WOULD BE 7 STARS IF ...
26 July 2023
The show itself is fun. The contestants are interesting, not necessarily your knucklehead oddballs typically populating these cooking shows. But, the lack of irritating oddballs among the contestant pool is somewhat refreshing. The watcher is able to focus on the cooking techniques. What causes my rating opinion to drop from seven stars to two stars solely relates to the shows use of an irritating cartoon chef hat with an awful voice that sounds like a cat hanging on for dear life but falling to its doom while dragging its claws over an old school chalkboard. In other words, a horrific voice paired with an irritating and frankly corny cartoon. "Please, give me a break. Seriously, give me a break." Is the show lacking in funds that they can't employ a real human being as a host? For such an awful, out of place, irritating cartoon with an even worse voice, I drop from seven stars to two stars.

UNFORTUNATELY MORGAN IS STILL NOT EATEN
3 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
As with all "Fear The Walking Dead" episodes, hokey "Morgan" continues with his sickly sweet hokey behavior, modified at times, by unexplainable bouts of evil "Dastardly Snidley Whiplash." Every variation in Morgan's multi-personality disorder screams for us audience to root for him being eaten. Yet, Morgan's genuine faux personality of "Grasshopper" of 70s "KungFu" TV infamy, seems to extricate him from every possible delectable zombie dinner opportunity. Every time it seems like we are finally going to see this very unsympathetic character eaten - he gets away! "When is Morgan going to be eaten?" I cry! So, the zombie franchise suckers me in again to wait for next week's episode. Like Lurch of Addams Family used to moan "uggghhhhhhh."

ODD FEAR MONGERING PSEUDO DOCUMENTARY
29 May 2023
This is an odd "wanna be" documentary that uses, among other things, scary "monster" cartoons to bludgeon the point that you should be scared of UFOs. This pseudo documentary wants you to know that the scary monster UFOs are coming to kill you. This clearly is done by Military Industrial Complex types that are pushing an agenda that the "monsters" are coming. Since the monsters are coming to kill us, the government must increase the military defense budget to buy weapons to fight a "space war." And, if bludgeoning you with the narrator telling you how bad the UFOs are does scare you, then monster looking cartoons - yes cartoons, the type you expect to see on a Marvel cartoon show - are used to complete bludgeoning you with fear mongering. This is a very hokey pseudo documentary, produced by military industrial types, designed to scare the crap out of you, to convince you that war is coming, and that we need the give the Pentagon more money to protect us. In other words, this is a total piece of crap that does nothing to further the topic with clear sober intelligent conversation. Two stars, instead of one, because there appear to be retired military types , that experienced UFO encounters, providing legitimate testimony.

TRUTH MIXED WITH DECEPTION = DEMONIC
14 March 2023
The Apostles asked HIM, our Lord, what is the demon's greatest power. HE replied "lies" ... "he is the father of lies." Therefore, in my humble faith based view, if it professes lies among truths then it is deception. Deception is the fruit of the evil one. As soon as one of the pastors offered complaint comments about how the world is trying to emasculate Western European type males, a most unbiblical complaint, I instantly recognized this as the work of evil. There's more of this unbiblical commentary throughout. For example, John Hagee, in his baritone faux preacher voice, calls for a nuclear strike on Iran. Politics! Politics are not biblical. In fact, Yeshua tells us 'give to Ceasar what is Ceasar's, and give to GOD what is GOD's'. Clearly, world governments and their politics are as much Ceasar's in the 21st Century as they were Ceasar's in the first century. Not to mention, what is a popular and infamous televangelist doing advocating a nuclear strike on a population to cause massive death? Does this televangelist not care about the faithful followers of Jesus that are certain to be murdered in such a nuclear strike? You, the reader, answer whether calling for a nuclear strike to annihilate a people, whose majority are moslems, is biblical? Then, you, the reader, answer whether Yeshua (Jesus) himself would ever call for such a strike, let alone condone such a strike? If your answer for any of the two preceding questions is yes, then you are not a follower of Jesus and you do not believe the teachings of the Holy Scriptures are GOD inspired true words. Christ's reply to the two previous questions would certainly be "of course not!

TYPICAL BRITISH SLOW, SLOW, SLOW
29 December 2022
The movie moves at a glacial pace. Mark Rylance's acting is all about him pretending that he is paint drying on a wall. The first half of the movie sees Rylance standing in his tailor shop, while he sews together men's suits, and every so often mutters a "hmmm" or a "umm," or similar dead pan utterances. The movie becomes interesting only towards the end. This typical British glacial pace movie puts one through a tortuous ride to get to the end of the movie where interest rises. So, that this review is published, IMDB requires at least 600 characters. Therefore, I must emphasize with these extra mandatory character requirements, that the movie is very slow.

