An Action Hero (2022)
Better than other Bollywood stereotype
"An Action Hero" stands out in Bollywood's action genre by skillfully avoiding common pitfalls. Director Anirudh Iyer sets a brisk pace, delivering punches and punchlines in tandem, keeping viewers engaged. The film cleverly critiques media sensationalism and societal flaws without being self-congratulatory.
Ayushmann Khurrana impresses in a departure from his usual roles, effortlessly portraying a multifaceted character. Jaideep Ahlawat shines consistently. However, the film loses some momentum in the second half, relying heavily on its leads until a climactic resolution.
Lacking melodrama, it presents morally ambiguous characters, challenging conventional audience connections. Despite a slight dip in engagement, the movie remains a bold and essential watch, breaking barriers in its approach to storytelling.
Oppenheimer (2023)
Disappointed
A Failed attempts to profound exploration of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the man behind the atomic bomb. However, it stumbles into tedium and self-indulgence, leaving audiences stranded in endless dialogue and lacking engaging storytelling.
The film revels in its own seriousness, with a glacial pace and heavy dialogue on weighty topics. Unfortunately, the execution is lacking. The dialogue feels unnatural, missing the flow that brings characters to life.
Nolan's choice of a fragmented, non-linear narrative alienates the audience rather than allowing a connection with Oppenheimer's journey. The constant time shifts make it hard to follow and emotionally invest in the characters.
Clocking in at over three hours, Oppenheimer feels like an interminable slog due to its lack of action and visual stimulation. Endless talking heads make it unbearable.
Most notably, the film lacks self-awareness. Nolan appears oblivious to its flaws, lingering on shots and indulging in lengthy monologues, expecting captivation that never arrives.
Expectations of an action-packed blockbuster intensify the disappointment. Instead, audiences get a meandering, self-indulgent exploration of the human psyche.
Oppenheimer (2023) fails with its convoluted narrative, stilted dialogue, and slow pace. Its self-indulgent nature and lack of self-awareness leave audiences profoundly disappointed, despite its attempt at exploring complex themes.
