A sleeper hit
11 December 2023
Latest movie of Liam Neeson is a very very interesting movie. I feel it deserves more than it's IMDB ranking of 6.1 and Rotten tomatoes score of 60%. For me it's a straight 8.0 at least.

In the backdrop of a Irish country seaside village, in 1974, a Retiring assassin tries to get settled in the calm routine life. He wants to leave the life of sin. But a group of IRA hitmen is taking refuge there at the time and slowly causes ripples in the society. There are small industries, shops and church based communities- which trudge along the sea side village. People develop bonds and relations. Liam Neeson's character comes into conflict with the reclusive IRA group and that threatens to open wide his plans to leave his old sins and live a saintly life.

Viewers may remember Jack gleeson from The game of thrones, the abominable character as Joffrey Baratheon, acting as a helpful assassin here.

Many character actors are familiar from other movies. But each and everyone is typical of Irish characters which we imagine to be. The mid 70s ambience has been recreated nicely. A sense of underlying optimism flows through the Movie in spite of the gloom of death and sins against children and penury for people who are trying to stay afloat. The movie is not that gritty and dull but not flamboyant also.

I would recommend a definite see !

Extraction II (2023)
Brilliant action
20 June 2023
The best action movie I have seen for a very long time. Script was taut and the subplots were brief and to the point. They didn't distract from the main storyline. It's difficult to create new ways to show action nowadays, all seems repetitive but this movie of Russo brothers breaks new frontiers.

The characters are believable. Specially the main lead was almost finished when we saw the end of part one. Somehow he is resurrected. And that's the only thing which is difficult to swallow. The main antagonist is menacing, calculative and dogmatic enough to make him a strong adversary. The set pieces at the skyscraper was a bit messy but acceptable. Enjoyed the movie.

Unusual unexpected origin series
16 May 2023
This is not what you expect when you start watching a Perry Mason, the Super Lawyer series. He starts as a bum and failure in life to gradually turn the corner. Many side stories are there which might have been a bit tenuous at times. The story in question for the first season is very violent and can create issues. There is a lot of sex which again stuns you, and you may question why. The background is shown in early 20th century America Los Angeles city. The city, the country and the people are all trying to establish themselves. Perry mason is working as a private investigator under a very senior Lawyer whose best days are over. He might be a bum but his heart is at the right place. Then he passes the bar exam and gathers a few friends similar to his station in life and he is all set to become the hot shot super attorney, as we know him. The religious angle in the story was a bit boring to me initially but later I saw the light too. I started to like it more and by the 6th episode, I was hooked into it.

Now I am watching the second season. And loving it.

Cut, Color, Murder (2022 TV Movie)

Decent whodunnit
18 December 2022
This movie is a decent relaxing movie for an evening watch. More of a tv movie type naturally. Everything moves at slow pace. The lead characters have some banters which are enjoyable. The ultimate murderer is not too difficult to locate, though many other red herrings are thrown in between. Don't expect too much and you will be happy.

The visuals and music doesn't have much impact. Acting is decent.

A friendly neighbourhood mystery. One beauty pageant boss suddenly gets done in in the middle of a preparation for the big event. Many competitors and their aggressive moms, support staffs as well as secret admirers are suspected. And a homely sharp brained local girl one ups on the local police to find out the culprit. The new detective also comes under her attraction. All in all enjoyable soft romantic mystery.

Grim film about social difficulties of being women
3 November 2022
The film slowly draws you in with it's minimalistic but meaningful storyline in an Israel village. The father is progressive upto an extent. The daughters drawn towards him more than their strict mother. The mother has her own problems with the husband getting married again. Daughter is allowed to study in a college but is she allowed to go further ? Is the mother an enemy to her daughter or is she is soul who knows them the best. Tough choices - all controlled by the pervasive societal laws of the day. How the second wife thinks about her position! Complicated life stories bound by a single thread comes to a head. The choices we make on life are not nice and lovely, but we make them. The film is in a dusty rough village , quite poor. But it doesn't linger on and play on the problems too much. The focus is on the conflict between the characters and as a whole with the society. Cinematography is excellent. The ending screen music is haunting and evocative. Pensive movie. Touches your heart.

Awesome remake full of empathy for humanity
12 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Loved the movie which keeps the spirit of humanity throughout. Acting is good but Amir is sometimes bordering on clowning a bit, could have toned down his dumb act a bit. All else is good. Definitely worth a see.

