It's its Originality that grabbed me from the start, and how it made me pulling for those representing the kinda government, a Totalitarian one, I despise. And they do this with a ruthlessness and near unflinching fear or regard against those they have to battle. The Ends always Justified the Means. Always! Yet that starts to change as the stories come and go. Even Elizabeth bends a bit on occasion, but not too much. She "Making the World a Better Place." Yep. Philip shows his vulnerabilities and sorta arguments with this kinda of Motto. The peripheral character, so many of them, are just as compelling as the two protagonists, especially Stan and Martha (she didn't deserve any of this, a conclusion Philip gets eventually. Only THE WIRE and BREAKING BAD had its claws into me like THE AMERICANS. Fry me Over-Easy, if you can, but I'm certain my request will be denied.

Reflections of Murder
(1974 TV Movie)
To Be Supernatural Or Not

Far, far better than DIABOLIQUE remake (1997). Tuesday and Joanne worked well together, and kept their ultimatums hidden, sort of. Cleverly nuanced with sharp and intelligent plot movement. And Sammy got what he deserved, or did he? The special effects near the end reveal how to do it without state-of-the-art special effect machinery. Well, it is television. And the Ending, The Real Ending, one that had been criticized some in its day, is beaut. Had this flick as a strong 8, but made it a 9, cuz of that very provocative, and highly shaded piano playing upstairs. Forgot what piece it was, though. Listen closely.
Night Gallery
(1969–1973)
TWI-BETTER THE TWILIGHT ZONE

I gave it a ten, knowing it didn't deserve such a rating. Un-scarey-from-when-a-kid is valid, but then again so are some of the greatest classics of Horror Movies (Karloff's Frankie, Bella's Drac, and many others). What made the Night Gallery so good was some of the stories written by Giants of Classic Horror LITERATURE (Lovecraft, Algernon Blackwell, and of course Edgar, and others). More than anything so horridly refreshing about NG in comparison to TZ, is the total lack of moralizing the tale that NG strove. And the raven on top this toppling tombstone were the very cleverly done comic pieces. It weren't HBO's TALES FROM THE CRYPT, but NG held it's own horrific grasping claws. I still Love it.

WHICH WAY?

Need at least 150 Characters? I'll be unnecessarily wordy, if that's what it takes, but quite simply I'll attempt to round up this wrenching movie in these few words: "Please Give Back A Little Piece Of My Gut!" Thank You.
