Just My Luck (2006)

Lindsay has disappointed me
21 August 2006
Before I saw "Just my Luck" I thought it was going to be entertaining and cute, but it wasn't. When I saw this movie, I felt really disappointed. First, because I love Lindsay Lohan and I thought she will give something good to this movie, but she didn't. Second, because this movie is finally a typical American teen comedy in which a man and a woman fall in love.

This movie tells us the story of Ashley Albright, the luckiest person in New York, who organizes a masks party for a man, she meets Jake and kisses him. After kissing Jake, who is the unluckiest person in New York, he gets the good luck and she gets the bad luck. After that, Ashley will look for the man who stole her luck.

In the cast of the movie Lindsay Lohan plays Ashley, Chris Pine plays Jake, Faizon Love as rich Damon Phillips and Missi Pile as Ashley's boss, Peggy Braden.

Teenage girls will love this movie, but I don't think boys will like. "Just my Luck" is the typical comedy in which a man and a woman fall in love and the people around also find a love.

Cute teen comedy
21 August 2006
"Aquamarine" seems the typical teen romantic comedy, and it is, but I'm not saying that this movie is bad, because is not. This movie is cute, funny and entertaining. It is a good comedy about friendship and love.

All begins when two teenagers, Claire and Hailey discover in their beach club's swimming pool a young mermaid called Aquamarine, who has escaped from an arranged wedding. She must find a love in three days, to show her father that love exists. Then she falls in love with the lifeguard Raymond. Claire and Hailey help her to get Raymond because if they help a mermaid they can get a wish, so they use their wish to stop Hailey' mom moving to Australia.

The cast includes Sara Paxton as Aquamarine, Emma Roberts as Claire, Joanna "JoJo" Levesque as Hailey and Jake McDormand as Raymond. "Aquamarine" is a cute comedy full of funny situations and love and friendship scenes. Don't miss this movie, it's not a waste of time.

A mixture between "Titanic" and "The perfect storm"
20 August 2006
"Poseidon" is the remake of "The Poseidon Adventure" 1972 classic. I would like to watch that movie, but if it is as bad and boring as this remake, I'll never watch it. This film is boring and very short, but has good special effects. The script is very simple, but the assembly and the soundtrack are not bad. It seemed like Wolfgang Petersen made a mixture between his "Perfect Storm" and "Titanic", but obviously the result is awful.

The story begins in New Year's Eve, when ocean liner "Poseidon" capsizes after being swamped by a big tidal wave. The survivors will try to survive and escape from the sinking ship.

The cast is not bad. Their performances were not bad. But Kurt Russell and Josh Lucas acted as the great heroes in the film, but they don't know how to play a good hero.

This film is depressing, exhausting and will give you a bad headache. Don't go see it if you don't want the headache I had. I can't believe that Wolfgang Petersen has made this movie, because I loved other of his movies like "Troy" and "The Neverending Story". Sincerely, Petersen, you have disappointed me.

Creepy and bloody... Yeah, great!
19 August 2006
"The Hills Have Eyes" is the remake of Wes Craven's 1977 horror classic. I haven't seen that one,but I've seen this, and I loved it. It's creepy, bloody, amazing and thrilling. Alexander Aja did a great and surprisingly good film that left me scared for a few days.

This movie tells the story of family Carter, who, during a trip to California, got stuck in the desert in New Mexico, where a mutated group of monstrous people because of a 1945 bomb impact. These people want to kill the family and eat them. But the family will try to survive.

The soundtrack, the assembly and the script are really good. And the performances also are. Aaron Stanford, Vinessa Shaw, Emilie de Ravin and Dan Byrd were the best actors in the film. The make up was really cool, the mutated people seemed real...

Well, in my opinion, this movie is excellent and I loved it. You also will love it. If you like creepy and bloody films you will like this one. You won't be sorry.

Not so scary, but still a great film
19 August 2006
I saw this movie and I loved it. It's not very scary, and it won't leave you scared for days, but has some good frightening scenes. Betsy's torture scenes were really cool. The soundtrack, the script and the clothes in the film are very good, but mainly the assembly. It was great and it was a very good recreation of the 19th century.

