A wondeful historical movie
15 December 2019
I really loved this movie about an interesting story, well told by Polanski. There is an accurate research and a very good cinematographic transposition of what happened in France with the Affair Dreyfus, that many people still don't know. It is important to talk about it, especially with this pathos and care of the details. Definitely a movie to see.

A nice comedy, not a masterpiece
15 December 2019
Woody Allen is not between my favourite directors and this movie isn't better neither worst than how I expected. Some dialogues are amazing, although I lost several parts because I watched the movie in english without subtitles, others are too obvious. I was hoping in a different end, maybe unexpected. I liked the protagonist and the city of New York, but I would have liked to see more about it, its atmosphere and energy. Here the focus is always on the characters, although not all of them are really interesting. It is a nice comedy, nothing more.

King Lear (2018 TV Movie)

A contemporary Shakespeare
15 December 2019
In this movie one of the most famous tragedies written by Shakespeare is settled in the contemporary age, although the text is basicly faithful to the original. I don't like when an historical opera is completely modified in its context, costumes, location and time, so this is the main reason why I didn't love this movie. Anthony Hopkins' interpretation is great and also the other actors are good, however so much is missed if Shakespeare is played in a totally different era. Men are always men, but all the rest have changed and the best part of the tragedy - the historical setting - is lost. Furthermore, "King Lear" is not my favourite opera written by Shakespeare.

An interesting movie about the youthness of King Henry V
14 December 2019
"The king" is a good movie about the youthness of Henry V, especially the period just before he became king and the first war against France. It is interesting to follow the change of his personality after having inherited the crown, due to power, fear, responsability, enemies and the difficulty to trust in someone. It is also an important moment in the history of England, although unfortunately Henry V is not much told by movies or books. One more reason to appreciate this work.

Very far from reality but compelling
26 November 2019
If you are looking for a real historical fiction about Leonardo da Vinci this is not the right series to watch. Fantasy and dark worlds, contaminations from Dracula and the contemporary era make this fiction strange and unlikely, but to be faithful to reality is not the main goal of the director. So, if you take the series as it is, with a Leonardo that is a genius but also a sort of rockstar, then you can appreciate it and have fun following his adventures. I liked him and I liked the count Riario and Zo. The rythm is good, in each episode many things happen and you really want to discover what will happen at the end. Three seasons are long, but if you are not in a hurry it is a good way to spend some hours.

Not bad, but it could have been better
26 November 2019
I was expecting something more from this movie signed by Edward Norton with an important cast. However, the story doesn't seem to be strong enough: I found some points a bit unlikely and the priority of the director is to create suspence and twists. However, this happens too many times in the movie and at the end not all the subplots are closed, or the finals are not convincing. I didn't appreciate the movie how I was expecting from the trailer, so in conclusion I was a bit disappointed.

Such a beautiful comedy!
26 November 2019
I adored this romantic and retrò movie! I think that many people can recognize themselves in the situation of the protagonists, especially couples who have been married for a long time. Through the past that comes back and becomes true, they find a new light in their life and love. The idea to create a set in which anyone could experience the era that he most likes is brilliant and I would be the first client if this would be really possible. The idea is smart and original. Many intense moments bring with them some tears, but also laughs and passion. It is definitely a movie to watch!

A wonderful movie and a fantastic Joker
6 November 2019
I loved this movie as I did with the first one, but in this case Heath Ledger in the role of Joker raises the quality. He is fantastic, deep and craizy at the same time, one of the best Joker ever seen on the screen. The direction signed by Nolan doesn't disappoint the expectations and the same thing can be said for Christian Bale. Again, I didn't like the actress chosen for Rachel. Unforgettable movie!

A great movie, as all the trilogy
6 November 2019
I think this is the best Batman produced, with a perfect cast and a good direction. The entire trilogy of Batman made by Nolan shows a high quality in all its aspects and in my opinion Christian Bale is perfect for the role of Bruce Wayne. I don't like Katie Holmes for the nice figure of Rachel, but this is just a personal opinion. Certainly a must to see.

Probably the best Tarantino's movie
30 October 2019
Everybody knows "Pulp fiction", so another review seems useless. I can only say that this is probably the best movie signed by Tarantino, a real cult who influenced entire generations. Some scenes, like the dance between Uma Thurman and John Travolta, are just epic. Amazing and brilliant.

There is still hope for humanity
30 October 2019
The protagonist of this movie can be considered an antihero, hidden behind a mask, but very different from characters like Batman or Superman. Although he wants revenge and he shows no pity for those men who destroied his life and made many people suffer, he is also a romantic hero full of dreams and hopes for humanity. He believes in a new better world and he is ready to die for it. The character is inspired to Edmond Dantes, the Count of Monte Cristo. It is a very good movie, deep and full of quotes.

One of the best story from Disney
30 October 2019
The movie is beautiful like the cartoon. It is faithful to the story, the scenes and the movies of the original one, with a really good quality. I loved it, as I loved the first "The lion king".

An interesting reflection about the future of humanity
30 October 2019
Reality and fantasy are mixed in this movie, that offers many reasons to think about the future of humanity. The arrival of a powerful AI is impellent and we are all enthusiastic, but what will happen then? We will be able to control it or it will become indipendent and maybe dangerous for us? And what can be considered alive? A machine who is able to think and feel emotions isn't a new life form? This is deep movie that opens to many questions, at the moment still without a clear answer.

