Babylon 5 (1993)
An Epic Series...
I watched Babylon 5 sporadically when it was on TNT but had missed most of the first season and caught it every now and again there after. I didn't realize what I had missed. This is one of the best if not the best sci fi series ever. As much of a Star Trek fan that I am, this is a better series. The graphics are a little dated, and the video quality on Amazon was at times a little sketchy but the writing is absolutely incredible and mirrors a lot of what is going on in the political scene of world politics today.
My favorite character was and is Delenn. She is smart, kind hearted, logical, compassionate, brave and fierce. She can be very supportive and loving, but if you threaten those she cares about, God help you. Here appearance to rescue Babylon 5 in Severed Dreams is one of the all time great SciFi scenes. The acting by Mira Furlan is perfect as it is all in the eyes and voice. Calm, logical, pissed and deadly. She is a total badass in this scene. Afterwards when Sheridan says a simple Thank You is not enough, dude, he should have gotten on his knees, kissed her butt and asked her to marry him. She is a ride or die kinda girl. Susan Ivanova is no slouch herself and her Death Incarnate speech is a true classic.
The characters have dimension to them and you learn to love them for their faults as well as their good points. I could go on forever, but in closing, if you haven't watched this show, you are missing out on one of the great treasures of Television. The first season is kinda so-so, but after that, hang onto your hats and enjoy the ride.
Crying Freeman (1995)
Not too bad
I loved the Crying Freeman Anime and this live version is better than I anticipated. Mark Dacasco is believable as Freeman and there is good chemistry between him and Julie Condra. The movie could have been better had they used subtitles during the Japanese and Chinese dialogue as this left holes as to what was going on. Overall a decent B movie.