This movie tells the story about a family from Red River, Tennessee, family Bell, who begins being hounded by a mysterious spirit of a witch. This witch tortures and abuses the father, John Bell and his daughter Betsy for four years, until the death of John. This tale is based on the true events of the only case in US History where a spirit causes the death of a human being.

I don't know exactly the story of the Bell Witch, but I think that the whole film is not true. Even so, it was great and amazing. The performances of James D'Arcy and young Rachel Hurd-Wood were really good. But I think that the performances of veterans Sissy Spacek and Donald Sutherland were the best.

Well, in my opinion, this movie was strange but also brilliant. You should watch it. If you are intelligent and you like thinking, go see this movie.

Absolutely great!
22 July 2006
I honestly think this is the best X-Men film of the three. This one is different than the first two, but is still good. Bryan Singer is replaced by Brett Ratner. He has done a great job. Amazing special effects, a wonderful cast and some good new actors make this film a great and well done job.

When a new "cure" for mutants is found, Magneto and his mutants decide to make a war against the X-Men, led by Professor Xavier. In Xavier's team there are new mutants, like Shadowcat, Angel ,Beast and Colossus. In Magneto's, there are some of them too: Callisto, Juggernaut and Multiple Man.

The new actors and actresses in the film are really good: Ellen Page(Shadowcat), Dania Ramirez(Calisto), Daniel Cudmore(Colossus), Ben Foster(Angel) and Kelsey Grammar(Beast). The rest of the original cast is also great: Halle Berry(Storm), Hugh Jackman(Wolverine), Famke Janssen(Phoenix), Anna Paquin(Rogue), Ian McKellen(Magneto), Patrick Stewart(Charles Xavier),Rebeca Romijn(Mystique)...

I think Brett Ratner did a great job and he can be proud. The two first "X-Men" are wonderful too, but not like this one.

Not like the first "Ice Age"
22 July 2006
"Ice Age: The Meltdown" is a funny decent sequel, but is not as good as the original. It has it moments, but that's it. Some situations are very funny, but not as in the first "Ice Age". That film was really nice and sweet. This one is sillier and more disappointing. But it's not bad. It should have been better.

Manfred, Sid and Diego return and shows us that they must to emigrate again because of the Meltdown, that is going to destroy their valley. So they unite and warn everyone in the valley about that terrible situation.

This sequel is not bad, it's quite good, but some situations are a bit silly and some designs of new supporting characters are really bad. Scrat is this time the new star of the show, and it's really good. This time he is as good and funny as in the original

If you didn't like the original, see this movie. This one is different as the first one. If you liked the original, see this movie, but I think you will be a bit disappointed...

Funny and sweet
19 July 2006
"Ice Age" is funny and delightful and will make you laugh a lot. Kids and adults will love it. This is an entertaining film that everybody will love. Every situation has a good joke and it's impossible to get bored with them.

The film tells the story about a mammoth called Manfred, a sloth called Sid and a sabertooth tiger called Diego, who find a little human baby boy during the Ice Age, so they try to return him to his family. They will live funny and exciting situations.

The script is very good, and the dialogues are really funny, specially with the character of the sloth Sid. He is not the only one who will make you laugh. The squirrel Scrat will entertain you just from the beginning, when he appears. He won't live without his dear nut.

Chris Wedge and Carlos Saldanha worked very good as a team, and they did a great job together. They can be proud. The voices of the characters are also really good, specially the voices of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo,Goran Visnjic and Jack Black. Their voices and their characters worked really great during the film.

Well, you will like this film, specially children. Don't miss it.You won't lament. See this film if you want to laugh.

A bit disappointing, but cute and funny
2 July 2006
I saw this film thinking it was going to be great, but it wasn't. Well, I liked it, it was cute and it was funny, but not as I expected. Even so, this film made me laugh sometimes. It was a good story about love and what things you can do for love.

It tells the story about a beautiful doctor called Elizabeth who, after a car accident, she becomes a spirit, but her body is in hospital. Some days after, a lonely widower architect called David moves to Elizabeth's apartment. But soon her spirit appears and says him that he must leave her house. But when she discovers that she's a spirit, they become friends, and he helps her to find out what happened to her. Soon, he will fall in love with Elizabeth.