Madhuri is still the super star and this is slow but interesting
11 March 2022
I have liked this web series even though I felt it could be reduced to a six part series.

Why and how an aging super star Anamika Anand/Madhuri Dixit in her first OTT Avatar, disappears suddenly is the crux of the story. The twists and turns are interesting but not shocking. Good acting by Madhuri, Sanjay Kapoor was the main attraction. The love interest of the heroine, Manav Kaul was okay in some scenes and didn't match with Madhuri in some scenes, though never was too bad. The young actors - children of Madhuri, their adolescent troubles, adulthood pains, were shown nicely. The personality, love issues of the lead actors were properly done. The suspense was not much built up. On the other hand the possible villains kept changing in each episode- that was very well done. Even the twist at the end was a bit loosely described but surprising. They could keep your interest.

Music was good, particularly in the Madhuri dance scenes which were fascinating. She is still ravishing. And her acting is par-excellence. TSanjay Kapoor showed the dilemmas and tribulations and ultimately the insecurities and their reactions of the less famous half of a power couple very accurately. He has evolved much from his masala actor days.

The choreography was good.

And also the lovely Mumbai visuals and farmhouse.

Some sudden changes felt forced like the Daughter's sudden outburst. The warehouse had open lower part from where Madhuri could have easily escaped but later it was shown tightly shut and she was hitting with a rod to open. How the obsessive fan could check Madhuri being his mom! And Manav Kaul decidedly looked much younger than Madhuri, didn't look like her partner. Though he tried his best. In real life he is almost 10 yrs younger and it showed.

Finally as I said earlier, the story could be more compact and engrossing.

But extremely watchable.

Nice feel good and a bit quirky one
7 November 2020
Unusual topic started intriguingly. I got caught up with the everyday issues but coming to a head very smoothly. A bit amateurish in parts but that adds to the fun. I have stayed in Delhi and have seen first hand how our fellow citizens from the North east suffer there unnecessarily. So I felt touched. The food was a curious topic which imaginatively spread out to connect the other verticals of the film. Overall a cute project with flaws but wih a beautiful feeling. I always felt Sayani gupta does meaningful movies. And when I saw here in the opening shots, I knew instinctively that I am in for a pleasant experience. Adil hussain was wasted in his minuscule role but he did perfectly. The other actors were competent.

Pretty innovative and done a difficult job within 7 min episodes
7 September 2020
The coming of 7 min episodes signal the challenge of modern reduced attention spans in the times of mobile games, netflix, youtubes and Snapchats. I was pleasantly surprised to find the dialgoues a bit corny but serving the purpose of defining the stories and character developments within the episode time limits. The story is probably hackneyed but the brief scenes try their best to expand the reach to keep it simple. Definitely I expected more with Kiefer there, but I am okay for now for overcoming the challenge. Hopefully better stories would come out later. This one was too old and rehashed too many times to get invested emotionally. That's of a man with a good heart and falsely accused of a fraud getting framed and coming out on top. Much better productions have been made of it already.

Full on action movie
4 May 2020
If you don't expect much more than seeing action of blasts, bombs and hand to hand combats, without much of any of them, and not much of background stories, then this is a fine movie. Dhaka looks like any third world country and with Hindi songs blaring out, and the Hindi style spoken bangla, it feels an Indian city and not a Bangladeshi city. Anyhow, the drug and mafia interplay and the country's top military and police brass in cohorts, tries to give a police state with a nexus much similar to African countries. The story backdrop of kidnapping and rescuing is okay, but there is no build up. The dhaka ganglord is totally unbelievable. He is not menacing at all. The child actors are better and natural. Specially the slum dwelling would be one and the kidnapped kid. Liked the Randeep huda versus Chris fighting, but the final crossing over in the bridge with huge lots of random killing and blasts are just mindless, because of lack of empathy and focus. I hope better movies will come out with more audience involvement and focussed screeplay instead of random blasts like video games.

