Walk the Line (2005)
10/10
the best movie I've seen in a while.
5 March 2006
Walk the Line covers the story of the late great Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. Johnny Cash is one of the greatest musicians in music history and this is a well done tribute to his work. Joquin Pheonix is Johnny Cash and is a very good one at that. Pheonix had learned how to play guitar for the role and he also supplies the very convincing singing voice for Cash. Reese Witherspoon is June Carter in an award worthy performance.Witherspoon provides the singing voice for June carter as well. This movie is one of the best movies i have seen in a long time. It has great music, great story, great editing, great directing and great performances from everyone in the movie. The movie shows how cash toured with June Carter, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presly. The movie basically covers the story of Johnny and June and how they came to be and the Folsom Prison album. This movie needs to be seen by anyone who likes Cash and music in general. 10 out of 10

Great Movie
25 February 2006
I got this movie from someone else. There would be no way that "I" would buy Gone with the Wind. There was no way that I was going to watch literally four hours of a full blown romance movie. But when I decided to try it out I was very surprised that I was eager to pop in the second part. I was surprised that I was engulfed in a romance story but then I though its not like that at all. This movie is commonly referred to as romance and that is how I viewed it when I started it but I quickly realized that its not a romance movie its a war story. I'm not saying that it is not a romance movie. There is a fair share of romance in the movie but thats not the whole movie. Vivian Leigh is great as Scarlett O'Hara and Clark Gable is great as Rhett Butler. The movie takes place during the civil war and there are a lot of exciting parts. The whole movie is a triumph and it gets a lot of crap from the younger generation. Everyone should at least give this movie a try. I went in thinking that I was going to hate it but came out surprisingly satisfied. 10 out of 10

Weird Al takes his hilarious humor to the big screen
25 February 2006
This movie stars Weird Al Yankovic as George Newman a person who can't keep a steady job because his wacky imagination keeps getting him fired. When his uncle wins a deserted UHF channel station in a poker game he gives control over to George. George has to compete with a rival station run by R J Flecther played by Kevin McCarthy. When the station janitor Stanley Spadowski played by Michael Richards (Kramer of Seinfeld) get on camera it turns out to be a success along with whole bunch of other interesting shows such as: Bowling for Burgers, Strip Solitaire, Mud Wrestling with Celebrities, Wheel of Fish, Conan the Librearian and Rauls Wild Kingdom. When George's uncle loses a lot of money on a horse race he needs money to pay his gambling debts. RJ Fletcher decides to buy the land that the station is on and shut it down. Now George has to get the money to his uncle before RJ Flether shuts down the station by running a pledgeathon. This movie is very funny. It is even funnier if you buy the DVD and listen to the commentary done by director jay Levey and weird Al himself. The movie spoofs many films such as Indiana Jones, The treasure of sierra madre and Gone with the Wind. The movie also stars Victoria Jackson, David Bowe, Fran Dresher and Billy Barty. Good Movie!

Dave (1993)
8/10
Reitmans best since Ghostbusters
25 February 2006
This is one of Kevin Klines funniest roles playing the ordinary Joe Dave Kovic who has the appearance that resembles the president. When the president suffers from a severe stroke the government wants Dave to fill in for the president while he is out. When Dave takes on the role of the president and and has to take on the life that the president left behind for him like the first lady played by Sigourney Weaver who hated him. Dave needs to take on his relationship with the first lady, his advisor's played by Frank Langella and Kevin Dunn (the only people who know who Dave really is) ,and the country. Filled with a bunch of humor. A light hearted comedy. This movie was directed by Ivan Reitman whose works include the Ghostusters movies and Kindergarten Cop. Reitman directs a hilarious comedy the best since Ghostbusters. In a funny bit Dave singing the title song from the musical Oklahoma while riding his bike home.

the king of late night
24 February 2006
most people would agree Conan O'Brien is the king of late night television. His show now is almost thirteen years old. They made this special into a primetime special so i watched it then. Conan O'Brien has the funniest sketches. Whether it is In the year 2000, the Walker Texas ranger lever,if they mated or celebrity survey they are all so funny. I have never gotten through an episode of Conan with out laughing. He is essential to my night, It's like my mother tucking me in. It is that same type of comfort that I get when I watch Conan. I love everyone on this show: Max Weinburg and the max Weinberg seven and announcer Joel Goddard. They even have there own late night characters such as Frankenstein and the FedEx pope and the newly acquired evil puppy.(not triumph)This show is worth staying up for.