The cast is not brilliant(except for Reese Witherspoon), but it's OK. Witherspoon is a great actress, and this film made me love more her. She's a brilliant actress. Mark Ruffalo is also good, but not as good as Reese. The director, Mark Waters, did this film well, but I think it could be better. This one is not as good as "Mean Girls" or "Freaky Friday", two of my favorite films.

Well, I think people should watch this film with their partner. Girls will love this romantic comedy. Go watch it if you like romance films.

Sleepy Hollow (1999)

Another amazing movie from Burton
1 July 2006
Well, Tim Burton does it again. Nobody does it like Burton! He's a genius. This movie is a proof of his talent. This film is scary, exciting, beautiful and thrilling. It is well made and the make up, the clothes, and the sound and visual effects are really good.

Its script mixes action, fun, thriller and horror situations, and that makes the film absolutely great. It has it moments, some of them really funny. Some of the are also very scary.

"Sleepy Hollow" tells the story of an American constable called Ichabod Crane who is sent by his boss to Sleepy Hollow, an isolated village, where he must investigate a series of murders committed by a supposed headless horseman.

This film is very well acted. That's because his great cast, starring Johnny Depp as Ichabod Crane, Christina Ricci as Katrina Van Tassel, Miranda Richardson as her stepmother Mary Van Tassel, Michael Gamobn as Katrina's father,Baltus and Christopher Walken as the Hessian Horseman. But the cast is not complete; it is completed by Jeffrey Jones, Lisa Marie, Casper Van Dien, Michael Gough, Richard Griffiths, Ian McDiarmid and Christopher Lee. This cast is absolutely great.

The music in the film is very interesting and wonderful. Created by Burton's friend Danny Elfman, this soundtrack is good and dark. I want Tim Burton to keep working with the great Elfman.

Tim Burton should keep making films like this one, like this type of films, because they're all really amazing and beautiful. I'll always trust in you, Burton.

Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse!
30 June 2006
Wow, this is one of the best Tim Burton's movies. It's funny, it's cute, it's well-acted, it's charming... It's very entertaining and interesting. All the actors are really good, specially Michael Keaton and Catherine O'Hara. They're very funny.

Very common in Tim Burton, always trusting in the wonderful composer Danny Elfman, who also has composed for many Tim Burton films like "Edward Scissorhands", "Batman" and "Batman Returns". This time, Elfman's music is as great as those other films. He shows us a dark, original but simultaneously funny and cool soundtrack.

The script in the film is very good and original. Some situations are really funny and some characters say things that makes you laugh a lot.

"Beetle Juice" tells us the story of a recently deceased married couple, Adam and Barbara, who are locked up in their big house after they had the car accident,so they can't leave their house. Days later, a strange and crazy family (a suffered man, Charles, his crazy artist wife Delia and his daughter Lydia) moved to their house. But Adam and Barbara don't want them to live in their house, so they decided to call a bio-exorcist called Betelgeuse, who can help them to expel the family. But there is one problem: Betelgeuse is not like Adam and Barbara hoped.

The protagonists in this film are Michael Keaton as Betelgeuse, Geena Davies as Barbara, Alec Baldwin as Adam, Catherine O'Hara as Delia, Jeffrey Jones as Charles and Winona Ryder as Lydia.

One of thew best parts in the film are very very funny, like the scene when Delia, Charles and Lydia are having dinner in the house with some friends and they begin to dance. Wow, that scene was really funny and I enjoyed it. Another great part in the film was the ending, when Adam and Barbara make Lydia dance after they notice she pass his Maths exam. A really cool and funny scene.

Please, watch this film. It's really a typical Burton movie, you should see it. You will like and you will fall in love (with Betelgeuse?). You also will enjoy with the fantastic Betelgeuse character. But only one thing: don't say his name three times!

I want to be a superhero, too!
28 June 2006
This film is amused, cute, cool and incredibly great! It is not a masterpiece, or it isn't an Oscar film either, but it is a movie that makes you laugh and it amuses much to you. It really shows you how it is the friendship and what to do to have friends and simultaneously to be popular in an institute. The assembly of the film is great, and also those great special effects, and the suits of superheroes are really cool.

