Same tired gag
25 July 2008
I have to disagree with the posters who commented on this movie so far. Seth Rogen simply can not handle the lead role in a movie with his limited acting ability. It worked with Knocked up because no one was too familiar with him. His single role persona his perfect for supporting roles such as in 40 year old virgin or Superbad, but not this time. His screen writing has been consistently above average over the years and it continues in Pineapple Express.

Unfortunately, there are only so many pot jokes and the rest of the humor in this movie, along with the plot, is predictable. Of course the plot is going to be predictable--I did not expect too much there, but the immaturity of some jokes does not make me smile.

James Franco tries to resurrect his career after sinking in Annapolis. He does a pretty decent job, but I do not find him to be funny. For example, I do not think sticking your thumb out of your fly is humorous. The predictable plot makes the 1 hour 50 minute running time see superfluous. This flaw was also apparent in Knocked Up.

Seth Rogan seems to be headed for the same path as fellow funny men Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler. Make a few good movies and then just repeat the same gags and jokes to score at the box office.

Not worth the $8 for a 75 minute movie
23 February 2007
Everyone knows going into the theater that this is not going to be cinematic gold, but you would think that it would be hilarious throughout the 82 min. approximated time. The movie does not follow the TV show and is only funny due to how stupid the acts are such as masturbation, nudity, and plain stupidity. The movie is not entertaining due to "stupid funny," contrary to such hit films as Borat, Jackass, or even Anchorman. The movie came on, after previews, at 10:16pm, and I was in the parking lot before 11:30pm. If that isn't a rip off then I don't know what is. The entire time you were waiting for the movie to be a long, cinematic TV show, but you were granted a sub par movie looking to fill seats based on the TV show's popularity. I don't know about theaters across the country, but the theater I was in wasn't even half full. Take my advice and don't waste your money.

What I learned from watching this movie
19 December 2006
1. Sorority girls like high school guys 2. Girls are willing to show their tits on command 3. Eugene Levy has a lot of depth as an actor 4. Lingerie/underwear parties are very common 5. You can drink where ever you want on a college campus 6. People find it hilarious when you walk around a party erect and even drinking games take place because of it—you become the life of the party 7. The continuing development of the pool table to lose your virginity shows the lack of talent by the writers 8. Girls love virgins and inexperienced guys 9. When guys climax they kill grandparents

Overall, this movie has some entertaining qualities, and if you are a male, you will enjoy the massive amounts of frontal nudity.

Far From Good

**Reveals minor plot** I'm going to be in honest in telling you that I had pretty low expectations going into seeing this because of the not so sweet actor duo Mann casted of Farrell and Foxx. It seems the film was never critically edited with gaping plot holes and love tangents going on for more than desired. Farrell and Foxx have as much chemistry as a recently divorced couple. Their characters are isolated from one another and they never seem to greatly benefit. What was the point of Farrell going to Cuba with his unintelligible speaking Asian/Cuban friend? Was it really necessary for Mann to have them cruising on a boat for 20 minutes then to make sure we didn't fall asleep, have the 2 love birds dance romantically in the club? The shooting scenes were for the most part well done with the non realistic parts being a bit of an annoyance. I haven't seen this amount of Rambo-ism since Mr. and Mrs. Smith came out. Does not follow the TV show nor do anything unique.

Could have been better

Black and White movies are God awful. The satire is .... OK. Yeah, make fun of history. The plot is yawn worthy --someone was actually snoring in my movie class. Good idea, but not I want the 93 minutes this movie took (of my life) back. The 10 line minimum of text is a joke. I am not about to write an essay about why this movie was disappointing.
