Call the Midwife (2012)
Wonderful show with so much to offer
Wonderful stories, and acting showing us history and more. Laugh, cry and learn with all of the characters from the east end and surrounds across several decades.
The Dig (2021)
Slow but gorgeous - Highly Recommend
It's not a fast paced action film, it's a beautifully slow, gorgeous film that covers a real-life story. For anyone who likes history, or archaeology, this is absolutely fascinating. It's so nice to see films like this these days when most are action or thriller.
Feminists: What Were They Thinking? (2018)
Fantastic production and discussion about the issues women continue to struggle against
This is a fantastic documentary and made me appreciate these amazing women so much more. I feel ashamed to have really only understood feminism in my 30s. It's too late. We all need to embrace feminist theories earlier. We need to teach our kids. We need to teach our kids about intersectionality. As a mid 30s woman in an industrialised country who has had almost every advantage, I still struggle with being a woman. If I were to add any other aspect such as skin colour, disability, lower income bracket, I would have struggled more. I'm lucky for sure, but I recognise that. Most don't. I do however see that we all need to work together to ensure equality. And maybe it's more about equity anyway.
Miss Representation (2011)
Thought provoking and well summarised but production quality varied
The overall aim of this documentary is well received. It's clear what the subject is and it makes its points clearly. But the editing and production was a little confusing at times, and I found the narration of the producer to be at times not really related to the context. I understand the role of bringing it back to a newly born child. I also felt there could have been a greater emphasis on what society should do, not just on women lifting women up. As a mother of boys, I felt that part was missing. Overall though, really good work
This Is Us (2016)
An incredible story
I have never written a review before for a TV show. This show is so incredible. The story and it's messages are poignant and powerful. The way it is shot and put together is beautiful and clever and amazing. I highly recommend it to anyone