Will Stronghold is a young boy son of the most famous superheroes in the world, The Commander and Jetstream. Then, he must go to Sky High school for superheroes, where he will be able to develop his powers. But there is a problem for Will: he hasn't discovered his power yet.

The protagonists are Kurt Russell and Kelly Preston as The Commander and Jetstream. Michael Angarano as Will. And wonderful Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Gwen Grayson. This film is full of action, fun and emotion. Go watch it. Surely that you will fall in love with her. If you like Superman or Fantastic Four, rent this film, and you will see the amount of superpowers that superheroes can get.

Boring and silly
28 June 2006
"Cheaper by the Dozen" turns out to be a boring and idiot film for all the family. I have not seen the original film, but I doubt that this new one is better. This film is too infantile, with Steve Martin doing more trivialities than his own children in the film.

Tom Baker and his wife Kate have twelve children, of whom they are very proud. Tom is a football trainer and his boss offers him to go to live with his family to an enormous house in a big city to be the trainer of a famous football team. At the beginning, all the things go well, but later the children begin to miss their old house.

The protagonists of this film are Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt as Tom and Kate and Piper Perabo, Tom Welling and Hilary Duff as the three eldest children: Nora, Charlie and Lorraine. It is a film for all the family, and little children will love it. But even so, if you want to see it, there you. I hated this one and I'm not going to see more than once. Do the same, and don't rent this film, for God's sake.

Absolutely better than the first Bakers adventure
27 June 2006
"Cheaper by the Dozen 2" is a film done specially for children, who will like this much. It is perfect to see in family. No doubt, this film is better than "Cheaper the Dozen 1", that I did not like absolutely. On the contrary that the first movie, this film is entertaining, amusing and watchable. The new eventful journeys of the family Baker are really great. Steve Martin returns to play Tom, Bonnie Hunt plays his wife Kate, and Tom welling, Piper Perabo, Hilary Duff, Alyson Stoner, etc.return as the dozen.

In this second adventure of the Bakers, Tom decides to go with all the family of vacation for the last time (because some of his children are growing up and they are becoming independent). They go to the Winnetka Lake, where they went previously often on vacation. There, they meet with Jimmy Murtaugh, an old rival of Tom, and with his family of eight children. There, the family Baker will have to compete with the Murtaughs, who seem the perfect family.

The new actors of this film are Eugene Levy as Jimmy Murtaugh, Carmen Electra as his wife Sarina and Jaime King as Jimmy's eldest daughter. This film is not absolutely a waste of money or time. You will not lament it.

I didn't hope this film so silly
27 June 2006
I doubt that this new version of clumsy inspector Closeau is better than Peter Sellers' Pink Panthers. I didn't hoped this film so idiot, absurd and boring. It is not crap, but if you hope to see revived Peter Sellers as Closeau, don't go to see this film. Because you are not going to see Peter Sellers' Closeau; you are going to see Steve Martin's, because this one does not make the interpretation of Sellers' Closeau, he makes the interpretation of own Martin's Closeau.

After the murder of a famous football coach and the robbery of a very valuable diamond called the Pink Panther, the police captain Dreyfus contracts clumsy French inspector Closeau to investigates the case. He will be helped by a man called Ponton. The actors of this new version of the Pink Panther are Steve Martin as Jacques Closeau, Jean Reno as Ponton, Kevin Kline as Dreyfus and Beyoncé Knowles as Xania, one of the suspects.

The best of this film is wonderful and great Beyonce, who makes this film "good". In summary, this film can like everyone depending on each person, children surely will like, not the adults, I think.

The Omen (1976)

A scary dark classic that I'll never forget
25 June 2006
I will never forget this film. I will never forget how Mrs. Baylock pushes Katherine Thorn through the window. I will never forget the photographer's horrifying death, and I will never forget Damien Thorn's malevolent face. This film is really scary, dark, sinister and, of course, unforgettable. All the actors are brilliant. Gregory Peck and Lee Remick as Robert and Katherine Thorn.Harvey Stephens as the profligate Damien and Billie Whitelaw as evil Mrs. Baylock.

