It Chapter Two (2019)
Lost the magic from part 1
Like many other fans, I was excited for part 2 only to be very disappointed. It's like they tried to throw everything at us and it was too much. I could have used less shock value affects and more story line. It was all over the place, in constant motion. Nothing scary, nothing to draw you in like the 1st one. The only reason I gave it 5 stars was the kids. They were really the only redeeming factor for me. They had better acting skills and were more believable than the adults.
Don't get me started on the ending! I don't want to spoil it, but "it" was terrible!
A Simple Favor (2018)
If it was meant for teens then I could see it working.
Very predictable. They tried to be constantly funny which makes it not worthy of being a thriller or a drama. I could see teen girls liking it.
The Strain (2014)
Start out strong then fizzled
I like Del Torro's work so I was anticipating this show for some time. It started off strong, good concept, different take on things & I enjoyed maybe the first half of the season. The effects were good for TV. Then it became cheesy & super predictable. The acting from some of the cast was barely mediocre. The boy/son was hard to watch, he came off bratty & not a great actor (sorry, I know he's a kid) The ending, I won't spoil but was disappointing for a season finale. I highly doubt I will tune in for season 2 when there are so many other, better put together shows available like The Knick or Penny Dreadful. The best story line was about the old man when he was younger but that was it. Sorry, not a fan.
Epic Ink (2014)
Excellent are in a fun shop.
The artists in this shop are fantastically talented. I don't think any of the other shows come close talent wise. My only complaint would be that they don't show enough of the actual tattoo being done. They focus too much on the antics instead of the art. I watch all of the tattoo shows starting back with Miami Ink, to LA Ink, Best Ink, Ink Master etc & the artists here surpass them. The level of talent is amazing. It's a fun show, with a funny cast. If they could make it an hour & show more of the art that would be much better. If you are a fan of sci-fi or tattoos than this is for you. Even if you don't like tattoos it's a quick 30 minutes of great art.
Alaskan Bush People (2014)
Deceptive show, not honest about their lifestyle
I am very interested in this way of life, not to live it but I find it interesting. I am very disappointed that they are not being honest with us. They pretend that they do not have or need technology but they've had a website for years as well as a Youtube channel. They have a boat & I don't believe they lived in a 1 room cabin, It might have been their hunting cabin but if you read the descriptions on their website they say things like "Birds bedroom is a typical teen girls room" & that Rain has lots of Barbies etc. How can she have a typical girls room in a cabin? I also find their accents to be forces as only some of the kids have them. If they were so isolated wouldn't they speak more like their parents? 2 of them Bear (real name Soloman) & Gabriel have a very put on accent like they are copying a movie. I don't doubt that they hunt their own food & live off the land but they do have a home & technology. The father has published books etc. The intro to the show makes it sound like they found this family living this way. Very deceptive.
300: Rise of an Empire (2014)
Eva Green saves it.
The story was no where near as strong as the first one. This was more like the show Spartacus for me lots of action not enough plot. Tons of action, beautifully filmed, wonderful effects. I like action, sex & blood does not bother me but I need a strong story. This was much weaker & without Eva Green it would have been a flop. She can deliver the strong powerful role that is usually left to the men. The scenery was eye catching & visually stimulating but the dialogue & plot left me feeling robbed. I'm sure another one is in the works & I hope they focus on story just as much as they focused on bodies, blood & fighting. I do like how they tied the two films together & if you didn't seen part one you are still OK. Thank you to Eva Green for a fantastic performance.
House of Cards (2013)
Brilliant!
From the writing to the acting, it's brilliant all around. Kevin Spacey is outstanding. You love to hate him & hate to love him. I usually do not care much for political shows but this is so much more. It's scandalous, conniving & fun all at the same time. The cast is impeccable. It started out a little slow for me, but then it became addicting. Season 2 is even better. The 1st episode in season 2 was phenomenal. It has twists & turns that keep you guessing what will they do next. Robin Wright plays her part perfectly. All around the show is superb. If you don't have Netflix, this is the biggest reason to get it.
