After one season, i'm glad to look out for the next ones. It is funny, while a good cop show as well. The actors are good and create not so subtle but likable characters.

But most important, the villains are imaginative and surprising, which is the evaluating note of any cop show. So go for it, entertainment guaranteed.

All the usual assets of British TV, great acting, quality cinematography, refined writing, but somehow it fails to entertain.

Might be my taste only so i sure hope someone else rates it better.

Well a good liar is just a successful crook, as is the guru to which this sad sack of lies is dedicated.

Unfortunately a bunch of people are tired of truth and democracy, and even more unfortunately they are good at concatenation of distorted facts and mobilizing editing of falsely presented images.

I have always been in love with propaganda films. I believe propaganda is the natural honest language of movies, fiction and realism are its lies. The use of images to shape reality in a message, rather than anchor the message in reality, is the truest use of the visual. Therefore from Riefenstahl to Santiago Alvarez, i genuinely admire the propagandists of the moving pictures.

And i must say that Amanda Milius is a promising addition to the list. But the bad part is that agit-prop is a fun mind game for people who chose to be informed, a dangerous brainwashing for those who enjoy not being informed. And in these times and place this movie can and will do a lot of harm.

So don't get me wrong, it's not bad, just disappointing.

This is one of the most beautiful shows around, cinematography and scenery go hand in hand to offer some of the most stunning imagery in recent years. The actors go all in to offer a gallery of characters.which are both compelling and easily likable or joyously distasteful.

So why disappointing? Because of the massive tsunami of useless, conceited, self-serving dialogue. Where the whole concept would have benefited from violent silence, we get endless blabbering.

So, i still rate it highly watchable, just turn the sound off.

This is so bad, even D'Amato or Bill Zebub would refuse to have their names listed on the credit. This is so bad Romero's or Z-Nation's zombies might sue for discrimination towards the dead, this is so bad i might actually chose to watch zack snider's unbearable dawn of the dead again rather than episode 2 of this day of the dead. Now don't say you've not been warned.

Everything that is good in this movie is what was good in the movies he directed. The subversion of horror tropes in political fodder, the use of the safety net provided by the supernatural to unveil the brutal reality faced for too long by black people. In this regard Candyman 2021 works perfectly and leads to a grand ending.

Unfortunately, as it has chosen not to be too scary and as limitedly graphic as possible for that kind of story, it feels slow and forced at times, despite good acting and nice camera work. The original candyman and horror fans may be put off by the pace and.the modesty of the gore. Fans of the movies mr Peele also directed may find the editing and camera work too tame.

However, for the casual viewer not arriving there with particular expectations, this is a fine horror movie which keeps you interested up to a worthwhile ending.

I did not watch the same movie as the other reviewers, therefore the more positive notation. This is not a vampire comedy, this is a political satire with vampires, in the same way "Juan de los muertos" was a political satire with zombies.

The film pokes fun at Hungary in the Kadar and Brejnev era, and there is a number of nice jokes about the great camaraderie of socialist countries. Our vampire here is both the unruly presence of opposants second guessing the system and the appetite for western freedom and wealth.

This is a well done, nicely acted, and fun film. A little slow sometimes but overall quite a nice bit of self deriding post communism reflection. We would do well in the western block to have that much humour sometimes.

Let's use an Hitchcock premise, someone who is impaired becomes the target of a ruthless villain. Let's stage it in a country who's not better known for the treatment of women. You have "Midnight" .

The actors are great, the story works, the suspense is nice.

Of course it may be 30 minutes too long, it still is a good thriller.

This is a movie which has generated heated debates in France. Loosely based on a real case of police corruption, it prompted political siding of both critics and viewers, both police union and BLM equivalents. Depending on opinions the movie was either praised for its honest depiction of lawlessness in some urban zones or reviled as a racist caricature of same areas.