Robert Thorn is going to visit her wife Katherine to the hospital, because she's giving birth. But the baby is born dead. Katherine doesn't knows it, so a priest proposes Robert to change the baby who was born at the same time and whose mother died in the childbirth; Thorn accepts and, five years later, the boy, Damien, begins to behave strangely and soon his parents discover that he is the Antichrist.

This is sincerely a wonderful and unforgettable film that will never get me bored. A classic.

A good remake of a wonderful classic
25 June 2006
This new Omen is a quite good, entertaining and very well made remake. There are several scenes that don't appear in the original, but are also good, like the first scene in which some priests are in the Vatican speaking about the End of the World. That was an excellent scene, I loved it. This new version is not as good as Richard Donner's, but it follows its tradition and it fulfills all the requirements of the original one.

Robert Thorn is an American ambassador who works in London, where his wife, Katherine, has given birth, but the boy born died. Katherine didn't find out, so a priest proposes Robert to change the baby by another who has born at he the same moment and whose mother has died in the childbirth. Thorn accepts. Five years later, Damien, the boy, begins to behave of strange way and soon Robert and Katherine realize that his son is the Antichrist.

The cast is great, with excellent Liev Schreiber as Robert Thorn and Julia Stiles as Katherine.Damien's babysitter, Mrs. Baylock, is performed this time by Mia Farrow, who is not as scary as the original Baylock, but she continues being a really memorable babysitter. Good remake, no doubt. Go to watch it, if you liked the original Omen. You're not going to lament.

I thought it was going to be awful
24 June 2006
I must admit that this film is not very very good. And it isn't very scary. Even so, I think it is entertaining and interesting. I doubt that it is better than the original (that I haven't seen yet), but this new version is well for spending a short while.

Jill Johnson is a punished teenager who must go to a house on a hill in which she must take care of children for a night while their parents are outside. The girl becomes bored, and while she does what she wants in the house, she begins continuously receiving calls from a mysterious man. But she doesn't know that those received calls come from inside the house.

The film has bad critics, but I consider it acceptable. It has much intrigues and there are many scares. What I liked a lot of this film was its protagonist, Camilla Belle. I enjoyed a lot with her, and she is a good actress. And, if you haven't seen the original, see that one first than this.

Ultraviolet (2006)

Pathetic, totally pathetic
22 June 2006
"Ultraviolet" is an absurd, pathetic, horrible and bad film. It's really one of the worst films I've seen in my life. The argument is pathetic, the actors are horrible (except Milla Jovovich) and the assembly and the writing are too idiot. Only the acceptable thing of this film is the beautiful actress Milla Jovovich. This film tries to be a mixture between "The Matrix", "Kill Bill" and "Underworld".But it can't to be like these films. Too many martial arts and too many actors doing the idiot make this film a rubbish.

Violet is a woman who has become a more intelligent being, fast and strong mutant than humans. She hates the humans, reason why she decides to annihilate them and to take revenge of who created her. In her fight, she founds a human boy, Six, that is able to maintain to the mutants like Violet alive.

After all, this is a really boring film that has too much action and can becomes eternal. Please, don't go to watch this rubbish, you WILL hate it. If you hope to see a film as "Kill Bill" or "The Matrix", don't watch this one.

This time Cinderella doesn't lose her shoe, she loses her mobile phone
22 June 2006
"A Cinderella Story" turns out to be an entertainment, attractive and funny revision of the famous fairy tale. This modern adaptation is carried out by the young Hilary Duff, who is normally acting in these types of roles for teen comedies. The truth: she does not do a good job, because in fact I prefer to see her singing that acting. The rest of the distribution completes Jennifer Coolidge, Chad Michael Murray and Regina King.

This film tells the history of Sam, an teenager who every day is exploited by his evil stepmother Fiona and his two twin daughters. But soon everything changes when she meets in a chat her prince, who is the most popular boy in the institute, Austin Ames.

"A Cinderella Story" is good, funny and a perfect romantic comedy, but simultaneously it's predictable, all the story you know very well. This film is perfect for teenagers, but adults won't like.