Mrs. Hogwallop up and R-U-N-N-O-F-T.
24 February 2006
Fargo. No. O Brother Where Art thou. Yes. O Brother Where art thou is the Coen Brothers best picture. This movie is filled with great comedy and great music. The movie is based on Homer's The Odyssey. I'd personally would rather watch this adaptation of the book than read the book itself. The movie stars as George Clooney stars as Ulysses Everett McGill, John Tuturro stars as Pete and Tim Blake Nelson as dim witted Delmar O'Donnell. All of them play escaped convicts looking for the treasure that Everett had buried before going to jail. So when they bust out out of jail it is a whole new adventure waiting for them. When they record a song to get some cash they end up recording a hit song. Everyone is looking for these new found musicians but they are trying to hide from the law. This whole movie is filled with hilarious one liners from Clooney. The move also stars Holly Hunter, Charles Durning and John Goodman as a greedy bible salesman. This movie is a success in in every aspect and it is the Coen brothers greatest film.

Rear Window (1954)
10/10
Hitchcocks Best, Cinemas Best
22 February 2006
This is the greatest movie of all time. I believe that Jimmy Stewart is one of the greatest actors ever and that Grace Kelly is one of the best actresses of the era. Rear Window takes place in a small apartment complex in the village. Jimmy Stewart plays famous photographer L. B. "Jeff" Jefferies who after an accident is confined to a wheelchair with a broken leg. He has nothing to do but stare out of the window and look at the neighbors. He plays this role very well. When Jeff thinks he has witnessed a murder from the apartment across the way he gets help from his high society girl friend Lisa played by Grace Kelly and his comical nurse Stella played by Thelma Ritter and his detective friend Lt. Doyle played by Wendell Corey. When you carefully watch the movie you can see that there is a great amount of humor throughout the whole film as well as a whole crap-load of suspense. Thelma Ritter is the more obvious comic relief of the film with funny one liners: " When two people love each other, they come together - WHAM - like two taxis on Broadway. " One thing that this movie tackles is the subject of voyeurism the act of watching someone without there knowledge and not for sexual gratification. This is what most movies are anyway, we are in a way spying on the people in the movie and become interested in their lives. This movie just focuses on it specifically. One thing that it is interesting is how the camera never leaves Jeff's apartment. We can see conversations between the neighbors but we can not hear what they are saying so we have to figure out what is going on by their body language. The whole movie is a bunch of reaction shots from Stewart. Jeff sees something, then we see him react to it. Another thing in this movie is the relation ship between Jeff and Lisa "Jeff: She wants me to marry her. Stella: That's normal. Jeff: I don't want to. Stella: That's abnormal." Jeff feels that her lifestyle would not be the kind that she would want to be apart of seeing that he travels all over the world to photograph things like war and other things of that nature" Raymond Burr stars as the suspected murderer Lars Thorwald. This movie is the greatest movie and I can't do it justice by telling you about it like this. This one just needs to be seen by everybody. 11 out of 10

Shanghai Noon (2000)

perfect blend of action and comedy, the funniest western ever
22 February 2006
This movie is a perfect blend of action and comedy. This movie stars Jackie Chan as Chon Wang, one of the soldiers of the army of the forbidden city in China. When the princess leaves and goes to America it is up to Chon to bring her back. When he gets to Nevada, where most of the story takes place he meets Roy O'Bannon played by Owen Wilson u'll ever meet. He is a wanted outlaw and in an odd chain of events they become a duo. This is the funniest western, this movie surpasses Blazing Saddles by far. Blazing Saddles is funny but the one-liners that Owen Wilson drop are just so hilarious. "I don't know Karate but I do know crazy, and I will use it". Lucy Lui also stars as the Princess This movie is definitely worth seeing but you kinda wanna steer clear of the sequel "Shanghai Knights" It does not do the first film justice. I have never been able to complete the second one mainly because it is boring. But salutes to Shanghai Noon the funniest western to date. 9 out of 10