Hemlock Grove (2013)
I was expecting more...
I wanted more out of the story & from the actors. I adore Stellan, Alexander & Gustaf Skarsgard, they are all fine actors. I had a problem with Bill Skarsgard & Landon Liboiron. Their acting was poor. You could hear Bill's accent which didn't match anyone else in the show. Dugray Scott & Famke Jansen were the only saving factors. Their performances were good. The story could have been so much better, it kind of left me confused. I felt like this was trying to be scary or edgy but wanted to keep the Twilight fan base. I'm not sure if another season will happen. If so I told my son who I watch it with, that I will give it 3 more episodes & if it doesn't get better, I'm out.
Flesh (1968)
Might not be for everyone, but for Warhol or Joe fan's it's perfect!
As a fan of Warhol/Morrisey/Factory Superstars, I enjoyed watching a movie that starred the people I've read about for years. It may not be for everyone. The story & acting is not the best. Joe Dallesandro comes off as so innocent & endearing that it's worth it to me. For any fan of the genre, Joe's or Warhol, this is a must see. There is a trilogy Flesh, Trash & Heat. In this movie, Joe plays a hustler trying to earn money for his demanding wife played by Geraldine Smith, which in real live Joe had an affair with, even though he was married at the time. Patti D'Arbanville makes a short appearance as well as Joe's real life brother Bob (who died a couple of years later). Take it for what it is, a quickly made art film starring very young "superstars" who did not think that this many years later people would still be viewing the film.
Roseanne (1988)
The most realistic TV show I've ever seen
I can watch the early seasons of this show over & over. This is the most realistic show to ever be on TV. Working class family, going through what many middle to lower class families go through. Juggling jobs, bills & kids all with a sense of humor. From the set, wardrobe to story line, everything was realistic. If you grew up in the 80's, your house might have been like theirs. I know mine was. They dealt with topics other shows wouldn't touch: teenage sex, gay relationships, divorce, aging parents etc. Other shows during that time were all wholesome families with mom's that stayed home & baked or were very attractive. The Conner's were a typical family with normal issues.
Girl Inside (2007)
Beautiful documentary
This is a wonderful documentary, not just about Madison's transition but for me more about the love of his family. Her Grandmother to me is the star of the movie. She is 81 & so caring, current & loving. Everyone should have a Grandma like her. Even though the basis for the documentary was following Madison's operation & life, I found myself so impressed with the love & support her family gives her. She is very lucky, not many people in her position get the support they need. The love Madison finds with her boyfriend is beautiful to watch. He loves her & I would love a follow up a few years from now to see how it played out & how Madison's life has changed.
Table for 12 (2009)
I miss this show!
This show might have been about multiples but is is not Jon & Kate. This family is wonderful. They are normal people who love each other dearly. The kids are each unique & fantastic. I wish they would bring it back. The husband is a big kid himself & the mother lets each child be themselves & has a very loving relationship with each one. One child has a disability but that does not stop them & they include her in everything. This family is full of love. The only thing it has in common with Jon & Kate is that they have multiples, but they have 2 more then Jon & Kate. The mother doesn't yell & boss everyone around but does things with kindness & firmness. It's a shame it was canceled.
Streetwise (1984)
most recent article I can find on Tiny and Mary Ellen Mark
I have followed (or tried to follow) Tiny through the years, she is up to 9 children now and is moving to North Carolina with her husband. He is the father of her last 4 kids. Her oldest son Daylon lives alone and is 19, her 2 oldest daughters live with a relative. Here is the link to http://seattletimes.nwsource.com
type in Mary Ellen Mark, the article is called: Focused on a life: Photographer uses camera as force for change
I heard that Rat is living on a farm or ranch, , some people say he died, does anyone have any current info?
Does anyone have a picture of Roberta, the victim of the Green River killer? I cannot remember her face.