BORING & UNINTERESTING UNLIKEABLE CHARACTERS
2 November 2022
First, bankers are not a heroic lot and rarely produce likable television characters. Second, characters based on bankers are a less likable lot than most. Third, boring unlikeable characters who are bankers are really not a very likable lot. And, so is the television series titled "Industry" - not likable that is.

I feel obliged to repeat myself. First, bankers are not a heroic lot and rarely produce likable television characters. Second, characters based on bankers are a less likable lot than most. Third, boring unlikeable characters who are bankers are really not a very likable lot. And, so is the television series titled "Industry" - not a very likable television series that is.

REALLY?
20 July 2022
If these people are explaining the basis for the Roman Catholic teaching of the mythical Purgatory, then the Roman Catholic Church has based on a heresy on foolish "evidence" and information. I listened, with an open mind, trying to understand if there was something Biblical that I missed for the understanding of Purgatory and all I found were heretics and frauds trying to explain a non-biblical dogma with fools advice. REALLY?!?! There must be something more to this Purgatory heresy. Or, can it be true that Purgatory is a complete made-up heresy that offends the teachings of Christ?

ANOTHER M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN BOMB
28 June 2022
Try as he can, to reach the heights and brilliance of "THE SIXTH SENSE," M. Night Shyamalan has not been able to reach the brilliance of The Sixth Sense. Why or how, Shyamalan has continually found people willing to invest in projects involving M. Night Shyamalan is a mystery. More of a mystery than any of the movies he has made since The Sixth Sense. In the instant example all elements of this movie, without exception, do not merit more than a few stars for rating. The sound is poor and appears to have been created with defective equipment. The dialogue is "B-Movie" grade. The script is incongruous in many sections. M. Night Shyamalan cameos are comedic when taken in context. Although there are some actors of note involved in this project, the acting taken as a whole is poor. I could go on, but it is simpler to say that "OLD" is just another M. Night Shyamalan bomb. If you want to waste time watching an M. Night Shyamalan movie skip OLD and watch THE SIXTH SENSE.

THOR'S GIRLFRIEND
4 June 2022
The girlfriend of Chris Hemsworth, the actor that portrays the character "Thor" in the movies, is the main protagonist in this movie. Consequently, Chris Hemsworth, makes cameo appearances as a TV salesman that cheers on the protagonist. A lot of action, but unfortunately unbelievable action scenes, make up the overwhelming bulk of this "not ready for prime time" action film with Chris Hemsworth's girlfriend as the main protagonist.

SLOW
30 May 2022
Very, very, very slow. Interesting, but very, very slow. The point of the story could be told in three episodes. So, imagine three episodes stretched to eight episodes and you can easily imagine how slow the series is.

DARK - LITERALLY NO LIGHT
2 May 2022
The film fails because the cinematography uses dark light, shadows, darkness and opaqueness to the point that it's difficult to see what's going on. Add to the poor cinematic choices the stupid choice to have all the characters speak in deep whispers to the point that it's difficult to hear. This ridiculous use of whisper instead of the traditional voice began with Edward James Olmos. This voice technique has been copied by many actors and now used as a primary method by the directors of this film. In addition, to the frustrating film and voice techniques that are used, is the story itself. I came away with the idea that all the characters are depressed, sociopaths and slightly insane. Watching these characters was very depressing. Overall the film failed, and the writers and directors visions are frustrating.

WTF? SERIOUSLY, WHAT IS THIS?!
22 April 2022
I think the Hollywood types are losing it. This must be another gender-something Hollywood statement crammed down our throats trying to convey some political statement. But, what political statement are the writers/producers trying to make? That's the fail, I have no clue what the point of this weird comedy (at least I think it's a comedy) is. FAIL.

A CAST OF CREEPY CHARACTERS
28 March 2022
A cast of creepy characters, particularly the pig farmer. Not to far behind the pig farmer on the creep scale is the pig farmer's son. A not very helpful putative documentary about the FSB (read KGB) agent that pawns himself off as "Q" with a "Q" clearance.

TORTUROUSLY REPETITIVE & BORING
17 March 2022
This series is torturously repetitive in that the episodes are so similar they blend into one another. Each episode essentially repeating itself so that watching the first episode is like watching the third episode. The series seeks to bludgeon my mind into thinking I am watching a cerebral sci-fi by pounding my mind with repetitive boring maddening similarity. It is lacking in creativity, other than the concept. The concept could have been taken far with a better script. But, sadly this is a dead zone disaster. It is a disaster along the lines of DEVS.

TORTUOUSLY LONG
7 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Phil (Benedict Cumberpatch) is a closeted gay man. As such, he is tortuous to others to which he feels attracted including a young relative. He tortures his nephew horribly because he is homosexually attracted to him. This quick point of understanding is tortuously stretched out well beyond the 15 minutes, which is all that is needed to tell the story.