Paper Clips (2004)
8/10
very good movie
22 February 2006
I was flipping through the channels one day and I came across this very interesting documentary called Paper Clips. This movie take place in the small Tennessee town of whitfall. In an effort to teach the middle school students more about tolerance they come up with the paper clip project. They will collect roughly six million paper clips in order to signify the amount of loss of life that happened during the Holocaust. The news of there little project is spread all over the world with people sending paper clips from everywhere. They also had people who had survived the Holocaust to come and speak with the students and the rest of the town. There stories of the camps are horrible and terrifying. I was horrified to hear what some of them went through at the camps. It was interesting to see how people would send a certain amount of paper clips for the amount of family that they lost from the Holocaust. However, the amount of response the students received was overwhelming when they collect an amount of over twenty nine million paper clips from all around the world. They decide with the help of several others to build a memorial by the school and have it set up in a rail way car that was used to transport Jewish people to concentration camps. The impact that it takes on everybody's emotions is interesting to watch. This movie is very good and everyone should see it. 9 out of 10

The Office (2005–2013)
10/10
The funniest show on television
22 February 2006
This show originally aired in March of 2005. It only had six episodes. Fortunately for the newly acquired fans the DVD of all of the six episodes came out in August. This DVD is great. It has clear and perfect picture. As many as two commentary's for some episodes. As well as a whole bunch of Deleted scenes for each episode. Plus this is the funniest show on television. You can't get through a minute of any episode with out laughing. The show is done in a "mock"mentary format and the actors portray all of the roles so well. Steve Carrell plays the the worlds best boss (only to himself, to others the worst) of Dunder Mifflin paper company in Scranton, PA. Jenna Fisher plays Pam Beesly the receptionist. John Krasinski plays Jim Halpert a marketer who has a secret crush on Pam. Rainn Wilson plays Dwight Schrute the eccentric marketer of the office. B.J. Novak plays Ryan Howard, a temp. With others playing the rest of the office. It, thankfully, returned for a second season and acquired a whole new bunch of fans. Steve Carrell recently won a Golden Globe for best comedy actor in a series. It was well deserved and it one of the many awards the office will win in the future. This DVD covers the first six episode: Pilot, Diversity Day, Health Care, The Alliance, Basketball and Hot Girl. 10 out of 10.

This was enjoyable
21 February 2006
Warning: Spoilers
The reason that I give it such a high score is because you have to see it along with the ride. The Ellens Energy Adventure is played numerous times daily at the Epcot center at Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida. The ride starts with a short movie hosted by comedienne Ellen DeGenerous with introduces the plot line. Funny cameos by Bill Nye The Science Guy, Jamie Lee Curtis, Alex Trebeck and Willard Scott make the movie more enjoyable plus the actual action sequences in between sections of the movie. like a section in which you are roaming around with dinosaurs. The ride is very entertaining. The audio animatronics are so well designed so well(like all of Disney) that I am at times wondering what surprises might be around the corner. There is a pretty well done audio animatronic of Ellen herself. This ride is funny and I understand that it was not like that before. No humor probably just like a documentary. This ride is for the better and as lot more fun. Ellen Degenerous has such good delivery and it shows in this funny Disney ride.

Gene Wilders triumph
21 February 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Gene Wilder will be known as two people Willy Wonka and Dr. Fredrick Fronkonsteen. Marty Feldman will be known as Igor and Teri Garr will always be known as Inga. This is probably Mel Brooks' best picture. Blazing Saddles is nothing compared to this comedy farce. A lot of the credit goes to Gene Wilder who wrote a majority of the script. This is one of Mel Brook' only pictures in which he does not appear himself. Mel Brooks is great comedy director and this is proof of it. He has created the most quotable movie ever. This movie stares Gene Wilder, Marty Feldman, Kenneth Mars, Cloris Leachman, Peter Boyle, Gene Hackman Teri Garr and the late great Madiline Kahn. This is probably one of my favorite movies of all time. The greatest moment in film/comedy history is the classic Puttin on the Ritz scene. Can you believe that Mel Brooks protested this scene. The DVD has an funny commentary track by Mel Brooks an interesting documentary and some funny deleted scenes. The movie is great the actors are great the DVD is great the whole thing is great. This movie is funny from beginning to end. 10 out of 10

