Wide Sargasso Sea (2006)
What's the point?
This movie is not another attempt of adapting the novel and provide an alternative to the previous, famously bad adaptation from 1993. It's almost word by word, scene by scene copy of the previously used script, except now employing worse acting, poor cinematography (most scenes are shaky and poorly lighted, as if they were filmed by hand by unpaid amateurs), and terrible sound. I could hardly hear, not to mention understand what Rochester is saying because he hardly bothers to actually open his mouth, and it's all half-unaudible mumbling. I also don't really think the actress playing Antoinette has the right appearance to play a creole person. Also, the poorly done whitened hair and eyebrows meaning to make a young actress with skin as smooth as Spring flower petals look like an elderly woman who nursed the story's heroine is just sad to behold.
All in all this adaptation is not bringing any added value, it just takes the previous failure and makes it into an even bigger one.
Bridgerton: Oceans Apart (2020)
One of the reasons to NOT pay for Netflix
I think I've ran out of booze during the "spot the bleached dreadlocks guy" drinking game. Also, could anyone recommend me an acupuncture specialist or an ointment that could relieve the pain I got in my index finger due to all of the fast-forwarding of the countless gratuitous tasteless, vulgar, mindless, animalistic copulation scenes? I really didn't sign up for a cheap XXX movie...
Also #2: Will pay for some actual acting. Plus: could someone give the queen a laxative? She'd been having that face expression pointing to a chronic constipation and no other one ever since her first appearance.
Sweet heavens, this show is so bad the Shonda-bunch should be paying people to watch it, not the other way around.
PS. So let me get this straight: The whatsherface is OK with living childless to her hubby allegedly being sterile, but she's suddenly not OK with the same fate if it's his personal aware choice and he prefers to pull it out before he finishes? Welp, after she technically and factually raped him in the previous episode (everything in sex that is not consensual is rape and it applies to ladies too, right?), she should just go and have it her way with a bunch of butlers and stable boys until she succeeds to get preggy, and then just proclaim it a miracle and later blame her strong family genes on the child's complexion (oh wait, don't the all other but white actors in this show actually play white people? Well then, she doesn't need to do that bit at least).
PS #2. Since when do roses and fruit trees are in full bloom at the same time of the year, ESPECIALLY on the British Isles?
American Gods: Sister Rising (2021)
Woke: proceed with caution
Please don't overdose the infantile, naive "I've never been to nor studied anything considering Africa but I'm black so I know everything about my ancestors' ways" woke thing. It's enough it totally ruined Star Trek: Discovery.
The Man in the High Castle: Duck and Cover (2016)
What is a Geshtapo again?
Gestapo pronounced as "geshtapo" is how propably only people in Suabian province or in Swiss would say it. Not even Bavarians or Austrians do it. Not meaning to judge anyone by their place of origin, but it's a rather uneducated and highly dialect-like was of pronouncing it and just as rare and incorrect.
Also, I fast forward through the intro song of every episode because I can't bare to hear the singer pronounce the Edelweis as "Ehdahweish". IN WHAT UNIVERSE does one pronounce double S as SH?! Also, if the American film-makers could hire some actual native German speakers to play Germans in their productions JUST ONCE or at least hire some other language coach than apparently the same single one that teaches every actor the same hilarious fake German accent straight out of Mel Brooks parody movies, that would be great.

Warning: this STD can cause a BURN in your HAM
A healthy dose of The Mandalorian is great for relieving it though. It helped me very well, thank you.

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa's finest piece/please put a red shirt on Juliana
I'm incredibly happy to see Tagawa finally landed an important part in a production of supreme quality. Before that he'd been wasting his acting talent and striking physique mostly for garbage flicks, or ended up in cameo-like minute roles that didn't allow him to show what he's got to offer. I hope his future career will be better managed from now on.
As to the plot, I myself don't cosider myself particularly insightful or smart, but how dumb and naive that Juliana girl is just defeats me. And she doesn't learn from her own mistakes over and OVER again, and in result pretty much screws everything up for the resistance. Honetly, even a semi-intelligent person would start off by dumping her sister's satchel in the nearest standing garbage container, and from there it just get worse and worse. Also, I can't seem to comprehend why the resistance member don't see that in order to help their cause they should've shot her long time ago.
Star Trek: Discovery: Scavengers (2020)
I didn't sign up for a chick-flick
None of what remained of this show by now is Star Trek anymore. It's a tear-jerking melodrama with ridiculous dialogues, overly fancy hair-dressing and bad acting for 12 year old-schoolgirls. Burnham is the worst and most annoying part of this series and she is really the only thing it's about by now. And she's absolutely ruining it. This kind of storytelling and plot ideas is offensive to the viewers' taste and intellect, including females (I'm one and I'm leftist and feminist and I still don't like what I see here, it's just infantile, naive and disappointing).
I'm not coming back to see any more of this show, I'm tired of getting more and more annoyed and disappointed with every consecutive episode.
Star Trek: Discovery: Forget Me Not (2020)
I didn't sign up for a chick-flick.
The concentration of tear-jerking sentimentalism of this show has reached the levels that could only be nearable for Danielle Steel readers or for 12-year old schoolgirls. I write that as a woman. The stupidity and triviality of "plot", and of the dialogues is absolutely sickening and insults the viewers intellect. This show has become unwatchable. What va waste of opportunities and of money.
Mozart and the Whale (2005)
Surprisingly accurate depiction of female Asperger's - sadly, ruined by the ending
I, myself a Asperger's female, have been positively surprised how much I could relate to the characteristics, quirks and way of thinking of the main female character. But I regret to see, once more, how Hollywood (and not only) is only capable of only rendering characters, even most eccentric and/or disturbed, likeable and possible to sypathize with, if they are shown to be physically attractive people. All others, who don't fit into the popular beauty standards are being pictured as offputting, weird, disturbing, pitiful or even disgusting. And that's how I feel the rest of the therapy group in the movie was shown - thrown into one sack, irrelevant, mad and ugly. That's a very unrealistic and disrespectful way of picturing people with various neurological or mental disorders. Aside from that, the ending came as absolutely unexpected and not making any sense at all - just another fairy-tale "and they lived happily ever after" stupid Hollywood ending that doesn't correspond AT all to the preceding plot. And in real life of people affected with autism and Asperger's, that's not how it ends at all. But I guess for the, Apparently Neuro-Typical filmmakers, creating a nonsensical happy end and paying bills by replying to the NT-audience demand mattered more. What a disappointment, to see otherwise very-well handled storytelling focusing on this commonly unknown and misunderstood (especially in females) syndrome, that is still being addressed so seldom and hardly ever with proper, professional insight being another wasted opportunity to bring it out to the public attention and perhaps do sth for both NT and AS population to get themselves to mutually understand each other better.