A nice love story from Nicholas Sparks
30 October 2019
A typical love story inspired by a Nicholas Sparks' novel. Although the plot is simple and the characters a little stereotyped, it is a pleasure sometimes to watch a romantic movie like this. I enjoyed it because i didn't have great expectations. It is perfect to spend two house in relax.

An interesting movie about the Bronte sisters
30 October 2019
This movie is about the story of the three famous Bronte sisters: Anne, Charlotte and Emily. It shows their life not only as writers, but also as women with many difficulties: not enough money to marry, a good father who is becoming blind and a terrible brother destroied by alchol, until his dramatic death. Through the movie we can undertstand the differences between the sisters: Charlotte was obessed by publishing to provide enough money for the family, Emily was interested only in the writing and she hated any kind of notoriety, Anne was sweet and always ready to help their sisters. It seems that they were very close, sharing the pain due to their problematic brother. I liked this movie very much and I discovered Emily's poets, that I didn't know. I will read them in italian and english.

Interesting and deep story signed by Almodovar
15 August 2019
If you are expecting a funny and ironic movie, this is not for you. In this case Almodovar talks about serious and deep matters, he creates an interesting protagonist with a strong story and it confuses times and places in order that you can understand all his life only at the end. Banderas is good in the role of the gay director full of phisical and psichological problems, looking for a reason to write and work again. Some scenes are really emotional, especially the relationship with his mother. I liked it very much.

A nice movie but nothing special
15 August 2019
I was expecting something more from this movie that disappointed me a little bit. The first part is very long and when the thriller/mistery starts, you finally become involved in the plot, but the solution of the enigma is actually very simple and maybe nonsense. You are always waiting for a revelation that never comes, so at the end there is a sort of disappointment, although the actors are good. I think the screenplot is the main weakness of the entire movie, maybe it could have been developed in a different way.

A strong and touching movie about the problem of drugs
15 August 2019
The entire family of this movie is involved in the big problem of drugs and they fight to jump out from it, trying to help their son Ben to detoxify himself. But it is not easy and a Christmas with the family can bring him back, creating also some critical and dangerous situations to all the family. However, her mother never leaves him alone and they always fight together. It is a strong movie, very touching in some moments, so I liked it. It showes how drugs can change not only your life, but also the life of all the people near you. It makes think and know better this problem.

Interesting series but a bit boring
4 August 2019
Although the subject of the series is interesting and the scenes are accurate, the rythm from the beginning to the end is very low. Cromwell didn't have a passionate life full of adventures and events, so the main facts actually regard the people around him: Kind Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn and the english court. He is a silent figure and the actor has always the same expression. I liked it, but I prefered other historical fictions like the Tudors or Versailles.

Magnificent!
6 July 2019
I watched this musical twice and I loved it very much. It has all the elements that makes a movie special: good actors, nice soundtracks, a beautiful and interesting story based on a real figure, the right rythm, positive messages, many emotions. It is romantic, funny, cheerful, it makes cry and laugh, dream and be sad. Hugh Jackman here shows all his talent not only as an actor, but also as a singer and a dancer. Magnificent!

Nothing special
17 June 2019
I watched this movie in english and it was good only for my learning of the language. The plot is quite stupid and banal, I didn't like the actors and everything here is really mediocre. It was supposed to be a love story but there is not so much love and romanticism; what is more, the woman protagonist of the movie is very upsetting. I expected something more.

Another well done documentary about Caravage
17 June 2019
I liked this documentary, although it is one of the many made about the figure of Michelangelo Merisi. I didn't find it expectional, but I appreciated the work done to show the masterpieces of art signed by the painter. Here relevance is given to one exhibition specifically, called by the name of the movie, so we can also understand how it is the backstage of an exhibition. I found very interesting the interviews with some professionists, while others of them where not so inherent, in my point of view. It is certainly useful to watch it if you like Caravaggio and you want to know something more about him, but without going to much inside the man and the artist. Not good for the experts.

The best series about Louis XIV
17 June 2019
I loved all the three seasons of this series, that I consider the best one about life and troubles of king Louis XIV. The actors are really good and the characters amazing, each one with his own strong personality that grows and changes from the beginning to the end. The context in which the story takes place is very well described, so that we can learn a lot about costumes and problems in France at that period; specifically, we can understand the reasons that finally brought to the French revolution. It is also explained step by step the building process of the magnificent Versailles, giving a soul to this place. At the same time, we can know the most important facts and adventures occured inside the palace. The history is well mixed with the fiction, the suspence is always high, you finally love some of the characters and hate others. I really suggest this fiction to all those people that love France and its history.

Don Chisciotte told by the special voice of Terry Gilliam
1 June 2019
This Don Chisciotte is another movie signed by Terry Gilliam in which the director uses all his imagination, fantasy and talent. Anyone else wouldn't tell the story of the famous knight in this amazing and extravagant way. The message of the story is preserved, but the structure of the movie is original and full of symbolism. Funny and kitsch scenes, nonsense, oniric situations and characters. I liked it, although it isn't an easy and simple movie to watch and to understand.

A nice and sweet movie about the illness of Parkinson
23 May 2019
I appreciated this movie, sweet and deep, about the love story between a young, cool and healthy guy and a girl who has to deal with the Parkinson. Anne Hathaway is one of my favourite actresses, so this makes me feel much more empathic with her. Some dialogues where too easy and poor for the theme and the situations, so I wouldn't give to the movie more than 7 stars, but I liked it and it's my advice to watch it an evening at home. It is not so sad, just sweet and tender, touchable in some moments.