Burn Notice: Reckoning (2013)
Season 7, Episode 13

Wonderful quirky fun to start and serious ending
4 May 2020
I started loving this series because of it's pop american style with fast cuts, jump sequences of editing, humorous quips and sassy dialogues, and the great filming of the locale. It became monotonous after 2-3 seasons. Season 4-5 were particularly drab and the characters became routines, conservative, rehashes. Seemed forced. Again from 6th season onwards things started moving up. Season 7 was a fantastic one, but it totally deviated from it's main theme. Probably that's for the better. It became serious. Lots of grandstandings, moral ethical dilemmas for the main leads. Fiona's character changed drastically to being choirgirl almost, from a funloving trigger happy girl. That and Sam also turning into a homebody, changed the scenario of the series. It hurt it. Anyhow the final season , though different in essence , recouped a lot. Lot of us shed tears for the sacrifices. Michael became sterner and his mind was tortured so much that he couldn't find the right way. This inevitably went towards finishing off the series. There was no way forward after this. They always had a small side story taking the show forward in between the starting bigger story and ending with it. The smaller story took the characters forward which somehow could adjust and settle the characters in our mind. This stories became repetitive, which was bound to happen. So probably it was required to put in a big black mission in the middle of the whole season and finish it off. Finally difficult to believe that these group being divided now will remain so forever. I want them seriously to have a get together again and lots of new adventures.

The Irishman (2019)

Wondeful film with interesting special effects
14 April 2020
I liked the movie. Almost everybody did. One of the top and probably the last of the super-acts of the giants of our era- Scorcese himself, directing De Nero, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci- who apparently came out of retirement for this gem and all the others. The pace starts slowly and gets you involved and engrossed in the career of Mob hitman and his Progress in the crime scene of the period in America. It's done in a nostalgic style, flashback upon flashbacks unfolding the important hits and milestones of De Nero's character , who was a driver at the begining and a chance meeting with Pesci's character puts him in the road to notoriety and in limelight. He is now reminiscing from an old age home, where the government agents still want to find out from him the details of his kills. Specially of Hoffa, the mega boss and friend. It's painted a broad sweep of many decades and thrown light of different aspects of politics and crime, intermingling with each other. Scorsese style, not just slam bang action. Sometimes it feels like a docu drama, where you are almost at the middle of it, but nobody can see you. So you don't loose interest. Acting, music, dialogues all are stupendous. A bit sepia toned. The special effects which change the countenances of all the senior characters over the years are spellbinding. Sometimes you are left wondering if they somehow computed de nero to look such young. It's unbelievable. But sometimes that looks too tenuous. I feel the new tech is still to be perfected. But it has tremendous potential. Great movie. Don't know when something similar will come again, or ever at all.

Catchy effective spy thriller with some psychological effects
13 April 2020
I loved the intensity of the series. Especially loved the stories focussed in usa. When in europe, it was still done well. But in Afghanistan and especially in pakistan, the local language, locations, cliches and patterns are totally wrong. Anyway, the politics behind the actions and interplay between the main characters are great. Saul is having an immense presence but sometimes look weak with his lack of actions when needed or doing much less than is required. He looks dumbfounded by events sometimes. Carrie mathison is a powerhouse with her emotional breakdowns, gradual mindbends or when in hot pursuits. The first 3 seasons were magnificent with the added treatments of Brody and his family and the delicate situations of the wife's lover and children. Later episodes were more on a thriller motif and lost the delicate touch but never lost grip on fighting the terror. Spy genre is expounded explicitly. Every characters and plots were given chance to develop and explain. Compared to that the middle east and asian parts of the stories were rapidly jumping around and is less gripping because of lack of authenticity. The final season is doing well till now. All the actors are giants in their prowess. A real pleasure to watch them. Even the small details are acted out to great perfection. Music scores build up to perfectly coordinated suspense levels. It will be a milestone series in this genre and I will remember it like forever.

Good action thrills
16 December 2019
Gerard butler is looking his part and aged here. The storyline is hackneyed and doesn't throw up any surprises or high intellect. It's a middle of the road action thriller. The villain also is very predictable . The closeness of Butler with the white house is utilised by his friend cum foe to produce a conflict and get a sizeable return out of it. Not much scope of showing acting prowess here and all have done adequately. Morgan freeman is good as a president. The storylines are made easy for the characters to show what the writers want. And that's alright. Don't expect too much and you will be happy for a popcorn evening light action fun.

