What Not to Wear (2003)
Witty, sharp and real.
What not to wear helps people who are walking fashion disasters. Family of the fashion victim hooks up with the show and surprises the fashion victim. The subject is now off to New York to be transformed into the Swan they never knew they were. Stacy and Clinton now begin helping the fashion victim by schooling them on how to make their fashion really stand out in a way that is best for their age, body type and what makes them look their best. Stacy and Clinton along with a chic hair dresser and and a sassy make up artist cause "What not to wear" a must see show. They transform the sometimes frumpy to red carpet ready. All the fashion victim needs to do is get rid of their old clothes,spend $5,000 which they are given on new clothes by using the fashion educational tools that Stacy and Clinton has provided.
Things We Lost in the Fire (2007)
Raw, up close and concrete.
Halle Berry shine's in the movie "Things we lost on the fire." Halle plays a widow who is now faced to raise two children after her husband was killed; she then invites a friend to stay with her who is a a recovering heroin addict. The story line is simple and the acting is so raw that you believe in the characters. The scenes are extremely up close where at times it feels as it is a documentary. The entire film is concrete where all is solid from the lighting to the clothing that they have on. Each actor complements each other in the movie. There is one drawback,the movie title "Things we lost in the fire" is a odd title as it centers mainly around the husband's death. It is surprising that the movie was not such a big box office hit as it has such an element not seen in the movies for a long time.
Are You Being Served? (1972)
"Are You Being Served?" Serves!
"Are You Being Served?" is one of the best British comedies to hit American television screens! The show is about workers in a department store and their everyday lives. Every show the workers have adventures from being stuck in the store due to bad weather to one of them becoming a Pop Star for a day. "Are You Being Served" does not have any hidden messages like the average comedy it just tells about life in a plain old department store. What makes the show unique is the personalities of the workers; where in this store the customer is not always right. While the show ended in 1982 the show remains an icon due to the simple story lines which lead to hilarious side-splitting misunderstandings. "Are You Being Served?" is a must see for people who enjoy comedy. If you are looking for laughter, the search is over with "Are You Being Served."
Jackass Number Two (2006)
Jackass:The title suits the movie!
If you would like to waste time do one of two things. First stand outside and stare at the sky or two watch the movie Jackass Number Two. There are more stunts and more men with certain 'body parts' flapping in the wind, but the movie does not break any laughter barriers. The entire crew appears in the movie along with a host of celebrities who make cameos. But the movie fails to make a dent in the funny department. From a senior citizen exposing her chest to people to the ingesting of a bowel movement; Jackass is plain silly. The television version is much better than the bizarre,flimsy silver screen production. If you are looking for laughter look elsewhere rather than Jackass Number Two.
The Doodlebops (2004)
Doodlebops=Fun
I work with children from 0 6 years old and they all love the Doodlebops. The Doodlebops are energetic, vibrant and appealing. Once they start singing, ''We're the Doodlebops We're the Doodlebops We're the Doodlebops Oh yeah Come and join the fun because we're laughing and we're singing all day" it is almost impossible not to join them in song. The Doodlebops brings the viewer into a world of color and fun. Each show is an adventure, the Doodlebops do not try to change the world with preachy messages all they do is have fun while sorting out everyday life challenges that the young child may relate to. The Doodlebops is an refreshing, high action alternative to regular children's television programs.
The Jerry Springer Show (1991)
Springer: The show with guts.
Love him or hate him, Jerry Springer is the show with guts. Jerry Springer has a lot of talent and lots of it. If another were to host the show it would be like drying paint, boring. The Springer show makes you forget about the real world for one hour and dive in the world of others. The Jerry Springer show will never get old as all involved keep it young. Sure people complain about some of the topics but look at day time soaps, their story lines centers around bed hopping, lies you name it they have it. I think Jerry Springer is the perfect show if for just one hour you want to get entertained and leave all your problems behind you.