Fantastic Four (I) (2005)

Not very exciting, but entertaining
15 June 2006
"Fantastic Four" is an entertaining and perfect film for teenagers and children. It is a good adaptation of the famous comics. But, obviously, this film is not as good as the comics. The film is not bad, is good for having a good while, but if we compare with other adaptations of others comics ("Spiderman", "Batman", "Sin City") this obviously is not the best one.

This film tells us how a group of scientists runs accidentally into a cloud of energy in a space trip, which turn them superheroes. Then, they decide to save the city of all evil with their superpowers.

As far as the fight scenes, it is the most disappointing subject of the film. They don't fight a lot, they only do it in the final scenes. In other films of superheroes like "Spiderman" the heroes fight a lot against their villains. But the four fantastic spend the majority of their time doing mathematics and solving equations, not fighting against doctor Von Doom. But other things in the film are not bad. If you want to have a good time and don't get bored, you should rent this film.

I just love blonde girls!
14 June 2006
Sincerely, since I saw this film, I love blonde girls. I think that it's because of the wonderful Reese Witherspoon, of which I fell in love when I saw in this film. It is not strange that Reese became a star thanks to "Legally blonde". This film is funny, charming, interesting and entertaining.

Reese Witherspoon is the protagonist here as Elle Woods, a young and popular blonde in her sisterhood, who decides to go to study to Harvard to impress her boyfriend, who has just left her, and who also studies there. But Elle didn't hope that her ex-boyfriend has begun dating with another girl, a prim and serious student. Even so, Elle decides to dedicate to study to become a good lawyer someday.

The rest of the cast completes Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Jennifer Coolidge, Matthew Davies, Victor Garber and Ali Larter. This is not a masterpiece, but it's a film that makes you laugh and that does not disappoint you.

The best thing of this fantastic film was the wonderful performance by Reese Witherspoon, a really great actress that has become one my favourite actresses.

Wonderful musical
13 June 2006
This it is sincerely the best musical I've ever seen.It is actually my favorite musical movie.

It tells the history of Roxie Hart, an ingenuous and charming young woman who kills her lover and is taken to prison, where she knows in person the woman she admires: Velma Kelly, an ordinary and unfriendly singer of a night club. Roxie will try to become a star as then Velma at any cost, and she contracts the best lawyer in Chicago: Billy Flyn.

The songs of the film are really wonderful, and the assembly, the clothes and all the others things are brilliant. The performances of the actors are really good. Richard Gere does one of his better roles, Renée Zellweger is charming and Catherine Zeta-Jones is the best one of all. She moves and sings in a spectacular way.

The script of the film is also very good. The director, Rob Marshall, has done his best work. I really fell in love with this film, that I consider it an unforgettable, beautiful masterpiece.

Surprisingly cool!
13 June 2006
"Into the Blue" is a good, surprising, entertaining cool film. I think that it is very underrated. It surprised much to me that action and that entertainment that the film has. Sincerely, it is surprising.

Its protagonists, Paul Walker and Jessica Alba, are spectacular, specially Alba. She is great with that glamour that always gives off.

The film mixes action, thriller, comedy, etc., and that makes the film very good. The assembly of the film is great. And its soundtrack is also fresh and good. Its script is also brilliant, very funny and good.

I think honestly this film is very under rated. In summary, see "Into the Blue".You will not lament it. You will like to see a film like this one.

"The Fog" is not as good as John Carpenter's, but still good!
13 June 2006
I must say that this film is not like John Carpenter's, but is good in its way. I know it has had very bad critics, but I do not agree.

It has an interesting cast, with Tom Welling and Maggie Grace.Tom Welling has made a mistake when he spent the majority of his time contemplating how the fog causes damage and soon he recovers the speech to say something as "We must go".

Some scenes are also a bit pathetic, like the one when Nick Castle's cousin is killed by a knife nailed in his eye.Or another one when a ghost is killing some people throwing them away.

Even so, the film was not as bad as the reviews say. It's very entertaining, interesting and makes good fun. The new Fog does is not very scary or frightening, but I was satisfied and I liked it. See it if you want to spend a good short while, that you will not waste.