Gripping and interesting
16 December 2019
The world of IPL has always been murky and dark. But cricket inspires us to no end. It was high time that some good commentary on it comes out in the entertainment industry which is pretty close to real life. Of course it will be dramatized to an extent, because it's not a documentary. But this series hook us up with it's close to real scenarios. The game is protrayed well and the shots are real. The actors look like they are playing themselves, which is different from yesteryears. The editing is excellent. Keeps us interested. The photography is top notch. Storyline is the real king here. The parallel universe of film life and sports are intertwined in india and the players are sometimes the pawns. The power brokers are politicians. The mix of drug and sex is now a modern day reality which we can not avoid anymore. The expletives do not create shock effects now as they are common place in the metropolitan lifestyle. Overall I am mighty satisfied with this second offering , following up on the first one, because it's very very difficult to do. But the writers and producers have carried on very nicely with the story. They have not removed the crowd favourite actor/characters because then it becomes very difficult to again relate to the main players. Richa chadha purposefully shows some skin and plumpiness and she has a typical understated dialogue style. Some may not like it. Her ambition in cricket power as well as films with deft tricks are fascinating. Angad bedi embodies the noble character as a captain who is respected by all, I like his acting a lot. Tanuj plays an emotional hurricane type person who is naturally talented Vayu, and not into intricate shrewd strategies. Sayani gupta is my favourite because of her intellectual sexiness. Vivek oberoi has a lesser role in the second series but done well. The main villain , bhaisaheb was done by the very talented Amir bashir. I always thought that his talent was not being utilised properly. Here he has done a good job of showing power and corruption in the high places. Sapna pabbi as his daughter oozes sex appeal but doesn't have a meaty role. The rookie fast bowler Prasant , played by Siddhant chaturvedi once again did well with his vulnerability and mix of talent and temptations. Amit sial has been his nemesis and looks properly cunning and dangerous. The others also supported very nicely. I am truly impressed with this series. I want it to go on and on.

A decent IT entertainer
5 December 2019
I enjoyed the movie. The young hacker was well played by the newcomer Manish. And the two other major characters , the police ACP and his side kick Valla, was played quite believably by the actors. There are some welcome twists. Kamyani was played with delectable visuals by Elli avram. Her entry point as the cartoon character Kung fu chameli was stunning in an yellow sari. The rapid progression to love seemed forced but the focus of the screenplay was on the other issue. The laid back but shrewd character of young hacker was portrayed well. Shades of Noir thriller comes into the fore towards the end. Some amount fun is there in the interplay between the lead characters. Well worth a watch in an evening.

Perfect mood uplifter
5 December 2019
Ayushman has made a career out of charting uncharted territories. Previously no hero would touch these types of roles, like here, being a woman caller throughout the movie. He is a true metrosexual. The movie is good because of it's fresh treatment. The story is not entirely new but done very well. The supporting cast are great, Rajesh sharma, Annu kapoor, Nusrat in a smaller role, and the friends. Specially liked the radical transformation of Annu kapoor as a love lorn old man, from a hindu to muslim convert. He owns the character. Loved the movie.

Interesting first part.

I was completely taken by surprise by the time gap between the two places , which was interspersed in the first part, leading me to believe that there two characters with similar features, which is a common theme in hindi films. But it was not so. The fast action was good with editing. Sid was sincere, Jaq was good.

A great thriller with twisted storyline
16 September 2019
It's billed as a revenge story and it is, in a way. To me ,it felt like a survival story somehow. And also its seems it's a frame by frame copy of an English film and a Hispanic film. Coming to the film, it grips you from the begining to the last frame and never let's you go. But I always had a premonition that the characters were not what they looked like on the surface. That'swhy I have deducted 2 stars from the rating. The acting pattern of Amitabh Bachhan was somehow like he is not letting you know what he knows, that's a great balance between the unknown and the overconfident . It's always very difficult to go for flashbacks to tell the story, audiences can get easily distracted. But here the screenplay keeps it tight and keeps the focus on the main issue instead of getting distracted to why and what's of the problem. The clues given in the screenplay and dialogues are good enough. Brillaint landscapes and also a tight single room drama combines to deliver a great suspence thriller. You tend to emotionally support the protagonist more but not feel very drained and break down when your calculations are rebuffed. Music is appropriate. Actors are all efficient. Good to see Amrita Singh after a long time. The husband of Tapasee was probably casted to have an opposite physical appearance with the other guy, But I didn't like the casting. To me, Tapasee Panu stole the show. Very natural for the character she needed to show. Amitabh is as usual, great. A superb thriller.

