The A-Team (2010)
go see it
all action, every second.
liam neeson handles the role of hannibal with believability. Bradley cooper, though i dislike him in many of his roles, pulls off faceman with ease. rampage jackson plays B.A. just as well as mr.t. i will go far as saying that he is a better actor than mr. t ever was. SHARLTO COPLEY steals this movie from his co-stars. every moment he is on screen is money. there is no other actor who could have played this part better than copley.
action is served up in heaps and piles. comedy is well placed and frequent. most of the action, though sometimes outrageous, is perfectly acceptable while seated in the theatre. the only major flaw is 1-2 questionable cgi sequences. both too over the top and of poor quality. a minor flaw would be a weak complicated story. though the story only serves as a means to an end with the action.
go see it.
LA Ink (2007)
it once showed art and tattoos.....
la ink started its life as a show about tattoos. several artists working with some intertwined drama made for an entertaining and watchable show.
later episodes have showcased what appears to be heavily scripted pseudo-drama. artists have left the show and people who appear to be actors have been hired. cameras seem to be showing up in places at times to film events that they should have no prior knowledge of. also, interestingly, more tattoos of peoples pets are popping up on the show in later episodes. is this an attempt to capitalize on the 'awe-cute' factor?
as a fan of good tattoos, good artwork, and good shows, i'm finding this un-reality show more and more unwatchable.
Deal or No Deal (2005)
is it just me, or is every contestant a fool?
first time i saw the show... i was intrigued. wow! this is different, no trivia no stunts no nonsense! next time i watched it i talked to the screen, 'no, you idiot! take the deal!'. next couple of times cinched it. this show sucks.
it would appear that everyone who plays this game thinks that the object is to hang in there until their briefcase is the last one.
the object is to go home with the all the money you can. seems to me as soon as you appear on-stage you are a winner, you are going home with money. how much is up to you. when the offers get into the 75-100 thousand range you would be a fool not to take the money and run. they never do, they all hang in until the end. they are all fools, and i am finished with this show.
Battlestar Galactica (2004)
they have a plan? great episodes, bad overall plot
something of a phenomenon here. i have enjoyed almost all of the episodes in the series thus far. each in and of itself is usually good. some, like '33' were very good (good way to start off showing the relentlessness of the machines.). problem is i can't seem to get into the overall plot of the show. the Cylon's' focus went from killing all humans, to breeding with the humans, and now both. some of the story lines were all but pointless, like most of the occupied caprica scenes. really, just how far ahead could the Cylon's have planned for baltar to continually be hounded by the apparition that is 'six'. also, if they planned for galactica and the humans to escape for later breeding experiments then why do the Cylon's continually try to kill the survivors off? the statement "they have a plan" does not describe the writers of the show.
that been said i faithfully tune in on fridays to see the acting, some interesting subplots, and even some of the effects. the gritty realism and the desperate hopelessness that the show conveys from the surviving colonists can almost be felt at every turn. it really feels like the whole world is lost!
if you could tidy up the overall plot a little this would be one of the best shows currently on the tube.