I'm in the mood for McDonalds
20 February 2006
I would give this movie a seven out of ten. The movie certainly gets the point across as Morgan Spurlock decides to uncover the health hazards of eating fast food frequently and goes on a thirty day McDonalds only diet. He can only order things off of the McDonalds menu and if he is asked to supersize he must. The movie is horrifying as you watch this pretty healthy guy turn into a very sick and unhealthy person. He also touches on the effects of advertising to children. In a very interesting part he shows children pictures of various people from George Washington to Ronald McDonald and all of the children recognized Ronald McDOnald. He also stopped a family in Washington D.C. and asked them to recite the pledge of allegiance witch oddly enough they struggled through but when asked if they could recite the big mac "chant" they got through it. In another part they showed a guy who they called the big mac guy who ate a two or three big macs a day but was considerably healthy. It was certainly a good movie. Not the best. Definitely worth seeing. 7 out of 10

funny movie
20 February 2006
I heard about his movie through Brian Herzlinger on Jay Leno who was doing a segment as a correspondent for The Tonight Show. i enjoyed the segment and they talked about his movie briefly. So I went to the Blockbuster and picked it up. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. You get sucked into this guys life as he tries to make his dream, a date with Drew Barrymore, a reality. He does it with the help of his two buddies and a circuit city camera that they are "renting" for thirty days. This guy an ordinary joe does so much and goes through so much crap during the duration of the film. You get sucked into his ideas and you feel bad when they don't work out and you feel great when they help him move closer towards his goal. This is a great movie. It is in documentary format and is done very well. 10 out of 10. I loved this movie

one of the Coens best
18 February 2006
Warning: Spoilers
this movie is one of the most overlooked movie from the Coen brothers. No one I know has ever heard of it. This movie is great. The movie stars Tim Robbins as a small town guy who just moved to the city to make it big in business. The whole plot thing is the chairman of Hudsucker Industries steps down (literally) the greedy executives want the stock of the company but in order to do that they will have to hire a "joe schmo" to be president so that stocks are low enough that nobody will want to buy the stock and the bad guys can take over. Norville has big ideas and when placed as president (in the most odd way) decides to pursue them when the stocks begin to plummet. The invention of the hula hoop makes Hudsucker the biggest thing. Light hearted comedy that also stars Paul Newman as Sydney J. Mussburger, Jennifer Jason Leigh as Amy Archer. Also stars John Mahoney and Anna Nicole Smith(small cameo no need to worry) Good Movie. 10 out of 10.

The best movie
17 February 2006
This movie is the best Leslie Nielsen movie. I am a big Leslie Nielsen fan and I am proud to say that it is my favorite movie. Leslie Nielsen stars as Lieutentent Frank Drebin. The clumsy head of Police Squad a special division of the LA Police Force. When the someone attempts to assassinate the queen of england at a dodgers game, its up to Drebin and his buddy cop Ed Hocken played by George Kennedy to find the culprit. In the process, Drebin meets and falls for Jane played by Pricilla Presly. Some spoofs of some classic movies but mainly its Leslie Nielsens deadpan performance that makes the movie as good as it is. The movie was based on an unsuccessful television series called Police Squad which starred Nielsen as well. Leslie Nielsen becomes the funniest man alive when put in the directing style of David Zucker. Although Airplane is a great Zucker movie, this movie is the best. The movie also spawned two sequels: The Naked Gun 2 1/2 The Smell of Fear and Naked Gun 33 1/3 The Final Insult. Leslie Nielsen is the spoofmaster king and he is such a joy to watch. This movie is his triumph. If you liked this movie you want to definitely see the sequels, Wrongfully Accused, Spy Hard, Scary Movie 3( not the first two crappy ones) and the upcoming Scary Movie 4. This movie also stars O.J. Simpson (pre-trial) and Ricardo Montolbaun. See this movie and laugh your butt off.

Date Movie (2006)

This movie was pretty good
17 February 2006
This movie was pretty funny. Not the best spoof movie out there but certainly funny. It takes aim at almost every date movie you can think of. The movie s very funny. With spoofs of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, My Best Friends Wedding, Hitch, The Wedding Planner, Napoleon Dynamite, Mr. And Mrs. Smith, The BAchelor, When HArry met Sally, Meet the parents, meet the fockers,Bridget Jones Diary. King Kong Lord of the rings and a lot more. Fred Willard is funny as the father of the groom. Definitely worth seeing. From the guys who did Scary Movie and Spy Hard. Good Movie. A lot of laughs I would give it a seven out of ten. Nothing is sacred in this pretty funny flick.