A good film on a very relevant subject
1 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Casteism is the deadliest bane of our indian society. And we must eradicate it. This is the very relevant message from the film. As a film it works well to an extent. Could have been more gripping. The movie is not a straight documentary nad nor a thriller. Difficult to meet the balance. The mood is gritty and glommy. Lots of fogs in the cinematography. Either morning fogs or evening. Slightly grey and bluish hard and dusty scenes. One common scene in reality has people gasping, that's of a cleaner going down in the drain of scums through a manhole and reappearing. The dramatic music enhances the eerie feelings. Some dialogues are incisive and shakes your beliefs and many things which took it for granted in life. The scenario js based on few real life incidents of recent times which shook the moral fibre of the whole country. But did we take any decisive action after that? That's where we have to shake our incumbency and move forward. Society should be the same for every body. Too many layers were introduced very fast and none were properly explored to give you a rounded picture. May be it's not possible logically. But I felt that we werr just given a glimpse only of the real drama of society. The Nishad angle, lowest castes, Bhim sena, mainline politics intertwining with the underworld of underprivileged and untouchables, also the mix of mainline media and booming social media etc. Many of us haven't been to the rural settings of UP-Bihar-MP-Odisa-AP-Maharshtra belt and lived a city life. Which has it's own different sets of existential issues. But in that belt, the additional casteist rules just blow you away. Even the shadows of a lower caste can't fall upon the higher one, forget about food and touching. And each of the castes have their own hierarchies among themselves. The film explores the impact of these whole conundrum upon a newly appointed IPS officer, with a multinational background and how he tries to trigger a casteless justice against the traditional heavy handed machinery of the socio-political juggernaut of the erstwhile stakeholders, but staying within the justice system. Initially he gets a shock ,but he recovers fast and stays one step ahead with his modern ideas. He has this strong humane approach which helps him reaching out to his subordinates. Two teenagers were found abducted and hung on the trees after his arrival to a north indian rural police station and the third one is still missing. He talks with his human-rights activist girlfriend and swings into action. His pro-higher caste assistant tries to scuttle the probe but ultimately he uses both diplomacy and hard nosed action to defeat the local political undercurrent and bring the underground lower caste leaders as his allies to give justice. He listens to the grievances of he poor and lower caste and they start believing in him. There are nuanced jokes like discussing castes while eating together. They hit home. Ayushman khurrana does well as the titular character but has less of physicality in his acting, which probably is less suitable for the role. He does embody the role of a western educated slightly nerdy, reader of The discovery of India, perfectly. His girlfriend's character seemed a bit imposed upon, and looks too much of a fancy dressed theoretical facebook warrior type character. Only at the end, when disclosing a deep secret to the teenage helper girl, she provides a required presence. Otherwise her role is used as a Person talking to him/herself, as seen in the yesteryear's Folk-theatre/Jatrapala, as in Vivek/Soul. Sayani gupta with her large deep eyes which says a lot without talking much ,leaves an impression. She is strong and educated to an extent, but has her priorities right. The bubbly young girl who cooks for the new Upper officer of Police , was charming and natural. Stands for the pure heart. Zeeshan is always a strong and reliable performer. Suits the role of an educated resistance leader. Police subordinates were done perfectly. I was impressed by the actor in the role of the local political leader, Anshu. Reminded of the great Raghuvaran in the film Shiva of 1990. Same nonchalance and ice cool languid physical presence. Here is no single villain in the film. It's the criminalization of the society in the name of caste, political gains and taking all these inhuman attitudes as part of the same game of keeping balance, which is shocking. We must get out of these collective apathy. As I said, this is a good movie. Not a great movie. But stirs our essence of the soul and in 2019, we should do something about it.

The Bouncer (2018)