The truth is that it probably is both and that the movie doesn't have much to offer in terms of insight on these subjects. This is no "la Haine" or "les misérables". It is a cop movie, very much in the vein of french cop movies of the last 10 years, disenchanted and brutal.

The first 70 minutes are great, fast paced and good storytelling, but in the last 30 minutes when the focus shifts from urban cop work to individual fates, i don't want to spoil, it suddenly loses all rhythm and acting becomes caricatural. It's like the director had gone missing and the second unit director had to finish the movie. It is a pity as there are lots of good things in there.

A movie about a very important subject or subjects, with excellent actors' performances, good cinematography, but rather poor writing.

The message delivery is efficient but not nuanced enough that it would sway anyone not sympathetic. Rape, racism, poverty, as many subjects where people choose the blind eye rather than the open heart. Unfortunately Boisset's "dupont la joie" might work better than "coup de chaud" in exposing everyday malignancy.

So not a great movie, but a valuable exposure.

Well this is not an unmissable movie by any standard, but as everyone knows, who has been to a Neil Young gig, you cannot help falling in love with, in awe of, the artist. So you get seduced by the simplicity and truth of this movie as you would in a Neil Young concert.

This is a movie shot over a few days, so it should be rated as you would an end of cursus student effort, and in that case it is, to play with words, "the great silence" of student movies. The plot is inexistent but the images are great, and the music is outstanding.

Just go and roll with it if you feel like it. Stay clear if you only listen to bland pop supermarket sugar.

This movie has values as far as women power goes, it also offers a good dose of fighting. And then you get bored.

Actors are under-used and.fights are over-played. There is so much else you can watch.

I am sure there are tons of talented christian artists, and faith is a unending provider of great subjects. So why do we keep getting these terrible movies?

Where are the christian movie makers and writers that would put faith as part of a great film, or even just a good film. A film that doesn't need to preach, a film that could allow people of faith to be self-mocking without being deriding or self-satisfying without being indulgent. Or films that could still tackle issues without being endlessly militant. It can be done, see for instance the french "coexister" or "of god and men", very different but equally great, or even Terence Malick's "the tree of life".

And maybe it is not an issue with artists but with financing and distribution, but whatever the cause, this is another good premise wasted on a very very poor result.

Ah remember the time when tan marks helped you identify the naughty bits you hungered for and were not supposed to see? Tanned, Ok but edgy, white, oh lord spare me the sins and decadence.

So what could get you antsy and horny in these pre seventies? Well, lots of easy sex with girls without inhibitions and guys with over-filled knickers, they are smoking after sex, smoky during and barely lit before.

Very sweet in some way as to what phantasms were but very boring as well. And the classical music playing out loud as background won't change that movies and sex are still a missed encounter.

Watch something else.

Although universal in its confronting of a nation's opinions and its news, in a time when news are more into courting viewers than informing then, this needs, to be fully appreciated, to know the Viennese people, a small tribe inhabiting the capital of Austria.

Seidl, Glawogger, Wagner and company put their skills to great use editing news footage and documentary data and views of the population against each other. You'd wish this was part of a series having done the same for various countries across the world.

But again, unfortunately this effort relies on your oh yes, of course, moment when you are shown what should have been obvious to you when you lived there. It could be disappointing for foreigners or casual tourists.

The lower depths of movie making for the megashark of the moment. It could have been just bad, it's worse. The acting is so bad that you wonder if the actors had to pay to appear int he movie, the six are non existant as the said megalodon doesn't really make an appearance in the movie. However mandarine translation seems to be very important in the plot for reasons which escape my cantonese.

Well there are so many movies with teeth pleading for your attention out there, go see them.

I am not into the stones but i watched this with a couple of friends who are. They found it cool, i found it long. They disapproved of the Stones commenting as a voice over rather than in person, i found it a redeeming ploy, allowing to show more archive and news shots which gave a better feeling of the times. They thought the song list lacked ambition, i do agree that even i knew all of the titles featured.