MASOCHISTS' DELIGHT OR ORGY OF DEPRESSION
22 February 2022
Most characters slug through life continually spiraling into endless days of depressive leftover syndrome. The other characters of nihilist insanity, and with creepy stalker qualities, torture the depressed characters while wearing white suits and dresses, constantly smoking, serial killer quality staring, while stalking in front of the depressed characters' houses. Ultimately the point being made by all the creepy people, the nihilists and the depressed, is that there is no point to life. But more importantly the characters make clear that there is no point to the show. As to the masochism part - those that liked the show, in my view, that apparently loved the pain that emoted from each character in each episode. "Ohhhhhhh the pain (in the arse)."

WORST EPISODE AMONGST EPISODES WHICH HAVE ALL BEEN GEMS.
14 February 2022
"The Dream Episode" is the worst among six seasons, the least logical, the least interesting, the least creative, the least entertaining and the least in all respects. The dream episode was silly and a waste of about an hour of my time.

SERIOUSLY?!
14 January 2022
Really? What's the old Supreme Court phrase often used? "I can't describe it, but I know it when I see it." (Paraphrased). This (what ever you call it) stunk up the joint, and that foul smell was emanating from a non-organic compilation of synthetic materials, plastic type components and precious metals, i.e., it was not alive to organically stink up the place. But, impossible as it sounds, my TV, with this awful parody, stunk up my place. Is it possible to give this no stars? The app needs to remedy that, we need a "NO STAR REVIEW."

AWFUL FROM EVERY ANGLE
22 October 2021
Laughable acting. Awful unlikeable characters. Really silly story lines (WHAT, silly story lines, whose premise is the world is overrun by zombies? Yes, that silly.) Annoying over the top teen angst and emoting, which gets old very fast. The producers are clearly arrogant thinking they can take an awful production and add some zombies to it and zombiephiles will loyally flock to it and lap it up hook, line and sinker. In a word AWFUL.

WATCHED THIS ASSUMING I'D WITNESS THE CANCEL CULTURE COMPLAINTS - CAME AWAY CONFUSED ABOUT WHAT ALL THE HATE IS ABOUT.
21 October 2021
The cancel culture warriors are out to get Chapelle, but chose the wrong show to draw their metaphorical line in the sand. The main topic of the performance was actually Chapelle's explanation of the contradictions in ruthless cancel culture attacks and why he is opposed to cancel culture. The Chapelle haters were not listening to what he was saying otherwise they would have chose a different show to focus their hate. I give it maximum stars for Chapelle's effort to explain the dynamics of hate in all it's forms and his opposition to that hate.

EMOTING "THIRTEEN-SOMETHINGS"
25 July 2021
A series about an unlikeable "ragtag" group of thirteen-somethings, sporting the latest post-apocalypse haute couture, emoting (telenovela type emoting) and doing stupid things while dodging slow zombies. The series producers may be striving towards a campy b-grade campy comedy. But, even in that, the series fails with its unlikeable actors. This viewer is looking towards the day when the entire ensemble is eaten. Between this group of thirteen-somethings and Morgan, it's a toss up as to who it would be more satisfying to see eaten.

BRILLIANT USE OF HORROR AS METAPHOR
22 April 2021
Outstanding brilliant use and manipulation of irony, analogy, reality, metaphor and horror to show the horror of racism. This is Linda Blair type horror, yet it's a shade of reality, that but for the fact that it is a horror flick shines a spotlight on reality ... and TRUE horror. Warning: each episode of the series is very hard to watch because the horror is one shade off white - or off black if you prefer. Said another way, it is that side of reality where we one lives in "the Twilight Zone" if you deny the truths and realities of racism and that those realities are still alive today.

COMIC BOOK MOVIES AT ITS BEST
20 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
You're either a comic book movie fan or you're not. If you are, at four hours long, you will get your fill on this one. Comic book plots, heroes, action and visuals at their best. My only negative? Get rid of the black suit Superman, you look like you're at a funeral, and you look like Batman's younger brother. (Revisionism can go only so far without killing - pun intended - the original idea.)

THE TRUTH HURTS - MUST SEE
23 January 2021
The low ratings are not based on the quality, story or worth of the movie as I perceive. This movie is based on real events that go to the heart of what America was and in many places still is. To see this side of America hurts those that refuse to acknowledge America the Beautiful - ugly evil warts and all. It is well presented, well acted, well told. It is worth seeing, if not for the quality of the film, then for the truth of the film. And, it is worth seeing with the whole family. Note that this is not a family movie, but rather a movie that reflects us. Truth hurts, but truth shall set you free.