A superb unexpected french/english film noir by Jean claude
26 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I am overjoyed to see that one of my childhood heroes has so lovingly to a genre which expands his histrionic capabilities. When you hear of JCVD, you do not expect a Noir. I never thought that he could do this. This european movie, probably Belgian/french, his native languages, is dark, gritty, brooding and tense. I didn't understand the ?french parts interspersed between the english parts. But I could follow the flow. It would have been lovely to understand the nuances of the language though. The bouncer/Lukas, is a nightclub bouncer , now in dire straits. He needs to keep up his daughter's education and lookin after properly as his wife isn't alive any more. His phone has only one number in list- his daughter's. Unfortunately he is forced to take up a bouncer's job, under a boss who prints counterfeit currency. The police agents blackmail him to be a snitch. Finally his mission succeeded but the ending is open ended. I presume to believe that he is alive. There are lots of close ups to show the lines of experience in JCVD's face. Deep furrows telling untold stories of pain, suffering but also of fights. Weary eyes carrying on for the one love of his life-his daughter, a sweet kid, she understands and respects her father for the sacrifices he made and the effort he is giving for her. And her thoughts keep JC going through this umrewarding life. The machinations of the agents force him to hoodwink his boss, who trusts him. The action sequences are few but always as per the requirement of the screenplay. Less dialogues. JCVD talks very less. Emotive eyes and actions. The violence is real life. No blockbuster sound and unbelievable effects. A grey and bluish tone throughout which matches the storyline, which is not original but executed with panache. We have all gone or going through these emotions at the wrong end of our ages, but we still have to soldier on. We feel the same pain in his eyes. It can happen to us. May be not the actions, but in other ways. The mode is same. A truly noir gem.

Enthralling realistic sci-fi without much action and aliens
26 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Unexpectedly enthralling for me. Eventhough there were lots of unexplained leads and short lead-ups in the begining. The Aliens are seen in few scenes, they stay below the ground and control the humans by collaborating legislators. The city of chicago is almost under siege. The resistance network has been working through advertisements in the newspapers. They want to destroy the aliens through one broad stroke. We just don't know what it is. All throughout the movie we are progressing towards that one final apocalypse. The mystery lies in understanding that. Gabriel is probably the main protagonist here , through whose eyes we start the movie and progress to some extent. Dark composition of the society. Everybody is oppressed. Some notes are passed over secretly and by birds, like in middle ages. The goal is to remain below the radar of the collaborators. Everybody is under observation. Some guys want to have a short burst of running away, they believe they can go beyond the purview of the aliens. But the saner ones are against that. They create a farrago of a scheme which even the close ones of the characters do not know. A senior collaborating security detective is helping Gabriel, sometimes we find he tracks him to apparently foil his efforts too. That way he catches the elder brother of Gabriel , who is a sort of hero to the other young resistance leaders by being the first one to break away. He is still living and in the hierarchy of the fight back. We are given lots of red herrings. Majority of the characters are seen as set-pieces , and the whole scene moves towards some grand scheme. Finally there is a tremendous twist which may not be understood immediately or in one view. The music is eerie. It creates an evironment of blue and grey alongwith the cinematography. There is tremendous emotional force in the people of the city to break out but hey are under tremendous pressure and controlled. The insectoid aliens are innovative. Watch it. It will give you a different perspective.

Violent so-so seagal movie
25 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The 3rd Seagal movie. I liked the first two quite a lot. He looked fresh and energetic and most importantly not fat. His actions looked forceful. Started with him leaving his job and coming to stay with his sister. But he naturally got involved in a gang-rivalry and his niece gets shot at. His family was marked for death. Lots of voodoo mannerisms and symbolic dark magic thrown in here. He swears vengeance and directs all his wrath towards the Jamaican kingpins. When he beats them to the pulp in America, he follows them back to Jamaica and beats them again. Different types of kills, tortures and violence takes place. At the end one fellow apparently was killed and gets born again and gets killed again. Alls well at the end. No need to go deep in the screenplay and logic behind all these actions. If you are in the mood of extreme violence, then you may spend 90 mins of super actions, but of course from 1990.

Popcorn rescue action film
24 June 2019
I liked this movie quite a lot. I approached without any great expectations. I knew at this age and scenario, Sly will not be doin a great deal here. And that's so. A mighty chinese business tycoon's daughter was taken and has to be extracted - that's the job. Some personal angles were brought into play. But mainly this movie was showcasing action. The chinese players brought the kung fu display. Quite good. And the American stars were doing the bone cracking wwf style things. Some shooting. The main part is shot in a prison in Latvia. It can be considered as a polished high end version of the better quality Steven Seagal style video movies. Sometimes they are pleasant enough. Sly wasn't required to do much physical action except at the end. 50 cents showed up in a blink and miss scene. The main villain was built up a lot from the screen play but the climax seemed underwhelming. No stylish brainy hi-tech plans or grandiose screen bursting moves. But some hand to hand comabats were nice.