So all in all a nicely edited documentary, but more suited for the band's existing fans.

I hate the pro-life movies and their outrageous depiction of abortion. But i am pained by pro choice propaganda which chooses the same approach as the right-wingers opposants to women rights.

Neither the pro or the anti give any regards to women's feelings and battles. This is why they are equally repulsive.

Of course the manipulation of young women by repugnant, hideous, heartless, lying sons and daughters of non aborted b... pro lifers is heartbreaking, but does it serve any purpose to show them all as non humans?

I know several women who made the brutal choice of abortion, none of them did it without pain, guilt and doubt. They did it because their life circumstances were what they were. They did it because the had to. And pro life as well as pro choice movies never reflect that. Militants have no empathy, no sympathy, just calculated visibility.

I respect women, so i obviously am pro choice, but that doesn't make me blind to the ones who don't understand that this is NEVER a light and easy choice. That giving your child away for adoption will never make it a more satisfying choice than aborting a non existant foetus.

This documentary fails to highlight this and is therefore no better than the pro life stupidities on our screens.

Well scripted face to face between a FBI agent and the notorious serial killer Theodore Bundy. The two main actors are great, and their performance are the backbone of this movie.

This said, except if you are fascinated by the birth of profiling or by serial killers as a cognitive mystery, you may get bored. I did.

If you do a show about wrestling, at least show some wrestling or hire some wrestlers. This is as empty as a badly booked wrestling show, the story isn't compelling, the acting is bland and you cannot wait for it to end.

I endured two episodes, won't make it farther, so if it gets better from episode 3, sorry for the harsh review.

Great director, great musicians, great actors, big fail!

Wanting to be new doesn't always lead to being creative, and that's where Leos Carax didn't succeed.

You can feel the effort to re-invent the musical genre, the song where unexpected, the song where obvious but not logical, the voice over over the voices, the drama.mocked and the comedy distorted, this is a movie by an innovative film maker, but he forgot about movie goers. Is it the fault of producers? Is is the fault of the system? We'll wait for a director's cut.

This version doesn't work. That's too bad.

Lazy evening, good pop corn, this is the right movie to add to the mix.

It has a good balance of deadpan comedy and over the top action, it has the usual Korean production values and a great roster of well known faces delivering manichean characters, no risks of brain clusters but a definitive zygomatic exercise.

To sum it up, if you've done your monthly duty of high brow movie going, treat yourself to this couple hours of pure entertainment.

Warning: if you are not acquainted with french cinema and its stars and cult actors, you may miss the point of this movie entirely. However watch it with someone who is and you'll get a crash course in french cinema plus a funny take on the quirks and tropes of its big faces.

There may be a plot, but it's not the point, this is a love letter to actors from one of the best actor director and dialogs writer in the business, Bertrand Bier, son of Bernard, one of the best actors ever, has directed 20 movies to date, and worked with the best actors of his generation. He made Depardieu, Miou-Miou or Dewaere households names, he gave Alain Delon, Jeanne Moreau, or Michel Blanc their most unexpected roles, or gifted Michel Serrault, jean Carmet. Charlotte Gainsbourg, Josiane Balasko or Gérard Lanvin with their best lines ever.

So It is no surprise that everybody who was someone in french cinema in 2000 answered present to his call, at least on the male side, this is les "les acteurs", unfortunately he never got around to making "les actrices", From Delon to Dussolier, Belmondo to Brasseur, Depardieu to Marielle, Galabru to Brialy, Arditi, and so on... they are all here, deliciously self parodying their on screen persona, magnifying the very witty dialogs they're given, and even the ghosts of past greatness (gabin, ventura, Blier and Brasseur's fathers) are very sweetly and delicately called to the screen.

This is a singular gem, to be cherished by all cinema lovers, as it shall walk them through all their years of movie going and recall all the emotions they have had in from of a silver screen.
