Battle of the Sexes (2017)
Uninteresting and Uninspiring
I think one big issue with this movie is how on the nose it is with everything, something that might be played off as just a joke in another movie is treated as if it's some afront to some PC value. I personally found Emma Stone's Billie Jean King is strangely underwhelming, not because of Emma's performance but because of the writing. The dynamic that goes on between her, her girlfriend, and husband feels just unintentionally dull. Her relationship with Marilyn is severley undeveloped. Bobby Rigs character plays off great on his own! He seems to have depth and flaws, but still his character is diservised by the empty she'll of "Billie Jean King". This film should have some good set designs, and there are moments you can point out that do feel like the 70s but overall none of the set pieces feel all that nostalgic or representative of the time. I do give props to the hair and makeup/costume department they really pulled off the clothes and makeup of the characters really well. The cinematography is blank and doesn't do anything. The acting is filled with holes, all the extras and supporting cast is as dry as the sahara, with two exceptions. Emma Stone's and Steve Carell do seem to give it their best shots and I think you can tell. Steve Carell really fits his role and seems to actually have fun, Emma Stone's performance was probably the best it could be. I think this movie is just disappointing, the story seems to be filled with so much meat but I think the writers we're to afraid to create an actual character for Billie Jean King and just ended up making a Mary Sue that dragged the whole story down.
The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
An amazing movie!
There really isn't much to say past that! It's an AMAZING film! The story is so intoxicating, we get to watch Jodie Foster's character grow and enter into a horrific world that she navigates so well! Anthony Hopkin's Hannibal Letter is a superb character, he's shear genius! And Buffalo Bill is a truly terrifying villain! The stage is set so perfectly for Jodie Foster's character and it just all falls into place!
A Patch of Fog (2015)
An interesting dance of two extreme characters
This movie is a beautiful story about two characters. The dynamic is so great with it's cat and mouse storyline. The actors shine bright, delivering powerful performances that are convincing to say the least! The cinematography is so well done and is almost half the movie!
