THE A TEAM ON STEROIDS AND EXCESS OBSCENITY
20 December 2023
Ordinarily I really like the military type of wild bunch stuff we saw in the A Team. The acting, the story line, the familiar plot was all good and well done. It is probably because I am getting old but I do not see the need for all this excess obscenity. It actually detracts from the really good stuff. If this stuff is necessary to sell tickets these days I guess it is just like a pie the face in the 1930's three stooges stuff. I think some will say that is the same old same old plot using familiar stereotypes like the Russians. This is "The A Team" on steroids with excess obscenity. Hope they plan a sequel. I would like to see less drunken orgy and a little more military history of the characters in the story line.

SUPERB IN EVERY WAY
16 April 2022
I am your only reviewer who is both an Attorney and Elected Official. The critics are wrong because they are no longer real people. They have become some kind of hybrid who wants things that real people don't want. One detractor who shall not remain nameless is Martin Carr. He says it lacks teeth.

What the heck does that mean? Does he want an x rated rape scene? Does he want dead bodies with blood? Does he want 4 hours of trial litigation? He was so brave about his critique that he TURNED OFF ALL COMMENTING. Way to go Martin. So courageous.

Those that don't like this film or like it but don't love it are not living in our world of reality. HEY YOU GUYS ...... this is the way things are around here. They are not perfectly symmetrical all the time. They are asymmetrical more often than not. They do not always make perfect sense. That is unfortunately the new way things are shaping up in this 21st Century. And we really don't need all that action, blood, violence and noise to have a good movie. We can see that on the 6 O'Clock news. In that way, things are more like the 1920's. All the violence was in real life. But not on the Silver Screen yet.

We the non-critical people love this movie. Need more like this. Story about reality for a change.

I like the movie because it has a great talented cast
31 May 2021
What if all the usual movie stars you like are in a movie that most people don't like?

First, if you go to Wikipedia it says this is a 2017 movie. But else where it shows it was released on 1 January 2021. In still other sources it shows it was released in October 2020. YouTube seems to indicate by the movie trailer it was released January 1, 2021. Such things are trivial but add to the mystique. The movie has some of my favorite movie stars. Miller, Baldwin, Grodin, and Camp (The French maid in "Clue" 1985) They all did a superior acting performance. The movie was easy to follow. It held your attention. The dialogue was fine. I watched it again to try to understand what the director was trying to tell us. ( He is actually one of the actors in the movie as well). The ending is what will disturb people because it really does not end. This is what most viewers might dislike. 'Finally, this was the last movie of Mr. Charles Grodin. Rest in peace good sir.

Heart wrenching romantic comedy fantasy
13 August 2020
Very cute romantic comedy by great actors. Sienna paired very well with Franco. Movie had great cast too. It is funny and sad at the same time. Although critics did not seem to like movie, Sienna Miller and Franco fans loved the film. This is evidenced by it's continued popularity on streaming services. It also spawned many music videos by YouTube producers. It does seem strange there are no contemporaneous video interviews of Sienna or Franco about the movie just prior to or after its release in April 2008. Also unable to find any red carpet premiere events on video. It will always live as a great romantic fantasy where lovers win over difficult if not impossible circumstances.

PRELUDE TO "AMERICAN WOMAN"
27 May 2020
Been looking for this film for awhile. Just purchased copy on Amazon Prime. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE SiEnna in this film. Anyone who views her in "Factory Girl" and this film can readily see why any Hollywood director would want her for "American Woman" (2019) Roadside Attractions/Vertical Entertainment. Her portrayal of Marilyn O'Connor here is very reminiscent of her award winning performance in "American Woman" as Deb Callahan. She gives the viewer an enduring image of young struggling women in difficult almost insurmountable difficulties . BRAVO. LIKE. LOVE. SiEnna is a SUPERSTAR. She may have 3 stars on her right shoulder but she gets 10 above her door here. : - ))))

Asymmetrical Time Displacement Plot Line
5 April 2020
There is not yet accurate description of WANDER DARKLY genre. It is brand new. It is ASYMMETRICAL TIME DISPLACEMENT PLOT LINE such as we have never seen before. Audience sees movie characters in at least three different cognitive time frames of PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE. There is a fourth dimensional aspect because the characters occasionally step out of their scene to look at the three times to comment in a real time way. Hence, ASYMMETRICAL TIME DISPLACEMENT PLOT LINE. An all new way to tell a story.

