Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
Needed more time in the oven
This movie had a lot of potential & most scenes feel like they were almost there but missed that iconic Guardians Of The Galaxy spice.
I can't help but wonder why they didnt start the movie with the grandpas side of events; look from his perspective & then build upon that with slowly getting Peter Quill to come back to visit. Same ending; but actually validate getting there.
But then scene after scene, I cant help but wonder why they didn't tap into the story they had made, more. Rocket having had lost some comrades in his past; that was fine. Even the heaven scene aint bad but; why kill off the other 2 comrades so insignificantly? Why half write their characters? Why does the creator have to be evil? His intentions weren't that bad per say, even if the execution was terrible. So why not make him a grey area & pair Rocket's coming to terms with his creator involving their past, with Peter's coming to terms with his grandpa? Why not extend that story, show the grandpas potential music pairing with his daughter & have it be him that gives Volume 3 as a long lost connection to Peter's mom?
So much potential wasted.
Extrapolations (2023)
Delusional Corporate Propaganda
Apple decided they wanted to milk the climate crisis & double up by advertising nonsense that could boost their stocks temporarily. Only counting the first half of the first episode; here's a list of obviously bogus claims that this crap makes:
-Patents will still be honored when most countries are in states of extreme survival crisis
-Countries being boiled alive would not start wars to fight for what few resources existed
-In these unsurvivable states, people would still believe in religion nonsense to save them
-Homelessness, a problem of the current west; would still be a problem people would be protesting about instead of just shooting things for
-France would be a power in the world worth thinking about (lol)
The list goes on, but basically this show is a fever dream by a drug addict with too much funding that basically shows something that wouldn't & won't happen. Shoulda been taken care of considering the topics it pretends to address.
Misanthrope (2023)
Poorly written, badly directed.
The entire script was set out as a mystery pretending to understand serial killers while missing everything that psychologically makes one. The cast over acted when unnecessary & underacted when they needed to do more; why? Because the characters were written unrealistically; none of the talent could even imagine being so inept & unrelatable. Even the serial killers can get along well with people; instead they went for making various characters unlikable as a cheap attempt to make mystery, all the while failing to make anything even remotely interesting.
Want properly done cinema with the same themes?
Mindhunter
The Puppet Master
The Tinder Swindler
Nerve
The Dropout
etc etc
Just disappointing.
A Thousand and One (2023)
I wish this one was good
Too many people like this get ignored, too many stories needing to be told; but instead we get this. From bad acting to protagonising a sociopath. This movie is a hard miss from everything it should have been. Overrated.
To those who wanna say that this is the story you hear so it's the one that gets told; just because some psychopath yells their story, don't mean their story is the one to be told; it don't mean stop looking, let alone ignore the quiet ones.
The movie fails to deliver on its potential, and the acting falls flat. The main character is a sociopath, and the film seems to glorify their behavior rather than condemn it. It's disappointing that this movie received such high praise when there are so many important stories that need to be told. It's a reminder that just because a story is loud and attention-grabbing, it doesn't mean it's the most important or worthy of being told. We need to make sure we're listening to and amplifying the voices of those who are often overlooked or ignored.
Turning Red (2022)
A insult to everything that came before
Political nonsense infused garbage with extreme overkill funding. Pixar has lost it.
Ya lets make a movie about Canadian.. I mean Chinese because they funded this garbage. Lets intentionally make modern stereotypes of young girls in the west as cringy as possible to support out Chinese propaganda of superiority. Then lets bribe the media to pretend that this is some inspirational positive feminist therapy when it just fascism in disguise.
Why bother making movies anymore Pixar?
The Call of the Wild (2020)
No Spoilers, Its plain bad
They had alot of potential but lost sooo much emotion, so many scenes could have been done alot better. It was a cringe fest; from "CGI Dog" not coming close to how any normal dog would act, to shallow characters plaguing the entire story. Lazy writing & not even sticking to the original story. This movie was just plain bad. Also, this is a dog but makes a house shake like it's 10000+ pounds.
It's a shame to all the actors, who many of which actually did ok & they got John Freaking Powell to do music; but you can hardly hear it. He clearly didn't have much to work with & his pieces got drowned out by unrealistic sound effects.
Leave No Trace (2018)
