Fire Country (2022)
So Bad it Can't Be Saved
I don't know how this show has a 7.2 rating when it's so awful. The dialogue is childish and could have been
written by a 10 year old. The cast is a joke with Bode, as the lead character, who has to be a hero in every scene. His father is the chief and his mother is his boss yet they're both so unprofessional. Many times they're in the middle of a wildfire and they're kissing. It's so unrealistic and something real firefighters would never do. They kiss at least ten times during the show most of which takes place in out of control fires. And this show has been renewed and is being touted as one of the hits of the season. I'm not sure who they know but eventually the powers that be will realize this show is not what they're pushing.
Haul Out the Holly (2022)
So Awful and Annoying
Lacey is clearly my favorite Hallmark actress especially in the Christmas movies. She deserves better than this. This movie was beyond terrible and I couldn't wait for it to be over. C'mon Hallmark - you have a year to come up with some good Christmas movies and this is what we get!! Year after year, I'm hoping for some movies that I could rate a ten and year after year I'm disappointed with these stupid scripts. This was by far the worst one I've seen so far this season. I've yet to come across a "10". Where are the movies like A Dog Named Christmas and Christmas with Tucker. You must think all we want are Christmas decorations and tinsel. Think again.
Hollywood Houselift with Jeff Lewis (2022)
So, so ENJOYABLE
If you loved Jeff Lewis on Flipping Out, you'll be so happy to see him back on the air in his new show Hollywood Houselift. While he's still brash and to the point, it's a toned down, more grown up version that we're seeing. It's also entertaining that he's dealing with celebrities, who are so happy to have his expertise in guiding them through their interior design process. Gone is Jenny who is replaced by Jeff's assistant Shane who is an absolute delight. Some of the former cast is still there including Megan, Andrew, Tyler and our favorite of them all - ZOILA. Also gone is Jeff's former partner Gage which is an actual plus as it's one less thing for Jeff to stress about. New episodes air on Fridays and I'm already looking forward to the next one.
And Just Like That... (2021)
Sorry. I Love It!!!
I almost didn't watch this because of the 5.4 rating and the reviews. But, this weekend, I decided to try it. And guess what? I loved it. Yes it's woke and all of the words being used today. And perhaps it's a generational thing and younger people don't like it. But this former lover of Sex And The City enjoyed every episode.
The Sinner (2017)
Great season 3
I wish you could rate these by seasons as opposed to episodes. I hated season 2 but thought season 3 was great. Season 1 was also very good but I don't think that was as good as season 3.
Succession (2018)
Lowered my rating
Midway through season 3 and I've lowered my original "9" rating to an "8" rating and it might even go lower as the season progresses. My main problem is the language. I've been in corporate America for decades and no one speaks like that with all of the curse words and disgusting things that spew out of Roman's mouth. This would be an HR complaint in the making. There are no redeeming qualities in any of these characters except for Greg.
Christmas Down Under (2021)
Worst movie ever
This could be the worst movie I've ever seen. Every single minute of it is awful. I don't know how it has such a high rating. It doesn't have one redeeming quality.
Christmas Beneath the Stars (2021)
Enjoyable
Something must be wrong with me as I actually enjoyed this movie. I guess it's because it doesn't follow the typical holiday movie scenario of beautifully decorated homes, baking cookies, Christmas tree lighting in the town square etc., etc. I'm so bored with all of that. I liked these characters and that's where a lot if my enjoyment comes from.
A Christmas Family Reunion (2021)
Enjoyable
Not sure why this is getting so many bad reviews. I'm pretty critical and I really enjoyed this. At least I didn't have to sit through a Christmas tree lighting in the town square, baking cookies, caroling and all of the other predictable things found in most of these Christmas movies. In addition, the cast was great.
Christmas She Wrote (2020)
Maybe I'm crazy but I really enjoyed it
I enjoyed everything about this movie. It was different, acting was great, storyline wasn't your usual run of the mill and I loved all of the characters and their connections.
A Royal Christmas Engagement (2020)
Lack of Chemistry
I always think that the sign of a good movie is the chemistry between the actors. There is no chemistry whatsoever in this movie. And the main female character is so unappealing that it's annoying. She's like a cold fish. I'm sorry to be so harsh but this could have been a decent movie had better actors been cast.
If I Only Had Christmas (2020)
Enjoyable
I'm actually shocked to see so many negative reviews. I've watched some real snoozers so far this season with The Christmas Aunt leading the pack. Surprisingly, that has a better score than this movie. It's almost as if someone has a vendetta against Candace Bure and is purposely trying to knock her off her pedestal. I can't see any other reason for these mean spirited reviews. Be that as it may, I enjoyed it. I was so happy not to have to witness another tree lighting or making of gingerbread houses or building snowmen. It wasn't a shove Christmas down your throat kind of story. Just an enjoyable movie all around.
Almost Christmas (2016)
Really Enjoyable
There must be something wrong with me because I really enjoyed this movie. I'm so happy that there wasn't a "big" tree lighting to go to and they weren't trying to save the town. Quite the opposite - just a good old family Christmas with Monique who steals the show. Great, great casting all around.
Dear Christmas (2020)
Awful sound editing
This movie is full of music that is so loud that you can hardly hear what they're saying. Especially at the end, when I'm trying to hear if they're going to make it work, I had to put the closed caption on just to read the words. This shouldn't be the case.
If You Believe (1999)
So Surprisingly Good
At first I didn't think I would like this movie and ended up loving it. It's a great modern day Scrooge story. Hayden Panettiere is so great as the young Susan as is the rest of the cast especially Ally Walker. If you want a feel good holiday movie, try this one.
The Christmas Yule Blog (2020)
No Chemistry Here
When there's no chemistry between the two main characters, it's hard to believe the story. I've watched over ten Christmas movies so far this season and this one was probably my least favorite.
The Sinner: Part IV (2020)
My least favorite season
I dislike this season so much. I loved Matt Bomer in White Collar but absolutely can't stand him in this.
It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas (2019)
No Chemistry at all
This was a tough one to watch as she was clearly much taller than him in heels and they did so many things to make him appear taller. Then there's the lack of chemistry between the two. Could have been much better with different leads.
Christmas at Dollywood (2019)
Loved it
I've been very critical of the Hallmark movies this season but have to say I really enjoyed this one. I'm surprised by so many negative reviews. I loved the cast and Dolly Parton made it that much more special.
Christmas Matchmakers (2019)
Enjoyable
Like many others who watched this, the movie cut off right before the end. I set my DVR to tape it again tonight and just watched it. The ending is GREAT so I hope others got to see the ending as well.
Christmas at the Chateau (2019)
Not even watchable
This movie was awful. And the worst part is there aren't even any commercials to fast forward through. Just almost two hours of an unwatchable movie.
One Fine Christmas (2019)
Really Enjoyable
How great it was to watch a Christmas movie with a cast that is "real" without all of the fake smiles. Also enjoyed the fact that there was no Christmas pageant, no town square tree lighting and no fake romance with characters who have absolutely no chemistry. This was just a good down home Christmas movie.
A Christmas Movie Christmas (2019)
So, so awful
This movie is beyond awful. Don't waste your time.
The Mistletoe Secret (2019)
Enjoyable
Not sure why there's so much negativity about Kelli Pickler in these reviews. Fifteen minutes into this movie, I was happy to see someone genuine playing the lead role - not the phony big teeth smiles I'm so used to in all of these Hallmark movies. I honestly look forward to seeing my annual Kelli Pickler movie each year.
Merry Liddle Christmas (2019)
So annoying
I can't stand movies like this. But I do like Kelly Rowland and it was nice to see Debbie Morgan again.
