. Was horrified (not in a good way) at what I saw. Fast forwarded even more. Still atrocious. Everything is wrong with this film. Four minutes later I saw the final scene and was happy for the pure joy of finally having a reason to rate something with a 1...

Easily triggered? Then don't watch
25 January 2022
Reading some of these reviews is almost as entertaining as the show itself. Some proclaim to love Downton Abbey (which by the way also raised sensitive issues such as class, heritage and sexuality) but when it makes a small subplot in an American show - the trolls emerge proclaiming "no, no 'woke' stuff."

Anyway: The first episode is long but it does a good job of setting the stage. Love Baranski, Nixon did a fine job, Farmiga was not the right choice. Although I adore Coon as an actress (I'll never forget her performance in Leftovers), she didn't get to really flex in this role, yet.

I eagerly await the continuation and will update my rating as the season moves on. Which it will as I am sure irritates quite a few but gives the majority of us no reason for concern.

Good, but...
22 January 2022
I enjoyed the slow burn, the acting and the directing. The score was good too. Overall the story is interesting, captivating. However, I knew halfway through that I might be disappointed by the ending. My expectations lowered only because I couldn't see how they could possibly wrap it up, even for a season finale, in a way that wouldn't be disappointed. I was, as expected, frustrated with the final episode up until the last minute or so. The ending wasn't a complete surprise but still. Regardless, I am intrigued of how the story will continue. This series feels like a more adult Stranger Things with elements of the German show Dark, not a bad combo.

Thanks Ricky for making this show. Season three wrapped it all up. The clichés fit. A great conclusion to a brilliant show all the way from the start to the very last scene. I'm a sobbing mess and I am happy for it.

Nope
12 January 2022
First episode a poor opening, second episode a great improvement and got me excited for coming episodes. Then this? Boba is portrayed as weak, naive and without a purpose on Tatooine. It seems now that half the season is done that the whole show is filler for other Star Wars shows and projects.

Fennec Shand isn't developed whatsoever either which is a shame. She's actually a more interesting character at this point.

I'll consume anything Star Wars. Still, I'd like to enjoy it more than I am with this. Rodrigues is not a good director. So many other talents from the Mandalorian could've done better. Nervous about Favreu commanding the project and Filoni not being as involved maybe.

Here's to hoping for a miraculous recovery in the next three chapters.

I'm happy to see an improvement from the first episode. This one had me engaged and looking forward to more. Some new things mixed delightfully with tons of Easter eggs.

Dunno how I feel.
10 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Part of me thinks that, after all, the original series maybe ended better and I could've done without this. I'll have to process this for a while to decide. It all went too fast in the end. Parts of who dexter is they got right, other parts not so much. That one decision that sets the last part in motion was so uncharacteristic of Dexter and the code.... Seems as the show runners chose for him to act out of character regarding the last part of the cell situation just so they could tie it all up. Unsatisfactory and kind of forced poetic justice.

I may change my mind in a few days.

Good!
5 January 2022
It's only four episodes so pacing has to be hard to figure out. But we'll done. Another good British detective show. Good acting too.

For those griping about there being a gay detective: you should've turned it off after the first few minutes and picked literally any of the THOUSANDS of shows featuring straight detectives.