SiEnna Miller is Stellar in this performance. AWARD WINNING.
13 June 2019
SiEnna Miller and entire cast do a award winning performance. I do not see JAKE SCOTT carrying his burden of the work. He did not even support the premiere in Hollywood on 6 JUN 2019. If his Dad told him to do the work, I do not see him doing that. THERE ARE NO TV PROMO'S. This film will be a fine success for SiEnna Miller and Christina Hendricks.

Best Since 1977
16 January 2019
THE BEST STAR WARS EPISODE since the very first one in 1977. Anyone who was alive then should agree. At that time was a very young US Army Captain. Assigned to US Army AIR DEFENSE BOARD, Fort Bliss, Texas. We lived on the base with an old old soldier. His name was 5 Star General OMAR BRADLEY. I will bet you General Bradley went to see that first LUCAS FILM. A close friend saw the film and turned me on to it. It was like nothing even seen. Very thrilling in a fun way. RON HOWARD captured that again in SOLO. Great feeling. Thank you. Again.

PATRIOTIC AND INSPIRING FOR ALL THE AGES
17 February 2018
We regularly watch this film each 4th of July Holiday. While rest of town and neighborhood is off watching a fireworks display, we are having a small dinner party and watching and commenting on the film. Maybe not every year but certainly it is a regular annual event. Everyone has a favorite era of history. Having grown up in the Northeast USA, one cannot help experiencing the overwhelming War of Independence history of the area. It is in the air, the soil and ambiance of life in Northeast USA. California has it's Spanish Missions history which predominates life style. Northeast has SPIRIT OF '76.

GOOD ACTORS, GOOD FILM, BAD POLITICS
31 December 2017
KINGSMEN 2 is fine film with potential to be a new and long lasting FRANCHISE in Genre of "SPY FLICKS". It is British, Action and it very reminiscent of early BOND films with campy scenes and dialogue. IT IS FUN. SO WHY DID YOU MUCK IT UP with POLITICAL HATRED? When Producers and writers SO HATE a POLITICAL ADMINISTRATION it is MOST UNPROFESSIONAL aspect of Hollywood. It is also UN-AMERICAN. When fine professional actors allow themselves to be prostitutes of a counter-political administration it is not only obvious to average movie going family it is UNPROFESSIONAL. GOOD MOVIE. BAD ATTITUDE. SHAME ON YOU for partisan prostitution.

Good film. After reviewing it again I can see why Ebert liked it better.
9 October 2017
Christopher Columbus - THE DISCOVERY (1992) Warner Brothers opened in theaters same time as this film "1492". Viewed "1492" film again on Hulu for this holiday (Columbus Day 2017). I prefer "DISCOVERY FILM" for a number of reasons. At film's end Columbus is hero having completed first voyage successfully and long before things went wrong in Haiti (La Espaniola). "1492" film goes beyond first voyage up to his Third, next to last voyage. Things were truly as bad as depicted in second film. This is shown clearly in the manuscripts of his son Fernando. Fernando's book actually shows things were worse than shown in film. Both films were box office disappointments. However, year 1992 critics seemed to like "1492" film better. It shows Columbus as a victim, failure and basically a "schmuck". This may be why Europeans view Columbus in a good light. In the USA he seems to get little credit......but all the blame.

Excellent tribute to Jack Palance 1974
6 October 2017
Dracula Untold - (2014) Universal - This will go down in history as one of the great Dracula movies of all time. Only second to the original with Lugosi in 1931. This film is very similar to the story with Jack Palance back in 1974. Luke Evans even reminds you of Palance. The casting was PERFECT. LIKE X 100.
